What I learned from standing on one leg every day. In this video, I am going to show you how to improve single leg balance. Some benefits of single leg balance include:
-improved hip stability
-improved core strength
-posture correction
-better ankle stability.
According to American Council On Exercise “Balance not only enhances physical performance, but also contributes to improving psychological and emotional states by building self-efficacy and confidence.

I used to stand on one leg half an hour in the subway on my way to high school, and back home I stood on the other leg and just had a pole close to me in case I loose balance when the subway turn or breaks. After a semester even if I was among the slimmest lightweight guys in my tae kwon do club no one could push me down when we had one leg competitions of wrestling and pushing and pulling each other down from one leg in the whole group of 20-30 students, I won every time and the big 85 kilo instructors could never get how this little 67 kilo teen could keep winning and being the last man standing in the room week after week… So, ya to practice standing on one leg does work!

I am 75 and started doing this a bit over a year ago EVERY DAY. And my balance has improved in a tiny, very tiny, amount- but my goal is 30seconds. If I do three on my left and five seconds on my right I am gratified. But I shall not quit!

JEROLD PAQUETTE I could have done without seeing this. I was expecting much faster progress. I'm 84. By the way, you might try balancing on alternate legs on a firm cushion. Maybe standing on one leg is too discouraging for a beginner. (Sat Jul 30, 2022)

He's right. A lot of people could learn from this production style. I also like that you didn't front-load all the requests for Like, Subscribe, Click Bell for Notifications, etc. Instead you delivered quality content and only asked in an understated way at the end. That was part of what encouraged me to subscribe. Thank you for this video.

I really like your channel. No obnoxious thumbnails or clickbait behavior, nor do you seem overly into yourself. You seem really calm, friendly, and down to earth, and give really simple advice for people to follow. Just hanging from a bar, or standing on one foot are great things I can easily add throughout my day. I wish you all the success. You seem like a great person =)

I did exactly that! Also I care for lovely elderly people and I do this while waiting for them to do things like cleaning their teeth - this trains me in patience and slows me down, and although they don't know I'm doing it, it seems to stop them feeling rushed and keeps everyone happy!!

@@quabledistocficklepo3597 not you mean by normal? If you don't have health issues that might prevent you, then try and stand holding on to something as lightly as possible and do even two seconds at first. Gradually more seconds and letting go too for seconds at first, just work up very gradually. Some people never get 'good at it ' if that's a thing, any seconds help, all the best to you x

I’ve been doing this for many years….I started doing it after I caught a virus which amongst other things badly affected my balance. Standing on one leg was something I started doing as part of my recovery…..but as mentioned here, I also found that it had many other benefits so I continued even after I was fully recovered. I’m now even able to do it with my eyes closed.

I was feeling frustrated with my physical condition having had Fibromyalgia for many years. I want to exercise but didn't know where to start and my confidence was SO LOW. This simple task changed everything... It was a place to start! I was able to gain confidence daily as I got better. After years of not exercising I have a newfound desire to get up and make progress physically. Thank you so so much!!
