my recent faves have been exhalation by ted chiang and piranesi by susanna clarke! both are my fave sort of story (speculative fiction). fragrance-wise it's thé matcha 26 by le labo (woody fig heaven), aesop's karst (moody and marine) and eyes closed by byredo which i can't wait to wear when it gets colder

i would 100% recommend 1. blood sugar by sascha rothchild it’s a thriller about a woman who has committed 3 murders in her lifetime. she’s accused of killing her husband but its actually the one murder she didn’t commit. i devoured this book so fast it was soooo good! 2. followers by megan angelo i really think you would find this one super interesting considering your line of work lol. it’s commentary on social media, influencers, celebrity culture, and online privacy completely blew me away. it has a dual timeline set both in 2015 + 2051 and follows 2 best friends who sneakily try to maneuver their way into internet stardom.

My favorite fragrance right now is maison francis kurkdjian gentle fluidity gold...so good. Maybe not your thing though because it seems you like more woody types of fragrances, this one is more vanilla and sweet but balanced by some spicy notes.

From the examples you've given it sounds like you like contemporary/literary fiction focusing on relationships (they're all also largely focusing on characters in their 20s/30s and set in cities). You might like Yerba Buena by Nina LaCour, Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton (this is a memoir but reads similarly to first-person fiction), and Broken For You by Stephanie Kallos. The last one is a little different - more age variance in the cast of characters, and though it's set in Seattle a lot of it takes place in one big house - but is one of my favourites from this year and explores a lot of fascinating relationship dynamics.

Highly recommend The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Circe by Madeline Miller! I read those two immediately after reading Cleopatra and Frankenstein and I think they helped keep me out of a reading slump

The sound of waves by Yukio Mishima is a short sweet read. Till we have faces by C.S Lewis was also very good and gives perspective into what it means to love told through Greek mythology, also a short read. 1984 by George Orwell and normal people by sally rooney

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow actually destroyed me :') such an amazing book!! If you haven't already read "Daisy Jones and The Six" you totaly should! The plot twist is kinda meh but the story, the characters, etc is pretty cool! Also it's all about music and the 70's and you're such a rock/indie music lover that I think you would enjoy it as much as I did
