That is if you didn’t die as a baby or of the plague first. :) And public executions and torture were obviously the best entertainment, especially compared to today, where we only have access to virtually all the world’s entertainment with the click of a button. As a medievalist, I’d like to say that all this information is correct at one point or another. However, we need to remember that these things were not actually the truth at all times and in all places, even somewhere as compact as medieval UK. Early medieval period was VERY different than later medieval period, for example. There were also easterners who migrated to the uk with very different styles of cleanliness. Not to mention there were more than just “brits” in medieval UK (Picts, Scandinavians, Celts) whom all had separate ideas about cleanliness. Also I’m curious where you got your information for menstration but the twig thing is not really supported by historians since it’s fair to say that most women would at least have the brains to determine that a stick covered in cloth was painful. Women would more than likely wear a diaper-like wrapping to catch blood and there are fashion historians who have tested it out recently as well. Anyways, there’s a lot more I’d like to say but all in all, pretty much all spot with the actions but the picture is skewed to make it seem like people didn’t evolve and change for nearly 1000 years. The end.

It was. Medieval ages were just a continuation of the Dark Ages. Rome was a corrupt dictatorship in many ways due to countless horrible leaders. There were a small amount of actual good leaders with Historians noting that Antonius The Pious was the best emperor by his actions, lack of wars, he served Rome for over 20 years, then retired in a villa. However even at its worst, Rome still had benefits that were lost when the empire collapsed. Trading, safety from marauders, nice and safe towns, a general leader, etc. With Rome gone, you could be taxed by several different landowners and be bullied into extortion by local tribes. There was no law and order after the Fall Of Rome. So yes, even the peasants during that period of time had more job opportunities than many medieval people.
@7dayspking4 жыл бұрын

He was nicknamed 'Twiggy' after the 70's supermodel, bc his remains had been flattened, pushed into the sediment by hippos after death. Experts know how he died bc of a black spot on his jaw. What’s crazy is that only parts of Europe were living like this during the Middle Ages in developed cities. Medieval kingdoms in China and Africa had bathhouses and underground plumbing. Cleanliness was a part of everyday life. Europeans were the only ones relieving themselves in chamber pots and throwing it out the window. The fact that the term Middle Ages is used as a term to solely describe a period in European history really shows how our education system is predicated on the centralization of western society and history, almost completely excluding other parts of the world that were thriving during this time.
