if you liked yellowface, i'd highly recommend disorientation by elaine hsieh chou! once i finished part 1, i TORE through the rest of the book. i also adored "american fever" by dur e aziz amna, which you might like if you enjoyed rf kuang's wit & reflectiveness!

Indie bookseller here if you liked Yellowface (which I did too) I would recommend first lie wins (it’s a true crime thriller that definitely embodies the concept of “I support women’s wrongs”) I listened to the audiobook and it’s definitely one of those books where you just want to find out what’s really happening so it grabs you quickly.

Whenever I am in a rut I like to reread one of my favorites! i just reread Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney and it healed me. I am currently reading My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante for the book club I run (I'm a librarian) and it is most definitely worth the hype!

i would recommend writers and lovers by lily king, as well as our wives under the sea by julia armfield. they both bang. Also penance by eliza clark!!

A non-fic rec for you (so maybe not as bingeable) but a book that recently blew my mind as I was reading it is Eve by Cat Bohannon

If you liked Yellowface, I feel like a more nuanced and slightly less rage inducing version is Disorientation by Eliane Chou. I thought it was a different POV for the issues Yellowface brings up. As an asian woman who works in publishing Yellowface made me GROANN every page (but I finished in a week despite the PTSD haha).

thisss i also love how disorientation gives diff perspectives within the asian community

I think I have the driest skin in the world and Krave Beauty’s Great Barrier Relief has changed the game for me. Nothing has worked as well as that moisturizer. You can use it as a serum or slather it on as your only moisturizer and that’s what I do. Can’t recommend it enough. 😊

Hi Lindsey! Thanks for these recs! Gonna try the Saltair body wash! My favorite favorite book of last year was Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. It was all over the best sellers list last year so you may have already read it, but just in case! I want to experience that book for the first time again. 🥲

Hi friend, I was also in a reading rut until I started "The Thursday Murder Club" by Richard Osman. There are 4 books in the series so far and they are so much fun--obviously they revolve around a murder, but they are set in a retirement community in England. Super unexpected and incredibly sweet reflections on relationships and life 🤍 sending hugs from AZ 🌵

Hii Lindsey, Those glasses look amazing on you! I think we have similar face shapes I’m going to to have to check them out. A book that I’ve been reading and have actually enjoyed is “this time tomorrow” by Emma straub. I’m nearing the last stretch of it but so far I think I’m going to give it 5 ⭐️ on my good reads :)

I have mentioned this before in your comments so sorry to be a broken record/feel free to ignore, but I'm going to recommend Happy All the Time by Laurie Colwin again because I really do think you'd like it! I definitely think it's best to go for something very past-faced, addictive, and perhaps on the shorter side when you're in a reading rut (I wouldn't particularly say HATT falls into that category, but just as a guide for finding something that may work, searching for 'page turners' or 'addictive reads' in the genre/s you like might help).

Okay, now I need to try that mascara!! Also, no hate at all because the glasses look adorable on you but every time I see these chunky black frames it reminds me of the "nerd" trend of the 2010s when we would pop the lenses out of 3D glasses
