Get rid of the forced slag, have OP an option. Let is level up faster. If you beat the game once, allow to start a fresh second quest on level 30-50. Borderlands 2 got really fun with the trees as you could double cap, but that took so long, and then you were forced to slag with Moxxi amd farm Harold's. Very tedious and inrewardingvto the semi-casual. And make Rifles and shotguns like BL1...mashers!?!

@@yourstatistacs maybe forgot the comma. Miss GOOD masters. They lowered base damage so much the gimmick was worthless. Once in a blue moon you'd get a Jacob's Masher rifle that did anything. The legendaries were good, but...they were all OP. Rifles were good in BL1, and they made them DooDoo in BL2. While great overall in BL3, reload time made you want to ditch Vladov, which were pretty cool. Shotguns were good in BL1. Hit hard, and had sniper shotguns with S&S. Nice when electricity amd could pop Guardians in the sky.

I'm 50/50 with the gunplay of 3's aside from the alt fire mode being on BL2's guns. With only a few things changed like what was done in Pre-Sequel like Hyperion shooting slower but you notice the accuracy boost. Aside from that shotguns need to be more defined with there brands/parts, Hyperion's being single barrel with the 2nd largest mag(Heart Breaker is what comes to mind), Jakobs being one shot reload no matter what, and Bandit with larger mags.

Something that I would give BL2 over 3 is the purple weapons, which sucks because BL3 Purples are amazing design wise so it sucks that they're just so outclassed, to the point where BL3 had to have a number of pretty generic legendaries that were basically just purples with usable stats. Some of my favorite weapons in BL2 are nonunique weapons, the Quad, the Topneaa, pretty much all of the plasma casters, the Synergy. I could go on really and all of these can tango in the endgame, but I don't really feel the same way about BL3's selection which is a damn shame.
@yourstatistacs
@yourstatistacs 3 ай бұрын
This is well said, I always praise the variety in BL3 but there is something to be said for variety in rarities that can also be viable at endgame. I will 100% give that to BL2 because blues and purples don't have any good ones in BL3

I think BL2 is more fun for a min maxer/hardcore borderlands player who likes the grind. UVHM-OP10 almost require you to be fully kitted out in order to not die. BL3 is more fun for casual borderlands players who want to experiment with non optimal stuff and random guns. BL3 at the hardest difficulty is significantly easier than BL2 at the hardest difficulty and that’s neither good nor bad, but it does allow players to use stuff that isn’t “meta” more reliably. I do think BL2 has better vault hunters though, aside from fl4k, I don’t think the BL3 vault hunter have enough identity behind their (many) builds. I like how BL2 vault hunter are more defined in their playstyles, if you want to snipe go zer0, if you want to tank be Krieg, if you want to run and gun be salv or maya, melee go zer0 or kreig, you want support play axton, you want to torture yourself play Gaige. For me that’s personally more interesting than the Bl3 approach of all characters being relativity decent at everything with a couple standouts like melee amara, speed demon Zane, crit damage fl4k and splash damage moze. I personally like the more defined playtstyles of BL2 but as someone who likes to play zer0 the most I might be hypocritical because you can melee, snipe or run and gun with him all very effectively.
@yourstatistacs
@yourstatistacs 3 ай бұрын
I disagree with the sentiment though that just cause you have more viable weapons at endgame makes it less difficult. I think any Borderlands can be for casuals cause casuals would never really go to endgame like that. The percentage of people that actually did the Maliwan Takedown on Mayhem 10 or 11 is very low. When my friends played it with me they could not do it without me because they were not into build crafting like me and most that play Borderlands aren't, thats where the hardcore side kicks in. I'd personally say that's why BL3 is better than BL2 is because there is variety at endgame. Making 4 characters max level and everything just for all of them to have relatively similar gear sucks imo. I love BL2 but I can't pretend I enjoy that part which is why I give BL3 endgame in my opinion. I don't really get what you mean by the identity thing either though, you kinda contradicted yourself by saying BL2 has more identity but then explaining the identity of each vault hunter in BL3.

I think what you're trying to quantify overall that's missing from BL2 to BL3 is player agency, but not in the way you would think at first. You have so much agency in 3 as far as build, guns, skins, movement, gameplay.....but the game strips you of any agency whatsoever when it comes to story or progression. Borderlands 2 has one singular cutscene(other than the ending) that isn't a "introductory" cutscene for a boss or character. It's the one after control core angel. Your vault hunter is integral to the story and the things that are happening. In Borderlands 3, you might as well not exist when it comes to several points in the story. Oh, you entered the vault with Maya and killed the Rampager? Oh, there's a cutscene and a standoff.....and you're just not there. And there's TONS of instances of stuff like this throughout the story. You exist ONLY within the gameplay of the game, and it sucks. I played a ton of both(more of 2 though...)to me, the best thing to come out of Borderlands 3 was the cartels event. If the entirety of BL3 was as good as the raid on the cartel house, I would love it so much more. You just feel like you're fucking shit up, and that's how it should feel. The endgame with the trials and takedown events is better in BL3, but when you consider slogging through the story to get there it just feels like a chore. And they knew it. They patched the game today and now you can just "create" a max level character and you start right before the Tyrene fight. Had they done this sooner, I would have loved BL3 so much more. Also, while the DLC and updates are nice for 3, the constant gun nerfs was so tiresome. I hate farming gear and decking out a character and having to refarm. I literally stopped playing after the first DLC because of it and waited for the game to be "complete" because of it. And again, if I had only been exposed to THAT BL3 I would have loved it so much more. I prefer borderlands 2 because the journey is as fun as the destination in my mind. BL3 is all destination, the destination is great, but the journey to get there is just not good.

I think the main reason I like BL2 over BL3 is because BL3 suffers from a lot of repetition and emptiness. Many characters in BL3’s main, side, and DLC missions feel empty and/or like copies of eachother. The characters don’t feel too unique and they don’t compliment eachother and that sentiment carries through out the entire game. The poor pacing in almost every mission leaves myself and friends feeling empty because we have nothing to remember missions with besides a red-text item. The emptiness on Sanctuary 3 is part of why there is the major death in BL3, there is literally no one else to help on the ship. Sanctuary feels so empty that I find myself never wanting to spend time there but doing any missionsleaves me annoyed because the characters don’t feel new. While I do think both games could be improved, I much prefer BL2 because I can connect to the characters even though the gameplay mechanics in BL3 are wonderful.
@yourstatistacs
@yourstatistacs 5 ай бұрын
Not sure I get what you mean? You say you have trouble connecting with characters but most characters on Sanctuary 3 are characters from BL2 so I can't say I understand that. Pacing I can 100% agree with and I will say I like Sanctuary in BL2 better because it has Scooter and Zed but thats more of nostalgia than anything for me personally since they are BL1 characters. I enjoyed Ellie, Moxsy and Maurice on Sanctuary 3 personally, I thought they all have some good moments. I can't see BL3 feeling empty with characters like Traunt, private beans, the old man from the feeble and furious quest and plenty of other funny side quests. Probably one of the most heartfelt DLC is in BL3, that being DLC 4 when you go into Kriegs mind, lots of themes and messages written in there. I'd highly recommend giving the game another shot if you missed some of these things. But maybe I'm wrong and this just isn't your cup of tea and thats fine too

@@yourstatistacs A different way to phrase it would probably be that I feel a sense of community missing in Sanctuary 3. I am usually only there for my vault and when going to my vault I don’t hear Brick and Mordecai talking in the room next to me but I have an NPC screaming my ear off. And I don’t feel a sense of accomplishment portrayed in Sanctuary 3 either. In Sanctuary 2 we are floating and even though Roland isn’t there it feels alright because we still made it. In BL3 there is Lilith’s symbol on the moon which I barely see. Don’t get me wrong I love Traunt and Private Beans but I like the established communities in BL2 like The Slabs, The Raiders, The Hodunks, The Zaffords, Hyperon, and the sense of family formed in the story and side missions. In BL3 there are the COV, The Raiders, Atlas, and Maliwan (If I am forgetting any please correct me but I cannot remember any more). I love BL3’s DLCS a lot too but I try to exclude DLCS because some might not be able to afford the DLC immediately and I want people in that situation to see what they are initally paying for in the base game. I don’t find myself spending much time in Moxxi’s bar on Sanctuary 3 because I prefer to go to her DLC instead. I like the game a lot but I wish there was more of a connection between characters in the game. I think this due in part to the way they approached their story development because many issues I have with the main story bleed into the side missions. I do love BL3 but largely for the DLC’s and I love Borderlands as a whole but I feel like the way they handled the story ruins a lot of the experience. I did really enjoy your video though! I agree but I think its everywhere sadly in BL3 so the skip while appreciated isn't fixing the whole games pacing. I still super appreciate that its there and hope its a launch feature in BL4. I definitely think BL2 pushes the pace more, there's a couple of times they hold you up for some sanctuary banter about killing Jack or whatever but its not nearly as bad as BL3. I want that I said in the video and can't emphasize it enough. Do everything through the echonet. Allow me to turn in quests through the echo, allow all dialogue to happen through the echo without holding up your next quest. All this stuff could be fixed so easily by the echo instead of making the player travel back and forth all the time. Make the Sanctuary a nice optional pitstop where players can go do what they need to do and then continue pushing through as long as they want with no forced breaks. This is my dream for a Borderlands when it comes to pacing lol

Didn't expect to watch borderlands content today, but this was super interesting! You've got me wanting to re-play through borderlands 3 now. I wasn't as put off by borderlands 3's story/dialogue as most people were, but story pacing is definitely what separates the two games, especially with most of borderlands 2's major story beats being through the echo or in skippable cutscenes. That being said, the pace at which borderlands 3 handles the progression from a power level standpoint is far better imo. I went through the first like 80% of borderlands 1 & 2 three times without ever even knowing legendries were a thing because most random encounters felt so inconsequential.

I've recently been playing Borderlands 2 and 3 myself, and you nailed it on the head saying 3 had the worst of the pacing. But personally, Side quests respectfully goes to Borderlands 2. Borderlands 2 side quests I feel did a lot more to serve to the world and its characters. You can save a town from the impacts of Handsome Jack's mining through Overlook. You can help scooter fix stuff or attempt to help him in making a silly poem, you get to see the sadness that is the loneliness of claptrap from his birthday quest. That quest can make you feel SO awkward! It was immersive. In Borderlands 1, even without the voice acting, had good quest descriptions that immersed you in its world and its characters. The world felt more gritty and your actions from certain quests carried on to new sidequests. I haven't quite felt that same closeness with the world and characters as I did with 3. Loreli's coffee and burger quests for example, didn't feel quite so impactful. It felt lighthearted, goofy, and has the same pacing as the main story. It didn't help me feel immersed in quite the same way, and the non stop one liners and jokes didn't help, I think. Besides, no side quest can top Face McShooty :P When I look at the games 1-3, I see a shift from gritty and connected to comedy and flashiness, with 2 being a nice combination of the two polar sides.

I disagree on this, Melee in BL2 is especially excellent. Zer0 being able to dash around and chain multiple kills while being invisible and shooting Kunai is such a fun gameplay loop. Same goes for Krieg and Athena in The Pre Sequel. Melee in BL3 however is extremely underwhelming. I remember being excited to play Amara because she was supposed to be the siren brawler with 6 arms but when the game came out all of her action skills just sucked and didn't synergize at all with Melee. Her melee dash is also very underwhelming it has extremely poor range and can whiff constantly. Which sucks because they absolutely nailed Zer0 and Athena's melee dash abilities. Also in UVHM melee doesn't fall off at all. It actually gets better because before UVHM you didn't have access to Kunai on Zer0 making applying deathmarks before a execute possible.

@yourstatistacs
@yourstatistacs 4 ай бұрын
Personally I think thats a very odd way to measure the greatness of a game, looking at the jump from one to the next rather than what the game itself did good. Its like measuring how quick someone could travel from place to place 100 years ago vs now. The new game is ofcourse going to have technical leaps and such especially after the first one having success because now it gets real budget behind it. I'd also have to disagree though because BL2 to BL3 is a pretty massive jump which is why there are people that wish BL2 had BL3 gameplay. The modernization of gameplay in BL3 is very game changing with smoother gunplay and such. Plus the lost loot machine and co-op not needing to fight over guns and being able to hop in games, not needing to worry if your levels match. I'd say the jump from BL2 to BL3 was bigger on a technical front. Even the mail system was a really cool and fun thing to have plus crossplay is a thing. But this is why its kinda arbitrary to compare by which 2 has the greater jump because some of this technology just didn't exist back then so its just a weird comparison to me personally. If you love BL2 more thats completely valid but I just think thats an odd way to say why one is better. Appreciate you being here and even more for reading my novel

You can’t really debate the Bl2 Vs bl3 with most ppl because they are held hostage by nostalgia. It’s something that holds back a lot of popular gaming franchises. Both games have things that are better than the other. Gameplay and endgame in bl3 is better. Story, pacing and characters are all more interesting in Bl2. Bl3 drops legendaries too often. Bl2 could be a bit more lenient in its drop rates. Etc…. If Bl2 and bl3 had a baby, it would be the greatest baby of all time

It seems BL3 made the Legendaries cool perk just end up being that it was like 3-7 times Overleveled. They were better than a regular purple so you'd use it, even if you didn't like it. Thats usually my gripe. In BL3 Vladov's had usually too small magazines with crazy load times. Dahl was stronger, reloaded faster and wasn't too much less in the fire rate department. Many of the high FR Vladovs had to spin up.

Personally I get the "too easy complaint" but at the same time its what I love about Borderlands, if you are genuinely good at build crafting they dont limit you like other games. If you can make a build that melts a raid boss in 4 seconds or less then thats your reward for working towards getting all the gear and coming up with that build. I personally prefer feeling like a total badass as my reward for farming gear and everything rather than ok now you might be able to take on this raid boss with 3 other people in your game. I like what they did with a lot of bosses too were you can turn on the 4 player difficulty while solo. @yourstatistacs I haven't successfully beaten the big boss of it yet but I'll agree. 2 hand a number of raid bosses that had gimmicks more than the bl3 tendency of hp sponge and multiple invulnerable phases. As well as digistruct peak changing up every few op levels . Drop rates in 2 even with 2-4 players farming dedicated sources leaned extremely heavily against finding what you wanted in the right element AND op level.. hell I spent ages on scorch knuckledragger and bunker alone hundreds of kills each and majority of the first 2 were under the level sought after. The latter I seen 1 of its smgs 1 head no shams at all and I focused on it for hundreds of kills split screen with an alt. And it was fairly consistent for me spending literal days after 1 drop not even for good rolls just at level/right element. Not to mention the random spawns having dedicated drops being an entire new level added to get those items 3 almost all if not all dedicated drops I've gone after have been 100% appearance rate. I went into a weekend playing 16-20 hours with a 20 weapon/grenade mod list had a baseline level 72 of 16 of them. 3 of the 4 I didn't grab were arms race drops. Several of what I got were cartel event. Granted they were lowroll drops mostly but something to show for the time. Hell even if I got zil drops I got guardian ranks. The "feat" based bad ass rank system is tedious as hell past a point to even get it higher without glitching it or creating new characters regularly. The guardian rank set up is a step in the right direction imo the bonuses drop a ways too quick.. I'm in the 200s? And got 10-11% on 2/3rds the stuff

Borderlands 1 HAS THE BEST tone and story absolutely love og beat and switch ending is great!! PS General Knoxx is a better then villain then Jack PSs bl3 dose have better gameplay but way to mush power-creep gear. there no reason to use the hellshock because the beacon is stronger but there no reason to use because the free radical stronger. bl2 and bl3 say they have 100.000 guns but in reality 98% of play will only use 25 guns over and over if not a uniquids or legendries no one use's them!!! god miss the double Anarchy SMG!!!

The Villain, Hyperion's CEO, Handsome Jack in Borderlands 2 is far, FAR-MORE Superior, compared to the Calypso Twins. Handsome Jack is this arrogantly evil and rich corporate CEO, that claims that he's saving the planet of Pandora from Bandits like you. He constantly insults you and looks down his nose at you, while sending his employees and bots to you to kill you, while in BL3, you get the annoying Calypso Twins that annoyingly reminds you that the Vaults across the Galaxies are "their birth-right" since they're the offsprings of the first Vault Hunter and they act like annoying Social Media Influencer, like Logan Paul or somebody like a Logan Paul.

Idk why I never thought there'd be a mod for this

lmao glad I could help make the game more bearable. The mod isn't perfect, there are a couple moments that you get stuck and things won't progress, just quit to menu and then hit play as if you're farming and things will progress again. There is also a extended dialogue skip for DLC and things if you enjoy using this mod. I'm glad I could help find a way for you to enjoy BL3 for what it really is all about lol I think the gameplay and endgame are great so hopefully you find the same enjoyment as I do! I played bl2 when it released and ever since then, it has always been a game I’ve loved. I was very excited for bl3, played it a lot when it released. I got two characters to level 50 and got all the achievements, but i was disappointed. First of all, i played on ps and the frames was bad for the entire time, which really hurt the experience for me. I didn’t like the guns at how different they were from bl2 and i wasn’t a fan of the graphics and effects. Perhaps it’s my autism kicking in for how used i am to bl2. I did like things they did with bl3, but in general, it just didn’t feel right to me. Bl3 had great quality of life that i wish bl2 had though
@yourstatistacs
@yourstatistacs 3 ай бұрын
No its not autism, the particle effects are genuinely too much in BL3. That is a very common complaint with BL3 that there is too much visual pollution, I thought they did a decent job at cleaning it up in wonderlands. I can understand the guns thing cause honestly that was me from BL1 to BL2 for a long while lol but now I love them all. The launch problems sucked but if you gave the game a shot now its in a tenfold better state (at least on PC). I do hope with BL4 they get things right on launch

@@yourstatistacs the QOL mechanics, the outdated graphics, the guns that feel like toy guns that a kid is playing with going “bang bang” (I’m talking about how they feel when fired, not the design), the zero character play style diversity, UVHM(!!!) - that one’s a big “fk you Gearbox” sort of thing.

@Blacksmith574
@Blacksmith574 5 ай бұрын
@@yourstatistacs when going through the OP levels people usually stick to only one meta build per character as that is sorta mandatory if you want to reach OP10. Having only 1 OP10 capable build per character is depressing. It’s not like other non-meta builds can perform on a slightly lower level than THE meta build, they are just flat out useless. BL3 on the other hand lets you do whatever you want and still succeed to some degree and have fun playing the way you enjoy the most. Let’s look at Amara as an example, her strongest build is obviously melee, but you don’t have to use it, you can play Gunmara and still have fun and clear all the content, even if it isn’t the strongest Amara build. Same can be said about the other 3 vault hunters as well.

Couldn't agree more. I personally do think a lot of the lore is better in BL3 though outside of the story. I don't know how much you're into that stuff but I liked the Typhon logs and really loved the eridian writings. Personally I felt like if those had more of a focus in the story it would have been a lot better especially considering the unique situation with Troy and Tyreen as sirens but they tried too hard with their personalities cause they were under the pressure of matching Handsome Jack. They should have just focused on making a new villain but I think they focused on 'how do we make someone as good as jack' and it came out more obnoxious than funny. The lore they wrote could have lead to more interesting villains, maybe not as good humor as Jack but certainly could have been more threatening than Jack if they portrayed it all the way the lore does.

Its funny to me because lore wise I think they had potential to be the most interesting if you listen to the eridian writings and stuff but Gearbox focused way too much on trying to match Handosme Jack level villain. They should've just forgot about that and tried to make new unique villains but they let it get in their head that they need to try and match Handsome Jack and it made Troy & Tyrene come out obnoxious. People say they'll never match Jack and thats probably true but you can still make great villains by going other routes. I think Troy & Tyrene would've been perfect if they took away the comedy act and just focused on making them threatening. They are unique as sirens and probably the most threatening villains in Borderlands thus far but they stripped that feeling because they wanted to match Jack laugh for laugh. I think Jack was just a lightning in a bottle moment and they need to find new ways to make great villains.

@yourstatistacs
@yourstatistacs 2 ай бұрын
I assure you the best guns are not in the early game of BL3. You really should give it more of a chance cause if you take 99% of the legendaries you'd get in early game they aren't good in endgame. This was the surface level judgement most people made about BL3 granted it earned it because it made very trash guns legendary so peoples brains would go "yay legendary" but all it did was make it feel less special because now you have to check if the legendary is even a good one. So its a game with its own flaws for sure but saying you get the best loot in early game is just not true. You dont get the plasma coil or revolter by just killing random bandits, you'll probably get a woodblocker or gunarang which are attrocious in any form of endgame. I think theres a balance for Gearbox to strike between BL2 and BL3. You telling me you're lvl 60 and don't have a single legendary is just uninspiring and depressing to me. I like a rare sprinkled in legendary that might world drop or boss drop in a playthrough to remind me what I'm there for. It also creates these special moments in a playthrough of "I remember I discovered X gun with X character when it randomly dropped for me fighting this guy".
