On my 2nd 87. Deffo an eyecatcher! Mine isn't in good shape, but people point and ask about it. Engine (also 3sge) is tired. Needs 5500+ to wake up, yet feels chanceless vs my 92 Accord (+120kg, -10hp). Will also get rid of mine because FWD I4.

Using an gas additive did wonderful things to my 3sge. Get a big brand name and apply 3 full tanks straight.

Sad to see it go. I have an '89 Celica GTS too just in white with the blue interior. Love it! i bought it for 500 buck since its been sitting the last 10 yrs. All original with nothing done to it. Currently in the process of restoring it. Im researching to learn more about em but its hard find info online

The blue interior is really cool! I recommend buying the service manual online. It has everything you need to know.

If you're in north America and you're looking for a GTS get this over the 91. The most important thing is the engine. All trims come with the 3sfe, the 3SGE is what you truly want/need.

I definitely need one like this cause it looks cool and is water proof 😂🔥 I have a st162 gti pre-liftback convertible with (closed, targa and full cabrio) but because of the hardtop part the water leaks in from every side 😂 but its still lovely to have a t16

Need to shift at 4000 RPM, get in the powerband, 4th Gen Celica is awesome, one of best cars ever made

@@uhblonded The 89 GTS has that cast iron exhaust manifold sitting right on top of the starter. It heat soaks the starter, and you eventually get a "hot start" problem. Replacing it - you will run into that condition again once those solenoid contacts age from being baked just enough. One thing to do is replace the starter relay with a larger amp one so you can push more current into those contacts (also use heavier gauge wire - for the added load). I also replaced my exhaust manifold with custom powder coated 4-2-1 headers. There isn't as much heat build up. They aren't a cheap option I know - but I like my GTS. Other people have flipped the starter 180 degrees like the 3SFE motor in the GT and ST to get out from under the exhaust manifold. Not an easy fab either.
