Nice points on driving in heavy, crazy traffic. I thought I was the only one who "belly-ached" about the bizarre maneuvers some motorists make 🙂 I really appreciate the realism of your videos like this one, as many of us do everyday kinds of things on our bikes and deal with similar situations. Appreciate seeing and hearing about how you guys handle getting from point A to point B in a city. Someone I know told me that in crowded, over populated spaces, people tend not to care very much about others. Because of the shear number of people there, you'd be spending all of your time being considerate of others. So, the alternative is not to care at all in many cases.
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't think that's necessarily true about over populated spaces. Tokyo is one of the most densely populated cities and the drivers are very respectful to pedestrians and cyclists since there is a strong societal obligation to do so.
@jolly7728 Жыл бұрын
@@TwoWheelCruise I believe Tokyo is a pretty exceptional place. Interesting that your experience there has been different from what I claimed in my comment, apparently. But it is a scientific fact that the higher the population density, the higher the crime rate (Google). This indirectly supports what I shared about caring for others in my post. Tokyo is at variance relative to the norm because of it's "strong societal obligation to do so," that is, to be respectful of others even if its population density is high. Having a cultural framework of respect is likely what makes Tokyo special in this regard. This is a fascinating subject with no simple explanations.

minute 5:44 is common scenario people get hit by the car. not by the first car black sedan, but by another car or motorcycle passing from the left side. many time the other car or bike not seen people on the front of the first car. when people pass from it, the other car who speeding not have enough time to brake. this why you not pass street like that woman and kids. da nang street is wide and empty it more dangerous than in the big city with traffic jam in vietnam.

In Hanoi an epic head on MC crash happened 20 feet in front of me. It was a crowded narrow street. A bus was coming both ways, so I got the hell over and stopped. The 2 MCs were following each bus and of course they both went to pass. BOOM. One driver was pinned between and under the bikes. He just suffered a sprained ankle and some bruising. Only took 2 secs for help. Another trip in 2007, I was on the sidewalk at a bike store. A guy's MC rear-ended 2 girl's MC. They tipped towards me and she gashed a finger. Right away she got on his bike to go to a hospital. I gave her a kleenex to help stop the bleeding. I would have fainted likely. LOL. I saw or heard 2 dozen accidents that second trip. I tipped over 4 times myself. One morning I went out to start the day and there was a full size dump truck on it's side in the ditch. LOL.

That's an interesting point about the wider less populated roads being more dangerous. In this shot, the black car on the right was trying to pass around the other car in the left lane by accelerating into the right lane (inside), which is extremely dangerous. Another extremely dangerous situation is when big buses get impatient and cross over the middle lane into the oncoming traffic lane to try and pass. They just honk their horns and expect all other traffic to stop or move out of the way.

At casual speeds, the sidewalks in Taipei are great. Some Taipei roads can be intimidating with the lack of space and high speeds of the bikes. They're much faster there than most in Vietnam. @@TwoWheelCruise Yeah, my husband was working on a cruise ship (that's how we met, I was a guest on the ship) and then when he got a break from the ship, we went to his country together and then while he was there, he applied for the tourist visa so that he could travel a bit before returning to work on the ship and then we decided to get married before he went back to work on the ship. Another option we thought about at the time was a student visa for him. County colleges usually have low points of entry financially. Didn't even think about visa fraud at the time! People fall in love while on vacation :) I do remember when we went for his immigration test that first they thought that I was the foreigner (since he's white and I'm Asian) and then he messed up my birth date but I saved it because I told him he said his mom's birthdate. Contrary to what some are saying, it doesn't look too dangerous. It's nice to be sharing a road with other 2-wheelers. In the US, all those mopeds will be a bunch of SUVs going twice as fast.

Yeah, it's not so bad. I wouldn't mind if many of those bikes went electric though since they really stink.

John 3:16 " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Grace is that which is not deserved and yet given anyway. Mercy is when God gets in front of what you do deserve. God is fiercely protective for that which he finds to be his own and will requite them that are faithful unto he, yea, those who have not begun negativity, pessimism, and resentful natures and spew not a copiousness of uncaring selfishness, the workers of iniquity who see it right to do wrong in the sight of the Lord and change not their ways, who say none shall see my wrong and Love is of no importance. Pray for wisdom and treasure God with all your heart, read the KJV, and study diligently that none of you be deceived. Read even this. Isaiah 28:9-10 Matthew 4:4 Proverbs 4:7 Psalms 1 Hebrews 11:1 & 6

Funny you've become semi-numb to the local _crazies_ on their scooters. Haha, also don't insult us fellow cyclists by calling scooters "bikes" 🤔🙃
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
They're not all scooters, so maybe motorbikes would be best.

@@TwoWheelCruise it's okay, but it does get confusing sometimes

As scary as it looks, if you drive or ride defensively and pay attention you should be fine. the speed of motor bikes are much slower compare to to US motorcycle speed.

Yeah, it's really not that bad

Man and I thought the US was bad, this is just another level of bad interactions with cyclists.
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
I actually think this is better than the US since the drivers aren't actively aggressive towards bicycles.

I hate hate the name change, Big C had a silliness ring to it. And it's silly how Snickers is really the only good chocolate bar in Vietnam. I was hoping for a better show of the aisles and people in the store. That traffic still isn't much. Let's see a race between those 2 bike drives. LOL.

We love our Snickers after a hard ride. We might film another grocery run video at our other stores we visit with more shots.
