"The path to fluency is a result of long, continuous and consistent work". I totally agree with that. One year later studying English and I don't consider myself as being fluent yet. But giving up is not an option, never.

Honestly speaking, Hadar, when I found out you've been a non-native English speaker all along, the first thing that struck me back then was you'd be the one who can genuinely relate to all of the struggles and challenges English learners come to face. Having gone through the constant ups and downs of a learning process and finally achieved a level of mastery is not only about your personal success, but also about the hope for millions of future speakers of change for the better. I believe your experience of having set out to learn a foreign language from scratch is what sets you apart from so many other native speakers teaching English out there. Though they might provide quality lectures packed with useful knowledge for students, they'd never get to know what it feels like to either make mistakes, feel devastated or succeed in overcoming those mistakes one by one (unless they have any experience of learning a second language). Without a doubt, you deserve to be more proud of yourself. And I'm grateful to you for letting me have one of the best motivational speakers as my English learning coach! 🥰

I love it again and again. Being yourself not trying to be someone else means that you are proud of who you are and you don’t live a double standard live. Genuine not fake. I love the fact that you understand non native fully. I would rather have you as my teach l love that you’re not judgmental. Always positive .

Your story is so inspiring, you have the most precious lesson to teach to any non native language learner. I'm Greek and I have an advanced knowledge of English, but pronunciation had always been my nemesis, my teacher used to say to me that if I tried to speak to an American with that accent they would think I'm a Russian spy. Through constant observation and trial and error, I have, and I think anyone could, defeated the Russian spy inside me (as weird as that may sound)
@hadar.shemesh
@hadar.shemesh 4 жыл бұрын
Haha I hear ya! But there's nothing wrong with not sounding like what people expect us to sound like when we speak English. Embrace the spy within you, and go kick butt with what you have to say to the world ;)

Amazing, thank you so much for your honesty. You are absolutely right, perfectionism is the most estupid wall we create in front of our goals. From bad to better should be our most cherished time. Cheers for your success.

What a inspiring attitud you have! As I see it that's what it makes a person shine. I thought about something that happens to me once traveling in Portugal. I met a lady in a trip on a bus from one city to another. we talk all the way till our destination. when we were saying good by she asked me: "What language do you speak in your country." I said that we speak spanish in Chile. And she was very surprised because she thought that we speak brasilian portugues. And I was all that time thinkind that she must have been having trouble to understand me. You see we have to lose our fears.

Thank you Hadar! I have watched a lot of channels that teach American English pronunciation, and do agree that being a non-native speaker gives you an advantage - you know exactly what non-native speakers are going through and what sounds might be challenging for them. The native speakers would never know that the schwa or flap-t sounds are hard ones because for them these sounds come so naturally. Thank you also for talking about the confidence aspect of it! I got attracted to your channel because of how natural and confident you sound in front of camera and your goal to help us with our journey and your perfect pronunciation:)! Wishing you a lot of success in Your journey!!

I need you thank you so very much, Hadar! You're being really brave in your approach on how to teach English and making us learners realize that language is an open system, always changing. Language isn't a property, it can't be owned by a group of people and we don't need permission to use it as we need it and as we see it fit. I'm really trying to put into practice your advice of trying to be my best self, the most confident, the most eloquent, the most fluent version of myself. Your channel is amazing and you're truly making a difference in the world.
