Imamu’s steak sauce was so inspiring in this video the first time I saw it, I changed up my own recipe for salisbury steak back home😂 My mom loves it and it’s only half an hour to make when we’re hungry and tired. It’s hearty and earthy and meaty and delicious! although mine has more a Latin twist. I use sliced portobello mushrooms, some diced baby carrots, and half a medium onion cut julienne style. I seee the onion first in a pan with very little oil (seriously you don’t need more than a quarter’s size dollop, the beef is always fatty enough later) with minced garlic and a half teaspoon of beef stock powder. (my house uses powder because it’s easier to control and more concentrated than broth) Once you toss everything evenly over medium high heat, plop in 2-4 beef patties, either pre-seasoned or seasoned with sazón completo and beef stock. (you can also add adobo, but taste things often the first few times until you get a feel for the salt balance of your dish) at this point throw in the mushrooms and carrots, and a splash of red wine! Pour in maybe 1/4 cup of warm water and let it all simmer covered on medium heat. don’t disturb the patties once you put them down for at least 10 minutes, then you can flip them and check if they’re browned. If they’re not, put it back on the same side and let the sauce reduce, spoon-basting the veggies and sauce overtop until the bottom sizzles and browns. Then you can flip and repeat, adding a bit of water if you need to so the center is cooked through. I serve it with mashed potatoes and broccoli or medley veggies :) If you like it thick you can stir in cornstarch (no more than 1.5 tablespoons) dissolved in cold water once you remove the patties. usually I know by now how much water I need that I know will evaporate out and leave behind the right thickness of sauce
