I'd be interested in learning about digital marketing. My wife does digital marketing (for a firm) but is interested in branching off on her own to have a bit more freedom and income. Just not sure where to start. I bet I'd even be able to convert her to a MojoGrip fan. "Honey, we should buy a Sling because Mike said so!"

Humility, honesty, and passion. These things can't be taught by any course, or bought with money. Mike, I would have to say that your greatest assets were given to you by those who raised you. Likewise, your daughter will learn these traits, and will have any success she desires. Best wishes from a recent pilot in Canada.

I was going to write the same thing about his personality. Instead I'll say I was looking @ flight simulators then courses & requirements to get a pilots licenses. I'm glad I ran across this channel bc I think everyone can appreciate the honesty & humility that you show. It's rare to see anyone admit their faults today or for people to not give up on their dreams when things go wrong. Nice to see & congratulations on conquering your dreams!

I not only love your videos, but I love your enthusiasm. Many years ago, a jealous former friend said to me, "you were born with a golden horseshoe up your a$$" because I was very successful in my career and business ventures. Well, I worked 12 -14 hours a day, six days a week and made many sacrifices along the way...to get "lucky".

Thank you for sharing, Mike. You are obviously intelligent, driven, and humble. It takes a lot to be so successful. I had a career that allowed me to afford flying lessons and with the help and encouragement of my brother was able to obtain my private pilot license, even though I thought my disability would not allow it. I own an old C172 that I've managed to hang on to even heading in to retirement. Flying, even though not often and not very far out, is the most enjoyable and proudest accomplishment forme, I just love it.

Mike optimizes the old saying, consistent effort and hard work will lead to success. Great to see a young person with this type of drive. As a now retired aeronautical engineer, I had a lot of good ideas back in the day, but never the courage (maybe drive) to move them forward. Good on you, man! You deserve everything you have EARNED!

Greetings Mike, from South Africa! As the saying goes, "Question: What does it take to fly? Answer: Everything you've got!" Seriously though, congratulations on your success, you have my admiration and respect for what you have achieved through drive and talent, and I am sure, not a little hard work! I always loved to read/view the success stories of other successful people as those are often inspiring and help me to think positively about business etc., and I would feel confident that your telling of your story will inspire others as well to shoot for success!

You are very lucky. Being young helps too. I have been (financially) way up, then been way down. It's not about "hard work". I've worked hard all of my life...its mostly just being consistent and a lot of "luck" in your effort to attempt something. My drive and ambition aren't what they used to be so I prefer the complacency in which I live. I don't like the stress of "go-go-go" and the fear of losing it again. I applaud your drive and ambition, Mike. Thanks for sharing your vlogs.

Well, i notice over the time that I have been watching your videos that you are not the regular guy or a topical joe 9-5 jobs, etc. when someone asks you what you are doing for leaving is because they want to know how much money you make simple as that, I'm a master plumber and is funny how other people approach me to ask this question, don't worry we are in the same boat. Most people do not sacrifice anything to get something; they want free life or inheritance money; good luck with that.

The cost of flying is crazy. I walked away from trying to make a living as a pilot in 2000... the 90s were difficult for pilots, especially where I was living. The bottom line is that I was flying professionally, but I was making zero dollars for over two years. It took twenty-two years of working to be able to get back to flying; with two masters degrees, while my wife has a doctorate degree, and we both work full time, we have no debt except for our house, we run a business on the side, and yet.... I still can just now afford to fly an hour per month. I say this because it really is awesome to at least be able to live vicariously through people like you on KZbin. Since getting back in the cockpit this last summer, I've soaked up the aviation videos for entertainment and learning, and I love it. So thanks, and keep up the good content!

it is simple!! if you are lazy you will have nothing. if you work you will have something to show and if you are smart you work hard and then get to the point where someone works for you that is th point where it becomes a business. and failure is just another step forward. great job and anyone that envies you needs to work as hard as you to get there too. :)

Mike you don’t owe anyone an explanation. I’ve been watching your videos for a while. But you do have an interesting career. I wish I knew more about business. I don’t think it’s appropriate for people to ask why you can afford it, when they wouldn’t ask some other people. I know you get what I’m saying. Glad you’re doing what you love. Thanks for making great content and sharing your dream with us. Look forward to more videos. And if you offer a business course, my middle son and I are both all in.

Sorry but I still feel like we didn’t learn anything of what Mike had told us that he would let us know about how he can afford his airplane and lifestyle. Just stating your an entrepreneur or digital marketing doesn’t say much. No disrespect Mike, Happy your doing well of course, and you must be an awful good money manager being able to employ all those guys for a hundred grand as the other person stated ! Your doing well so keep up whatever your doing 👍

6:20 seems he did hint at everything though, he showed a picture of his income streams. He saved money doing 'digital marketing', whatever that is, could be anything from photoshop work to SEO to porn sites (I joke) but whatever. He used the money he saved to purchase real estate and probably that is where he lost money around 2007-8. He kept his first gig (he mentioned he still runs it) and probably next thing he did was invest into some pilot running a flying school or maybe that is when he became a part investor in that business renting out private airplanes. I think he made it all pretty clear.

so great to see all the enterepeneurs, I'm in the same boat. 37 now, have always been an entrepeneur (minus one year, where I tried regular employment as a senior software engineer. I couldn't get used to the strict time schedule :) ) built multiple shopify apps, generating enough monthly revenue for me and my team, and the apps allowed me to fly. almost time for my checkride. I have recently sold my biggest app, so I can focus more on the other app who I believe has a lot more potential in the future, and requires a lot less time in development and support.

Mike, aviation was an unexpected gateway for me to start to understand some of what you're saying here. I'm still a bunny but from my early 30s I started meeting people who would have seemed "rich" previously but who were actually just enthusiastic people who made stuff happen. None of them drove luxury vehicles or have posh lives yet they owned aircraft generally have bigger lives with more options. This slowly opened my eyes to the next level of being in control of your life and stepping above the basic retail world of wanting stuff that is presented to us in advertising all the time. I started thinking about the world differently. I stopped wanting the next phone or car, partly because the huge amount of money you blow in order to ride the front of those waves means you can't do other stuff that is vastly cooler and more helpful in the world.

When you have dreams coupled with the drive and passion to make them a reality, you will do what you must, to reach them. Note that people like that will almost never do anything illegal or dishonest to reach their goals. Whereas people with unbridled ambition are more likely to be dishonest. I am speaking in generalizations here. Mike, I feel, is of the honest, hard working type and his son will probably be very proud to have such a good man as a father.

I've been scared of it all my whole life. Only now do I finally have the courage to do it. Unfortunately I don't have the money to fly but I could still jump out of an airplane and start a business. We started together almost exactly!! But my parents got sick and dad was on peritoneal dialysis at home ! So I took care of him for five years! Now I’m 56 and my mom needs me so looks like my dreams gets out on back burner I have 62 hours of flight time!! I was just getting ready for my landings and takeoff and then learn my VFR etc 😅 that and reading all the information just I couldn’t do it and didn’t have the time but I’m gonna get back into it that’s why I love watching your videos one day I’ll be there I like you to the Kitfox or like the sling and maybe one other one I like that also the one from Africa Bushcat! I just don’t like the engine hundred horsepower rotax non fuel injected but I’m a big 6’5 297 and both theses plane fit tall guys!! How tall does your sling fit a person? What’s the height limit you know on your sling you were going to sell or did you sell it yet? Because I wanted to build my own but I never had the opportunity it’s Cool when I do because I’m good with all that kind of stuff welding electrical etc painting.. But Keep up the great work love all your videos they always give great info and stuff I want to know you do great research on your show, you inspire people.👍👍👍👍🤗😁. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL TOI DO MIKE!!!👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
