At the moment Portugal is creating the Worlds Largest CIRCULAR Trail...and from your previous sunset hiking video, I think your trail is going to be connected to the circular trail...(Obidos, Caldas, Salir do Porto, etc has already been completed). One of the best things about Portugal is all the incredible nature walks and trails...and soon you'll be able to walk from Porto to the Algarve and all the way around :). Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day

I spent 9 lovely day in Viana do Castelo during their big festival and visited Ponte de Lima. That was a scouting mission for me because I want to move there. I loved that region because of the green, only a little rain on the day we left. I found Ponte de Lima really humid on the one day we visited. Love your channel, Luise ❤

Vila verde is lush from the little I saw. I can see why you love the area. The amount of avocados on that tree 🤯. Love the last clip of Nelson just “chilling”

Hello. I have watched a couple of your videos while we were still in the US and now we live in Braga city. We are, however, looking to rent a place outside of the city. Anyway my husband is English and we are here if you ever wish to meet for a coffee. Vila Verde is one of the places we will look at. How wonderful for your life change and truly you seem happy. We too have two dogs.

Good luck with your search. I'm moving down to the Silver coast in a few weeks so won't be close enough for a coffee 😊

Luise, thanks for concentrating in Minho, my ancestral place & home of both my parents! I absolutely LOVE it, especially the area you are in, so close to Ponte da Barca where my daddy was born. If you happen to be in Aboim de Nóbrega, just a little Hamlet off the main road in Vila Verde heading to or from Barca and on a fest day, you will notice the high amount of redheads in the area! The Germanic and Celtic tribes used to hide out on the hills of Minho away from the Romans down below, and some redheads decided Aboim and Vila Verde were absolutely stunning. Although Winter can be very cold, rainy and muggy, it's a short Winter in Portugal. Ponte de Lima is stunning and the oldest village of Portugal. Keep on exploring Minho❤😊

I loved this insight into northern Portugal! Like you, I love greenery, lakes and rivers, hills and forests. 38C is too hot for me, and surprising for an area that far north. I hope there are choices of well insulated buildings/homes with air conditioning for summer and heating for winter - otherwise I wouldn't survive. Thank you, Louise, for this chat and the visuals, including your beloved dogs.

I'd always preferred the cooler climes of the Minho (Seixas) but price led me to the Dão. Now I have to factor in air conditioning. Lovely vid❤.

I’m pretty much decided on the north just from following homesteaders and pet sitters across Portugal for the past 2 years. Same reasons Luise: I need trees and I need green. I used to be able to tolerate 40+ degrees (lived in Dubai) but I really can’t anymore. I’ve been tracking weather since last October too 😂 Braga, Coimbra & Castelo Branco, and they all get rain in winter and the winter temperature difference is a couple of degrees, not massive. Hoping for a few petsits via TH to help me confirm my feelings but I’m pretty much decided 😎

you can freeze avocados...I buy them frozen to put on sandwiches or salads, they are pre-cut into bite sized chunks and frozen...I don't thaw them completely when I use them, but you probably could if you were going to mash them anyway...that one tree would probably feed a family for a year, lol

Hello my dear Louise , I have known each other for quite a while by now . I know you love Northern Portugal , the Peace and the Nature but you are not getting bored out there ? Do you have any friends to keep you company besides the dogs sitting. It is easy to make friends out there ? I would be bored after such a long time living there .

Ponte de Lima is the most expensive area in the north ( besides Porto). It is also the area with more GMO's and therefore, more herbicides. Nice twon to visit but not to live. The reason for not allowing any signs is that it is the oldest town in Portugal ( as a portuguese town) so it is for historical reason and not for any other reason
@rasputindasilva8585 күн бұрын
Wrong, the area with more GMO's is sudoeste due to intensive production of red fruits and the most concentration of greenhouses per square meter. I've born in Ponte de Lima, live in Ponte de Lima and still drink water from the well. Don't talk about what you don't know, anyway, we don't need foreigners here, the cost of life is high enough.
@Solo50plus5 күн бұрын
Exactly Atimati… they appreciate and protect its historical value. That’s a good enough reason!

@@rasputindasilva858red fruits are not gmo. In Portugal, its mainly the north wit gmo corn, special around Ponte de Lima and Vila do Conde. The southwest hás the problem with plastics and pesticides but not so much. gmo. I live in Vila Verde and Im a farmer, maybe you are right, I know nothing about this 😂
