Recycling containers is awesome! I keep all my grits in Costco-sized ground coffee cans. Good old duct tape and black Sharpie are used for labeling each. I also have semi-clear containers similar to yours for various rocks - Stage 1, Stage 2, etc. - as well as "to cut" or "porous" (DON'T tumble!). I agree, it's so fun to get the boxes out and "play" with the collection. I should do a video of mine! I always enjoy your informative videos!! Keep up the great work. ROCK ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️

Thank you! Yes I’m working my way there! It is quite expensive though and I want to make sure I have good equipment-it will be even fun once I do get some lapidary stuff though! 😊
@WorldofRockhounds3 жыл бұрын
@Agate Ariel admittedly it can be expensive but consider it an investment. Even if you can find used equipment to get you started, you can always start there and work your way up if you find that you enjoy it. Just one investment at a time :)

It's always cool to see how other Rockhounders store their Rockhound Treasure. It doesn't take long to get overwhelming if you're an active Rockhound so it definitely helps to keep everything organized from the start. Good video! Thanks

These are my fancy one's, the blue bunny one's 😂..love it Cutting with a tile saw is a lot of fun, except for having to wear a respirator, safety glasses and earplugs lol, I also take my favorite stones I polish and wire wrap a lot of then, hole less, you maybe should look into wire wrapping, you can make amazing peices of jewelry with your favorite finds, I learned on here/KZbin how to do it. Great video Ariel, it put a smile on my face. Have a great Sunday 😃

Time to put a shout out to Taylor to do some cutting for ya!😂😂. Oh those poor polished rocks. so hidden away. I’ve gotten a couple large glass jars, like the ones you would store coffee grounds in with the snap down lid and rubber seal. One is now full and soon to be filling the next. I keep em displayed on my book shelf. (not in some dark closet prison 😜😆)

I recently finished a pack of Oreos and used the tray that the cookies were in to store small rocks. Comes with 3 sections. :)
@kirbycraft93253 жыл бұрын
Yep, small to medium Dollar Store and Family Dollar containers work perfectly. A sectional one is next. I have a few agates that I keep wrapped in tissue in a pencil box, and one of my wifes' Birchbox boxes. Those are nodules that I don't want to chip or crack. I fancily keep mine under our bed.

Ok, organizing is one thing, but - show us the rocks! I organize my rocks into four categories, each category has its own 5-gallon bucket on the back porch. 1) Agates & chalcedony 2) Moss agates & jasper 3) Petrified wood (this bucket has long since overflowed...) 4) Other - mostly banded chert and odd-balls.

Love that! Yes each container has their own purpose and type of rocks! Next time I will have to take a deeper dive 😉
