One of your rear lights is pointing at the sky and one is blocked by the rear tire. I hope that when you packed it properly, you had a rear light that pointed somewhere useful.

Did I miss something or are you not carrying ANY sleeping gear? No bag? No air mattress? If not how or where did you sleep each night ? Also....you seem to be carrying a lot of electronic charging gear...both cords and plugs.....not possible to consolidate it all a bit better? EDIT : ahhhh I see from comments below you planned to stay in hotels. How did that work out ? Do you regret not taking sleeping gear?
@Josh-Reid2 жыл бұрын
My sleeping gear included a insulated jacket and an eye mask. I slept in three hotels over the race. The rest of the time I slept in bus shelters and one cold few hours in a field but it was generally warm enough to not need a sleeping bag. I slept at one of the checkpoints one night and then at one point when it got really hot during the day I slept for two hours in the middle of the day.

Question: what’s the advantage of having 0 cal electrolytes? From an outsiders point of view, I would’ve thought that you would want as many calories as possible.
@Josh-Reid2 жыл бұрын
They tend to make the bottle less of a sticky mess and they were the tablets I had laying around.
@Fred_the_19962 жыл бұрын
If it has calories it turns into a sticky substance like caramel and it gets everywhere. Electrolyte tablets don't do that, but isotonic drinks with sugar, calories, flavouring, etc.. do
@casualuserish2 жыл бұрын
In case he wants to have a non sticky electrolyte bottle Maybe he wants the salt, and then energy via another route (real food). Gels and carb drinks are not going to fuel you for the full day, day after day.

Good luck to you! p.s.: The TOPEAK mini multi tool PT20 is the most impractical tool I own. The hex keys on it I can't use properly on screws that are hard to get at, the whole tool itself feels wobbly and of poor quality although it costs 25 - 35€. Also if you have large hands, as I have, this small sized and relatively heavy tool might not be practical.
@suminshizzles69516 ай бұрын
Most of their tools are rather poor quality. I had their survival kit in the little greyish square box. I live near the ocean and the poor quality of the metal made the tools useless after a year. Park tools or pay twice.

Hey Josh, great video, love your work. I’m looking at getting an Arkel Seatpacker, they have two sizes a 9L or 15L, which one did you use? Cheers

All the different chargers would drive me nuts, would you not forgo the di2 in place of mechanical save on weight in both groupset and charger. Enjoy the adventure 💪💪
@Josh-Reid2 жыл бұрын
I find that di2 is good for my hands with such a long distance not having to strain to put the bike into the big ring
@huntos83 Жыл бұрын
Di2 groupsets are actually generally lighter than the mechanical versions, but agree the chargers are a pain. Also I really can’t get on with the ergonomics of the hydraulic mechanical shifters - Di2 or mechanical rim brake shifters are much more comfortable

Congrats on finishing the ride mate. How tall are you? I’m 164cm and looking for a solution to tyre rub on saddle bag without switching to panniers. Your frame looks about the same size as mine.
@Josh-Reid2 жыл бұрын
I’m about 168cm so use a small frame. I also get this issue occasionally when I use a bigger rear bike packing bag. The smaller Arkel bag that I’m currently using is the 9l version and I’ve had no issues with tyre rub. If you try a smaller seat bag and possibly find bags that go on other areas of the bike to make up for lost space.

How do you get on with sunglasses when you wear prescription glasses? I am having a nightmare finding anything reasonable.

Yeah I’ve looked into prescription sunglasses in the past but nothing seems to work well with my prescription. I tend to just wear non prescription sunglasses whilst riding.

I dont think there is a single country in the world that says no bell is required on a bike. Maybe in india or some really poor places in afrika where nobody cares about laws can you get away with no bell. But in the western world bells are required and are not some fashion statement. They do serve a function. I see a lot of people on really expensive bikes and they cant afford a flipping bell. Really sad. 6000 pounds worth of carbon and no bell even though its the law here in the UK.

Hi Josh, I would like to present to you the problem faced by the owners of Giant Revolt from 2022 in the carbon version. It seems that this year's model has a factory defect in the form of a cracking frame e where the seatpost is attached to the frame. Giant used the D-Fuse seatpost on the 2022, which is flat at the rear and the opening in the frame is oval. Behind the seat post there is a special metal insert that causes cracks. The situation is bizarre because some users are already waiting for the 3rd frame and the previous two broke in the same place even after 17km. Users of this bike are not satisfied with the answers received from your customer service, which suggests checking the tightening force of the D-FUSE insert, because using even a lower torque - 6Nm, it does not prevent frame breakage. The scale of the problem is huge - on Facebook, in the group of Revolt owners, there are already over 300+ cases of the same crack. We ask GIANT to take an official position on this matter. Please swap out for a standard 30.9 post to avoid any cracks
