Hey Andrew! I have a pretty off-the-track question for the other side of things. I'm a recruiter looking for a Cloud Security Operations Engineer, what are some engineering positions I could look for outside of people already working in your position that would be solid to reach out to possibly move into work as a Cloud Security Engineer? DevOps? General Cloud Engineers? Would help me widen my search like crazy.
@AndrewRoe3 жыл бұрын
Hey! The answer to this question may vary depending on who you ask as some tittles in cloud are a bit convoluted. For example the role you’re looking for is already a bit strange to me because you’re putting operations and engineering in the same title. To me those are two different things. Is there a job description? In the meantime I’d say that talking to cloud engineers and cloud security engineers are your best bets for right now. Although I’d have to see the job description. Hope that helps!
@shegade8567 Жыл бұрын
This is a year later so probably too late as you probably have that covered already but just in case someone else was reading this and had a similar question, yes, DevOps Engineers (and Solutions Architects + Cloud Engineers) are a great bet. You should probably look out for those that have done some security testing during the course of their job functions, look for how familiar they are with secret protection, IAM and stuff like that. There's a good chance folks like that already do some sort of cloud security job functions and would be able to transfer to this field comfortably.

For me it sounds like an architect not engineer
@AndrewRoe Жыл бұрын
i don't really see the difference. a non technical architect isn't very useful on today's engineering teams.

The question should be are the architects useful if engineers eventually do most of architects job 😂

you're really bad at explaining your own job. Your entire video is just you tossing random thoughts you have regarding your job but not really describing what your job really is about. You keep talking about finding solutions to problems your clients want, but you have not actually describe the problem that you're trying to solve, nor did you describe what a solution might look like. This tells me nothing about what a cloud security engineer do, other than they set some policies about passwords and doing some cost analysis on something or other. you list some things that other people not covering when they talk about this job, but have you listened to your own video and see whether you've actually covered any of those things in this video??
@AndrewRoe Жыл бұрын
I think I covered things pretty well in the video. If you're looking for technical solutions I build those as well in other videos. Feel free to check them out.

Sorry but security architects are the most lazy folks and an over rated career . Worked with tons of security architects and most were naive or relying on several tools and just arrogant
@AndrewRoe2 жыл бұрын
Think this is an over generalization and I'd caution you taking this assumption forward when working with your next security architect.
