Aloha Sharla, I'm so happy that you are posting more. I have missed you terribly! I hope life is getting better for you. I was hoping to see outside in your town soon? What else are you looking forward to this Spring? I'm wondering if you and Norm will vlog together soon? I like the humor that you both share. I've been a bit melancholy so far this year. It came in with a few disappointments. One, I had to move. There are few rentals here after the volcano took out so many last year. We ended up in a not so great looking and small place. It is cooler up Mauna Kea. I have been watching ideas on how to make small places work. Any ideas? Where do you put your stuff? Are there any apartment living ideas or small home living ideas that might work for me from Japan? I also use a wheelchair most of the time. What is accessibility like in Japan? How do people with challenges get along in Japan? Is the bus accessible? Are the Olympics changing your life much there? I was wondering if the Volcanoes affect your health sometimes? We have had bad vog days before. I miss your kitties too. Hope things keep looking up! Love to you. Take care, Kai

I wish I'd seen you were doing a Q&A so I could've asked you something, lol. Okay, for you or anyone past their first year of living in Japan (you live tax free the first year, I've heard): I've read that if you live abroad, you have to pay taxes back to your home country along with those of the country you're in. Which country do you find you've had to pay higher taxes to? Of course, this will vary from country to country, but what has been your experience?

I can relate to your problem with the JLPT so much! In Belgium, the students from the (really tiny) german-speaking region get the chance to take the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en langue francaise - so basically the same thing for French) for free - a huge opportunity considering the usual price and the fact, that like 50% of Belgium is Wallonia where people speak French, so it really helps getting a job in Belgium. I was super certain to pass without a problem since I'm pretty good at French, but then we did a former DELF during class to see how it works and the listening comprehension killed me. I understood everything, but remembering answers for the 40 questions from a 5 minute text without writing anything down is just super hard and many of the questions asked about details. So yeah, the hardest part of it is to remember all the given information rather than understanding it (for me at least).

I'll be going to Japan in March of 2020 for work. Though I am happy about it, sometimes I forgot because it's still 11 months away, but and this video has reinvigorated my excitement! Thank you!

Hey Sharla 😊, I absolutely love your KZbin Channel! I’m actually intending to move to 🇯🇵 in late 2020. As a matter of fact, I got to know you while I was searching for information due to my trip to Japan in October 2018 which was through Abroad in Japan. You have such a positive vibes and energy that is admiring from my point of view. Listen to your heart and keep doing what makes you happy 🤗.

The few times I've visited Japan I've visited in September/October and can't agree with you more! The weather is much more comfortable (especially if you're coming from somewhere that's never *super* hot and humid such as the UK), the colours are beautiful AND all the Halloween stuff is super fun!

You can get Japanese green tea at Costco in Canada (big box of 100 tea bags) They are made by Ito En and sold under Costco's Kirkland house brand.
