For everyone watching, especially those who are healing from an ED or may get easily triggered by counting calories or macros, remember counting calories isn't for everyone! I have found a healthy balance for myself by doing calorie cycling, most days I eat at a deficit (because I want to lose some fat) and other days I'll eat at my maintenance or at a surplus. Has helped tremendously along with exercise, and when I haven't been able to exercise from chronic chest strain!

I actually thought about this when downloading My Fitness Pal. I’m naturally petite and very short. I have social anxiety and things started getting worse at the end of high school and it affected my eating. (Years later I self diagnosed myself with ARFID) I downloaded the app a few years ago to track my calories and see how much I needed to gain to be at the “healthy” weight for my size. The app told the weight information I put in was incorrect and wouldn’t let me go forward. I thought damn that’s weird because the weight I input was there on the wheel. It made me feel worse about myself. I also thought this isn’t inclusive for people that have EDs and are trying to recover (idk if people with ED would even try to track calories for weight gain but that was just a random thought) I after years of going to the doctor and my blood work being fine and the fact that I have a regular mensural cycle. I realized I’m fine and it’s okay for me to be skinny/petite. Now I’m three months pregnant and the baby is growing healthy.

Rose, I would like you to know that you taught me how to structure my meals. I have your cookbooks and for a while, all I ate was your recipes. When I graduated to other recipes, I structered my meals to your recipes. You helped me recover from my binge ED, and I will be forever gratefull to you :)

Love the video. Just had the bibim men noodles today because my bf loves them hahaha. He just bought 16 packages hahaha. I think your approach about calorie counting is good. However, even I have done it for a couple of years I realised it is not for me because I got too focused on it and restrictive; I couldn't enjoy food anymore when I couldn't weigh it... I also use MyFitnessPal and the same 50/30/20of goals for carbohydrates/fat/protein. The number in the front is the amount of calories one should eat WITHOUT exersice. So what someone should eat that is lying in bed the whole day not moving at all. Even on a lazy home office day one would definitely use at least additional 200kcal for exersice. And on days with a lot of walking around that number can go easily up to 500kcal+ even without extra sport. Which is why I use an additional fitness tracker watch which counts my steps and heart rate and calculates the additional calories I use up. I try to eat only around 100kcal under my "output". I don't think looking weight fast will last. Like you said in another video: it is a lifestyle change.😊

I tried to go vegan thus summer. It resulted in a low hemoglobin -7.5. What do you eat for iron!
@hazelgracelancaster28254 жыл бұрын
Amazing iron sources are nuts (cashews, almonds...), seeds (sesame, subflower), oats, whole grains, quinoa, amaranth, legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas), sugar beet syrup, dried fruits, dark chocolate, green vegetables (kale, spinach), soy products (tofu, tempeh). Make sure to pare it with a source of vitamin C (raw red bell pepper and strawberries are extremely high in vitamin C, but every fruit or vegetable will be fine) and don't drink coffee with it since caffeine gives your body a harder time absorbing the iron. I'd recommend trying to incorporate an iron source in every meal, for example: oats with fruit and nut butter, a sandwhich with whole-wheat breas, hummus and veggies, lentil daal with carrots or simply a salad with quinoa, chickpeas, veggies and a tahini dressing. You'll find lists with food's iron contents online. As a vegan or vegetarian, you should regularly check your iron levels and take supplements if they're alarmingly low. Speak to your doctor or dietitian and they'll surely help you. Good luck :)
