Aw, Emily! I'm so grateful that you are caring for your self. I completely understand that it challenging to translate a passionate hobby into a business, and please keep protecting your joy and inspiration. Less frequent posting is absolutely fine with me and I'm here no matter how often you show up

Ahh, so nice to have you back! All of your reasoning was super valid, and I've definitely felt the same when it comes to posting knits on Instagram. Happy to have you whenever you feel up for it! I'm also planning a Lumme sweater for this winter, and it'll be my first colourwork project. I definitely went the more traditional route (red MC and white CC), but I'm absolutely obsessed with the palette you chose. Might have to start planning for a second one...

Good for you for taking a break and focusing on yourself! And thank you for sharing your GORGEOUS Amy sweater. I have a sweater quantity of yarn on hand and was debating between several different turtleneck patterns until I saw your beautiful FO on Instagram and it completely sold me! Can't wait to cast it on and I hope it turns out half as nice as yours!

Yesterday I realized that I hadn’t seen you in a while, and what a delight to find an update this morning! It makes total sense to pause and reset when what you’re doing isn’t bringing the joy. I love your finished sweaters - that plum color looks sooo good on you - and look forward to seeing progress on your current projects. I just finished the Westknits MKAL and am knitting up a scarflet with some of my leftovers. I then have some gift knits that need my attention. 😊 ~ Brenda

Emily, I love your projects. The Eun is stunning and cozy. I'm very attached to that knit. You are tiny and tall but small otherwise. It seems odd that you wear a large. Interesting. I knew you said your gage was off; it looks so cute. The Amy sweater is also attractive. I've missed your podcasts, but seeing you again is excellent. Your projects are always very nice.

Thank you, Trudy! Sometimes it can be tricky to discuss sizing since designers and commercial brands can have some variability in grading. I think that’s why I found measuring my favourite sweaters worked well for me!

Hi Emily, nice to see you. I am knitting a basic cardigan to fit into my wardrobe. The color happens to be the same blue as your slip over. Mine will be paired with a skirt made from IKEA fabric. Enjoy.

hi Emily, when I want to knit a relaxed top-down raglan sweater without a pattern, I always do it as it's done in the Amy Sweater. I make a gauge swatch from which I calculate the sts number needed for the neck circumference. For me this is usually ca. 45-50 cm. I divide this number by 8: 1/8th is for each sleeve, 3/8th are for front and 3/8th for the back. I factor in the stitches for the raglan lines, so that my overall stitchcount still gives me my desired neck circumference. I cast on as follows: 1 stitch for right front, stitch(es) for the raglan line, stitches for right sleeve, stitch(es) for the raglan line, stitches for the back, stitch(es) for the raglan line, stitches for left sleeve, stitch(es) for the raglan line, 1 stitch for the left front. The first (wrong side) row is a purl row, where I place all my markers. After that, I increase in every right side row along the raglan lines plus 1 stitch on each side of the front. When I reach the desired yoke depth, I separate sleeves and body, adding as many sts I want at the bottom of the armhole. That's all there is to it :) I knitted dozens of relaxed fitting sweaters like this, it worked every time. (It is NOT suitable for more fitted garments, though. Those need a lot more calculating.) Maybe you didn't want to know this? ... I admit, I got carried away with the subject :)

I love this! Thank you for sharing the details of what you do. For me, the barrier to freestyle knitting is usually this front-loaded calculating, so this is definitely helpful 😁

Happy to see you back! I'm kind of obsessed with the kfo poppy blue colourway, so it'll be really fun seeing your slipover worked up. Oh and also, your Amy Sweater is absolutely gorgeous! I wasn't a fan of that pattern myself, but the version you did in that Knit Picks yarn is starting to sway me
@highfiberknitsСағат бұрын
Thank you! It’s funny how seeing patterns more often can make them grow on us, especially when there is a version in a yarn that just clicks for you!

Hello Emily I did the Eun sweater and I had problems with the hem ( rib ) . Did you keep the same size of needles ? Thank you
@highfiberknitsСағат бұрын
I kept the same needle size! The yarn choice may impact how tidy the ribbing ends up looking, but blocking really helped mine!

The only WHY for communication is: 1. You have things you want to say 2. You have people who want to hear it I think those criteria are definitely filled in your case.
