I've done ultra trail races for a few years and hands down the best advice I received a couple years back is to not overthink things. Run a lot (in your case bike and swim as well, also "a lot" is relative to the race), do some strength work but nothing that will negatively impact your run, swim and bike sessions, focus on recovery, eat and drink enough and do some mental stamina strengthening as well (your fear of the cold could be a good place to build your mental strength that may well translate into performance on race day strength)

I absolutely LOVE your videos 😍 I have finally found another foodie like me (yes I also eat spoonfuls of pb straight from the jar!!). I have been running for many years and I am also aiming to complete a triathlon at the end of this year :) I find these running interval workouts really effective: 1) - 10min warm up - 4 sets of 3mins on, 2mins off (jog it out) -10min cool down run 2) - 2-3km warm up - 4x 1km on, 1km recovery jog - 2-3km cool down run 3) - 2-3km warmup - Pyramid style: 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1mins on, with 90s jog recovery in between each interval (aim is to have a slightly faster speed in each following interval as the time decreases) - 2-3km cool down run These require you to keep up speed for longer periods of time than what you have been doing with the 1min intervals, but it is super beneficial because the slightly longer intervals are a lot more specific for training for something long distance like an Ironman event :) I hope this was helpful!! You’re killing it 👊🏼👊🏼

Hi! Looks like training is going well. RE: running, as you’re going for more endurance based events, for your run intervals/sessions I would mix it up with VO2 intervals (shorter reps, longer recoveries) e.g 8-12 x 400m off 200m float (fast shuffle/jog recovery) or 8 x 3 mins off 90 secs recovery, or 3 mins, 2 mins, 1 min, 30 sec x 2 sets. Another really important session/run is to do tempo or threshold work to improve your lactate threshold. Either doing longer intervals such as 3-5 x 5 min blocks, and build up to maybe 10-20 mins at threshold e.g 2 x 10 mins, etc and also include a tempo run for a sustained block - 20 mins and build up to 45 mins tempo

LOVE these videos! In terms of interval training, I use a Garmin Forerunner 235 which I programme the session to, so that it times all the intervals for me. I’d recommend doing a different session each week, I vary between 1-10 min intervals if its by time, and 200m- 1 mile intervals if I’m running by distance. Also pyramid sessions are good training, eg. 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min, 5 min, 4 min, 3 min, 2 min, 1 min. Hope this helps! :)

Hi Stephanie and Grant I loved the Middle Eastern wrap you had because I'm interested because I never had Middle Eastern food. And it has been cold here too for being spring time, but I have been wearing a warm sweatshirt and leggings on my run so after warming up I feel pretty good outside. I have done 1,000 K intervals quite often and 800m. I also though did something called a tempo run which is like a practice race and it was good for my 10K races, it would be 3K repeats and I did kind of a practice race of a 3 Mile Run with warmup and cool down. I would do the 3 Mile Run at 80% of my race pace, but I have to say it's much easier with a friend to run with to keep you at a fast pace at practice though. I hope you are having a good day and I look forward to your next videos : )

@@nuttyfoodiefitness That depends! Right now iv'e been doing this, inside during winter - 3 min on, 3 min off for 60min Otherwise: 3 min on, get to a certain HR, then on again. 3 min jog, 3 min sprint, 3 min walk - loop 3 min on, 1.5 min walk It depends on the day, my goal, and how much stats I want. If my goal is to acctually see my results in my app or watch or if the intrevalls are just a part of something bigger. And of cours how long i do my intervall training for.

definitely switch up the intervals every week, although im not a triathlete im an international cross country runner and switching up the distances and times of your intervals every week helps you to set yourself into a known pace- if that makes sense. for example one week do 3x6mins 4mins recovery, then the week after do something like 12x45s 75s recovery. also STRETCH (or atleast foam roll) itll only hinder your progress if you dont!
