I agree with remembering to look up. I was terrible for it, so I had a sticker made up for my handlebars that said "Look up". Weirdly it helped me to look up and ahead.

It’s hard to say that there’s “one thing” that really improved my smoothness (and speed) when it comes to riding, but if it had to be just one thing, I’d say it’s scanning and planning the trail ahead. ✌️

I remember hiking the trails I now ride. Completely new perspective 😆

Totally! Fun fact: whenever I hike, I imagine myself riding it, picking line choices and all 😜

Regarding road riding, or any riding really, it is possible to decide to all ride together and have fun, even if you are the stronger rider. If you insist on riding at your level regardless of your fellow riders, then you need to reassess your priorities.

That’s a really good point! That being said, I still think that MTB is better than road riding when it comes to having a good time amongst a group of varied skilled riders - just my own opinion 😉

I love your videos!!! This doesn't really relate to the video but I had a question. I've been riding a Specialized Stump jumper for around 4 years and was thinking about getting an Epic Evo. I know they have less travel but even though I love bikes!! I don't know much about them and was wondering if you thought this was a good decision? I would love to hear your opinion and I love your videos !!!!! ❤

Thanks! I’m afraid you’re asking the wrong person when it comes to picking bikes; I don’t have a ton of experience with different bikes. I’ve only ridden two mountain bikes (both hardtails), and the first one was more like an entry-level trail bike. What I do when I have technical bike questions is I ask my local bike shop and trusted mechanic (shoutout to Geoff and Andrew at Essential Cycles) to find out what solutions could work for me. Best of luck!

Your point at 3:25 can't be overstated. I played competitive volleyball for over 20 years. If one person playing wasn't very close to the same skill level, it wasn't fun. Not very inclusive.

Totally. That’s why mountain biking felt like such a game-changer in that way, where I can ride with others way better or newer than me, and we’d all generally have a pretty amazing time 🥰
