@tangerinecoral18224 жыл бұрын
Hey Lydia, I enjoyed this video. However, a pet peeve of mine is people demonising 'carbs'. I assume what you meant when you referred to all the 'carbs' you ate over the weekend, you meant less nutrient-dense foods e.g. white bread/pasta etc. Your smoothie was purely 'carbs' with no fat or protein. Not trying to pick hairs but I just find it a bit misleading to lump all 'carbs' as bad while not really showing an understanding of what they actually are.
@lydiavioleta_4 жыл бұрын
tangerinecoral sorry yeah, I completely get where you’re coming from! I should have specified, as you said I meant more unhealthy foods such as pasta, white bread! X
@alexb82634 жыл бұрын
tangerinecoral yeah I say ‘carbs’ referring to bread, rice and pasta too. I think it’s a common misconception as to what they actually are. I love all carbs though!

Why don’t you go full vegetarian? Don’t you think eating fish is just as cruel as eating chicken/cows/pigs?
@robynx41404 жыл бұрын
There are environmental benefits to not eating fish. Think how much marine life is harmed whilst fishing. Fishing nets harm dolphins, seals etc. And by eating fish you are contributing to that industry.
@Brianna583214 жыл бұрын
Robyn X There are plenty of reasons why some people can’t go vegetarian. 1) If you’re going to use the argument or harm then the dairy and poultry industry is incredibly exploitive and harmful as well. 2) Many people simply can not afford to deviate from the diet of their household - their family may be pescatarian, making it harder for them to cut out the staple of a household. 3) Internalising the problem and suggesting it’s an individual duty rather than the responsibility of governments and industries to regulate and become more ethical is counterproductive; hold industries accountable by striking and protesting rather than internalising it. People like myself have many nutritional deficiencies which means we need vitamins and proteins from fish and meat. I was vegetarian for a year and struggled significantly with financing it and actually eating, I had fainting spells and consistent fatigue from a vegetarian lifestyle. You can’t judge over a screen when you know nothing of other people’s lifestyles???
@Brianna583214 жыл бұрын
Robyn X Also, to most people in most scientific research, consuming animals is a natural part of life and nutrition. Just because the industry is inhumane now doesn’t mean it wasn’t a natural function in primitive and hunter-and-father systems. There are also cultural elements as well. Tribes within my ethnicity promote the respect and consumption of animals. Militant vegetarianism and veganism only discourages more and more fish and meat eaters away from slowly cutting it out of their lives than it motivates man.
@robynx41404 жыл бұрын
brianna golr I am anaemic and I’m vegan. I take prescribed iron deficiency tablets and vitamins so it’s really not that difficult. Stop making excuses. You can have protein from Quorn products and protein shakes. Yes I’m more tired than I was when I used to eat meat but it is worth it for the animals. Talking about primitive times is ridiculous. People had to eat meat back then because there were no alternatives but there are so many alternatives and substitutes that everyone should at least try and substitute even 1 meal a week. I’m glad Lydia is pescatarian and cuts out dairy but I just think why not go full vegetarian as there is as much cruelty in the fishing industry as there is in the meat industry.

I’ve got a restrictive eating disorder so I’m so nervous about food, it’s a huge insecurity for me and I get so paranoid about it especially when I eat around strangers. I barely eat/cook around my family and they’re used to me. So I really hope this puts my nerves to rest 😅
