Learning any language takes a lot of time and effort. In addition Japanese is probably the most difficult language in the world, so relax... You already speak English... relax. ;)

When people give time estimates on how long it takes to learn Japanese they always assume ideal circumstances and that the student is among the most talented and motivated. Always. It’s always inspiring to hear from people who learn Japanese in two years or less but they are the 1%. Not that you shouldn’t try your best to learn as quickly as possible but be realistic when you look back and judge your progress. Be kind.

I've watched your other video and it really motivated me. I myself tried to learn a language(thai) the start of quarantine and after a month I've fall into the hole of anime's and asian dramas that I lost track of it. I was really frustrated because the thai alphabet is really complicated and I spent a long time learning it and by the time I was able to kinda read I just lost track. Looking back at it I really regretted not able to continue my progress.
@victorialim3 жыл бұрын
No point regretting, just learn and move forward! You can always get back to Thai :) 💪🏻 all the best !

I'm studying Japanese on my own for the past few months* well, of course, didn't consistent*. These past few weeks I felt so burnt out because even with all the self-study I couldn't speak Japanese yet, I feel like I didn't make any progress at all. But I guess it was faith to meet your video. You gave me a new mindset and I felt like I'm more motivated now. I felt at ease knowing that I'm not the only one who feels the same way as you. As such, thank you for making this video, thank you for your sweet advice!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Language learning is hard!! It’s okay to take things one step at a time and take lessons if you feel self study isn’t working for you :) hope you find your rhythm soon!

I've been following your videos for a couple of months, and to be honest, I've found your content the most helpful for me. Also, I'm planning to apply to Yale this season as an International student from Bangladesh, and your videos were the most informative for Internationals. Just wanted to appreciate you and wish you all the best! ❤️

I started learning hiragana and katakana last yr and stopped afterwards. Its so hard to actually commit to this on your own so i joined an online class to get more accountability. Best of luck to us! 🙏🏼

Hi Victoria, i am learning Japanese! I am going to do a online Japanese lesson, do you have any tips for me to study on top of my online lesson, to stay motivated and for me to learn that might be fun and for me to remember better?

Thank you for the update! I just wanted to ask how is your japanese now? From N5-N1 where do you think you are in?
@victorialim4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’m not sure, but I’d put myself at N5 haha! Even if some of my textbook knowledge has crossed into N4, I am not the most comfortable at using what I know (reading, writing, speaking) and so I wouldn’t want to overstate my abilities :)

Well note taking doesn't help, grammar study doesn't help and handwriting doesn't help. You should have read a lot like in libre where you can look up würds, you should have have watched japanese content with Japanese subtitles and you should have listened to more native podcasts. Immersion is King
