Love the interview style, Mike. High-quality video, clear audio, and really interesting questions. Also, I had no idea you were thinking about moving to a Spanish-speaking country to teach English. That could be a great video topic-especially since you’ve mentioned before that you didn’t want to leave Georgia. I'm curious what changed your mind! Keep up the great content my friend.

Thank you Leo! There is a country that I’m visiting very soon (within the next few weeks) that I think I’ll really enjoy. If I do, I plan to travel there often and if I really enjoy it after a few visits I’ll go and do that. What changed my mind is seeing my coworkers that left the district to do something similar and two years later their job was still waiting for them lol

I stumbled across channel today as most might due to the YT algorithm. I cherry picked through your videos starting with the oldest to this one. The only one I played fully was the long one where you described beginning learning Spanish prior to the pandemic. The others I just partially watched mostly to get a sense of your progress. I have to say that over four years, it has been nothing short of impressive. Not knowing you're from Georgia, I would have sworn you were from Cuba, the Dominican, or Panama. Your pronunciation from the beginning was pretty much on point. Most Americans have trouble rolling their R's but you didn't seem to have any trouble. I've started relearning Spanish. I was fluent until I was about 6 or 7 and forgot most of it. Es una historia larga. So I'm soaking up various videos and practice a little with my mother and someone I've been dating. I sometimes watch soccer matches. I don't understand much but it's entertaining because they get very excited. It's said the Spanish is the second fastest spoken language next to Japanese so I try to tune my ears. Living in SoCal there are people from all over Latin America to listen to. So you have an opportunity to hear all kinds of dialects and slang.

This made me very sad how mr Sanchez felt about being called gringo I have faced that discrimination with my parents with my family members and people and strangers. I love the language and teach my daughter. I sometimes feel bad that I didn’t learn it correctly growing up . I feel the discrimination with my parents towards my daughter and it breaks my heart. I’m just a Mexican American that loves the language and wants to pass it down to her daughter.
@MikeBenАй бұрын
I empathize with that and you have a shared experience with millions of others. Hopefully continuing to learn the language can help bridge those gaps in the future.

If you don't mind me asking. Which spaish dialects do you mostly use when speaking? I am mexican american, but i study Spain dialect. Because i like there accent better. And its also the original spainsh. And also is it a major difference in your opinion? Thanks.

Hi: I would say that those you wish to talk to, study the way they speak. I want to be able to "blend in" a bit better each time I encounter Mexicans and set them at ease because I speak a Spanish that is familiar to them. Therefore, I seek out media and friendships that are centered around Mexicans. But, like you, I also enjoy Spanish from Spain! Netflix has a ton of shows from Spain that have enriched our lives in my home. Saludos desde Atlanta

Spain Spanish is not the original Spanish lol, it's actually Mexican, Peruvian, and Bolivian Spanish that sounds mostly like the conquistadors, Spanish from Spain is fairly new, it's like saying British-English is the original English, which is not, Americans sound more like William Shakespear than the British cuz they speak Rhotic English

12:30 I’m not even Mexican or a US born Latino and that kind of ignorance coming from Latinos, regardless of their country, makes me angry. It’s no wonder many US born Latinos don’t even bother to learn Spanish out of fear or frustration of being mocked by their own family or even members of their own community. It’s sad.

On the whole, I am much, much happier because I chose to find my relatives and learn their language. It stung me when he said what he said, but in the 15 years since I have a mountain of wonderful memories speaking Spanish and learning about Mexico/los demás. ¡Saludos!

It's a worldwide thing all nationalities do it, you have these 5th gen Italians who are the Italian friend in the U.S but when they go to Italy they're not as in touch with the culture or people as they and others think.

Not telling you what to do but I try to be careful with my opinions on stuff like this. I view it as not being my place if that makes sense. I will say though, this happens with every ethnic group and depending on how you view it both perspectives make sense. Shared experiences are important
