You gave us your honest assessments of some pet peeves about Berlin so no one should get bent out of shape. I appreciated your candor and the whole kitchen thing sounds RIDICULOUS. Thar would drive me ape crap. Stupidest thing ever. Since I'm only planning on visiting Germany, and not make a move there, none of these are deal breakers. Thanks for your continued quality videos. Beautiful personality too.

Berlin is definitely not a perfect city, it has a lot of good things, but of course there is also a lot to improve. The bureaucracy is a mess, it's made so complicated from the government that people don't like to do something. The money is going into the wrong pocket's and the wrong places, it's not used for or for more people or a better digitalisation, no it's getting used for unnecessary things. Berlin is in the northern hemisphere, we can't change the place and move on with the whole city to somewhere else, so the lack of sunshine is a normal thing. Go up to north of Europe and you will find much more darkness. The thing is that a lot of people don't respect the city, a whole bunch of people like to live in the city and don't care about the place. Sometimes, they think it's not my hometown or my country and i can make a mess, wherever I am, because nobody knows me here. Cleaning all the garbage is a full-time job and needs to be done. Berlin was never the cleanest city in Germany, but it was not always that dirty like now. What have you actually really seen from Berlin? Altstadt Köpenick with castle, Friedrichshagen, Mahlsdorf, Altstadt Spandau + Zitadelle Spandau, Gartenstadt Staaken, Nikolassee, Tempelhofer Hafen, Dahlem, Grünau, Frohnau, Friedenau, Schlachtensee, Mexico Platz, Rüdesheimer Platz, The Botanical Garden, Alt-Tegel, Heidelberger Platz, Savigny Platz, Wannsee, Schmargendorf, Alt Lübars, Schmöckwitz, Hoppegarten, Gärten der Welt, Grunewald, Pfaueninsel, Neu Venedig + Rahnsdorf + Müggelsee, Klein Venedig, Spittelmarkt, Märkisches Museum, Spandauer Vorstadt mit dem Scheunenviertel, Luisenstadt und Engelbecken, Britzer Garten mit Mühle, Volkspark Friedrichshain, Volkspark Jungfernheide, Schloß Charlottenburg, Lichtenrade, Museumsinsel and many more. Berlin is not one city, it's a combination of different cities within a city limit.

Thanks for watching and for all the suggestions. I particularly prefer the South and South West of Berlin which is much more beautiful. Grunewald, Wansee, Zehlendorf etc are so green calm and beautiful.

@@robertzander9723 From reading your comment, I suppose you're a long-time local resident of Berlin, and you seem to confirm my impressions, so I'd like your feedback please. I have never lived in Berlin, but I visited it twice, once in 1986 when I stayed in West Berlin arriving from East Berlin (a transsiberian trip on my way to France), and the second and last time in 2017. I was a teenager when I discovered East and West Berlin, and at the time it left a big impression on me, which is why I have a soft spot for that city. Despite the horror of the wall, I was very impressed by how beautiful and pompous the buildings in Mitte were, and I remember the place as clean, especially West Berlin. I was also impressed by the green spaces, Tiergarten in particular, and the lakes. The modern face of West Berlin was also at the time quite enticing for a European, especially a teenager, in other words, it seemed very advanced. I remember dining in what I believe was a sort of local pub, dishes presented as local specialty food (some meat-on-the-bone dish if I remember well) and befriending there strikingly open-minded, friendly and fun locals. Ku'damm smelt of luxury, West Berlin seemed to be posh and innovative in equal parts, and very dynamic. I also loved London in those times, and this seemed like a concentrate of a similar vibe, 1,000 fold. This is what I brought back from this very short, improvised stay (I was on a school trip back from China and not supposed to stay there, but just take another train at Berlin Zoo station past the border at Friedrichstraße station). Did I get a wrong impression back then? Every single video about today's Berlin mentions how dirty it is and how rude the locals are. I went back in 2017, now a mature adult of course, with these memories, prepared for a slap in the face. Stepped out of the Tegel bus at Zoo station and a junkie asked me for money, which I couldn't resist giving. Took another bus to reach my hotel and asked the driver for directions and was answered: "I'm not a #@&% tour guide!". Thankfully, I remembered the surroundings quite well and found my hotel on my own. During my visits of the city, I was quite shocked to realize how close to each other former East and West Berlin areas were, for instance when taking a bus between Zoo and Alexanderplatz, that seemed so far away back then! It's a bit as if my mind were constantly switching between former West and East Berlin with an invisible wall in my head... Is that something that locals who lived during that era experience, too? All this to say, in 1986, I left with images of Berlin that I love to this date, I love the skyline with its tv tower, the Siegessäule & Tiergarten, Brandenburger Tor, the Oriental entrance of the zoo, the Europa center, Ku'damm, Charlottenburg palace, the museums, even the S-bahn (loved the wooden trains at the time), and the grandeur of the historic center in Mitte, in fact many iconic landmarks are in my opinion beautiful, contrary to what is commonly said. Of course, it wasn't surprising that the city had changed so much, I was only a bit disappointed that the pub culture appears to be long gone to the point nobody seems to remember it (I don't like to drink but I loved the atmosphere and traditional food). Also in the 80s one of our group of students spoke better German than the rest of us and knew Berlin already, so we didn't use English. When I went back in 2017, I used my very basic German but was always answered to in English except for the "ick bin keen #@&% Reiseführer!". Time and time again, I've wished I had a longer, more in-depth experience of Berlin, which is why I watch these videos, one could say to check out what I'm missing (or not). I'm still a bigger fan of the bourgeois neighborhoods of former West Berlin than the trendy places favored by younger people, but that's probably a generational thing. I'd love your most honest reaction if you don't mind.
