WHAT I PACKED for my first Bikepacking Bike Tour | Tips For Beginners

This is our bikepacking setup for bicycle touring in Vietnam.
We are doing a combination of road bike bikepacking with a traditional bike touring setup with a hybrid bike.

For towels you can get fast drying microfiber towels from Decathlon. They are very light and can pack tightly. I always have them on vacation :)

Skincare is a must. If on the roads all day Thuong will need clenser and sun protection at least. Was putting all the treats on Cruise's bike a ploy so he could secretly snack on the gummies as Thuong rode ahead with the lighter bike.

Wow! Very cool setup for your first bike packing adventure. Should be a fun filled experience. I like to always take some antacids in case I eat something sketchy that doesn’t agree with me and some anti inflammatory meds just in case but maybe you have such items in your first aid kit. If anyone touches your bikes your wife will easily take care of anyone tampering with them judging from the punching bag skills she displayed 😊 Sunscreen items are a personal preference as you are aware. Better to have them and not need them than the other way around. I’d take them and would wear sun visors/hats too. Sunny hot days can sap your energy big time as you surely know. Stay safe and enjoy!

For aero I do not use panniers. I use a 40 liter backpack on the rear rack. That is as much as your pannier and dry bag.

Yeah, putting a larger backpack on top of the rear rack seems like a good approach to be more aero.

i usually rock a full bikepackig setup except a rear rack and on it a decathlon 20L waterproof backpack. which still keeps the setup aero enough than side panniers.

Morning Cruz, that Mobot Bike light you got is actually the same Bike light I got but instead it's called Night Provision and it has a red and white mode. I got ton of those on my Bicycle to be seen during the day and at Night when going to and from Work

Wow. I'm glad we got that cleared up. Sleeping DRESS, NOT PANTS. You guys are really biking in luxury. I guess you can't be too over prepared. Korea was great for bike-packing. Hope you both get a chance to check it out! Sunscreen is important, ditch the other stuff. A lot of studies show the creams and products other than sunscreen are virtually useless. Save the time and weight, especially when bike-packing. You'll thank yourself later.

I would have gone flat pedals. The clipless system has shown not to improve climbing as there is no up-pull forces being applied. Have a great trip!

Looking forward to the trip. Too much stuff? Well you found room for it all but the weight will be the problem. Skin care is important but Thoung will survive for the trip duration. Weight is your enemy.

Maybe I missed an episode: why do you use the city bike instead of the road bike? Can I also recommend a chain tool and some replacement chain links? I don't see chain oil, if you don't oil it it will wear out more quickly and you will struggle more. Thuong, you don't need a beauty case, you are naturally beautiful! ^_^

We talked about it in one of our previous videos. It's mainly to be able to carry panniers and our computer. We did bring some lube and a chain link, but forgot a chain tool. Thankfully didn't need it though.
