I've collected 11 boards so far to build myself a desk. Used the tails for espresso tools though and they turned out great!

honestly you were the first creator that inspired me to attempt wood working and thankfully for me i was a plumber already so i had some basic tools and was able to start recycling my old board with that said id love to see you do a video where you only used very basic tools drill,circular saw, hand tools ect and see how far you can push it

I just wish the audio on the "wooo"s wasn't so compressed now. I think it's because he's wearing a lavalier mic these days? The "wooos" on the older videos got me so hyped 😅 But now they just sound like they are dubbed in. Yes I'm here for the woodworking stuff too 😤

Gripmaster 6000 thoughts. You've already got the temperature dialled in, hot enough to melt the glue but not burn anything. What you need is the same temperature, but more heat. You can achieve that by just making a slightly longer tunnel. The catch with more heat is that you'll need to speed up the wheel to push the boards through faster. But, as the wheel is running a little fast already, that's two problems that fix each other.

Thank you for walking us through the milling and building process. Knowing about using the table saw and how you get all the cuts is good. Understanding how you work through a process is very helpful in milling skateboards and any other woodworking projects.

IMHO the only thing to improve for the degripper 5000 is all the live wires you have outside, which can be quite dangerous if you/someone touche them while in operation.

To improve the degripper contraption 5000, make it longer and add a single preheat bar. See if it helps and then likely adjust the heat. That’s my best guess

Amazing and simple and looks so good. What I learned is that if you miss a cut, its a lot of additional work to replace that piece. That is quite a lot of prep work just to be able to start building.

One technique you did not elaborate on was when you were crosscutting the strips you cut in halfway flipped it over and cut the rest in order to prevent blowout. Pretty important detail.

You should look into the KM Tools Benchtop Router Table for 3X3 Custom Trim Router Jig as an alternative to clamping the cordless router upside down with a vise... Doesn't take up much space, it's less sketchy and it's already compatible with your Dewalt router... Would be cool to see that in your shop... Love you designs and videos... You inspire me to be creative and think outside the box

It's cool seeing projects using the flat side of boards. Granted it's not an aesthetic you would want for a kitchen or office table, but makes for some interesting decorative pieces.

Improvements for the de-gripper. Take a look at conveyor dryers for T Shirts. Not so much to buy, but the design. There are plans for DIY ones, and I think that would be perfect for your needs. Good video. By the way. The heating elements do create radiation, but not anything that is harmful.

A lot of people have suggested steaming the boards to make them flat. I don't think that it would work because unlike solid wood they are laminated together with glue and it would delaminate them.

Seems like an easier fix to slow the de-gripper would be to change the size of the dowel that is being driven. I’m not sure if you would make it bigger or smaller, but suspicion it would need to be bigger. Raising it up, maybe adding an infeed and outfeed pair of dowels would lessen the distance the heat had to travel and thus make it functionally hotter. But that’s all musings from someone who hasn’t actually tried it out! :)
@oscargortez
@oscargortez 9 ай бұрын
If he makes the dowel bigger though, then he'd probably have to peel off more of the grip tape by hand in the beginning.. and then it might not be worth it due to the extra effort in the beginning. I'm guessing the size he uses is a good middle ground, since he was peeling griptapes before he ever made it.

Have you considered a significantly larger hydraulic press to completely flatten them while covered in epoxy? This would allow for resawwing into long same color strips.
