Money doesn't equal happiness, but it absolutely is a tool towards the realization of what makes you happy. Money allowed you to travel to Bali to discover this.

In western society we are materialistic rich but spiritually poor. In indonesia they are materialistic poor but spiritually rich. I am half indonesian half dutch. When i went to Indonesia for the first time I cried because I felt like i came home and was surrounded by people just like me🥰

That's what I want.. This is why as also a POC, I'm trying to speak with my husband about moving here because the stresses we have here in the US, that's what we are so use too! We just cannot fathom any other way so we get scared of such a huge change.. Once we do it, then we are like, WHY WAS I SO SCARED!!? Why didn't I do this earlier?! I'm not scared of change because I have faith.. This is why their life expectancy has 22yrs on ours here of 64!! That's why they always greet and smile!! Crime is SO SO SO much less and neighbors help neighbors.. I want so much to move to Bali it's just getting my husband to see that this change will take away the ENORMOUS stress he constantly Iives with daily and cannot truly be happy...

@@Davidoff5185 That maybe a bit of over generalization akin to his over romanticized view of Bali. The truth may well be somewhere in between. However, since he has stepped out of the confines of the material-rat-race based mindset, which is the predominant lifestyle in most developed countries, he appears to be noticing life does not have to be lived that way.

@Elon Musk not saying it’s not massive with amazing places to visit , and that wasn’t the subject at all you completely missed it , and took it way to personal , it’s a known fact that most (not all) Americans don’t even have a passport . And it’s that very beauty that holds them in the country ,which can be unhealthy and place them in a false sense of security , my point here was the guy on this channel was buzzing with the culture of the place where he visited , America can be very fake at times , and that’s what he means by people GENUINELY saying “have a nice day” and meaning it . Not only that but it’s a big world out there so however much beauty the USA beholds it’s nothing on the rest of our amazing world . Also if you notice I say it’s a cool and positive vibe that he gives off, nothing uneducated about any of it, or negative , however Mr Musk I have to say as a fan of Tesla, I’m very disappointed with your negative and quite insulting way of replying, we may all know you, however you don’t know me , so please keep your unjustified accusations to yourself . In the meantime I wish you safe and exciting adventures (outside and within the USA) .. Good luck .

Furthermore just for clarity , if people don’t travel out of their own country , they miss different cultures , different mind set and a different way of life , and that is un educational . Sad but true . Like Luke said it’s not about money it’s about freedom and happiness , USA is expensive as is the Uk, people in America are living in vans in car parks or in tents on the streets , some of them to live in a van costing them still over $900 a month , my house is quite large with a pool and including my phone and internet is less than £100 a month. And this can be the same in Asia , which again is a point of this whole conversation , There are other options , travel is the key . The people living in cars and vans are trapped as they don’t know any different, most have online businesses and could live in other places in other far away lands , in an actual house . America is an amazing country Elon is correct on his description , but like every where else it has its issues . We only live once , so American citizens , Get out there and see the world , and let the world see you .

@@abdonox123 As an Indonesian living in the city, specifically Jakarta, people are always ready to smile and help, like everytime I saw a car/scooter crash I always see people helping and making tea for the victim - but there are also a large amount of bad people that do crime. And often times they do it because they don't have any job to get money. Or theres also a group of bad people that just wants to fight against other groups, basically gangs, the bad side of Jakarta can be seen in the youtube channel '86' or 'Raimas Backbone'. They're the police and they have fun while doing their job too sometimes. Overall Indonesia is a positive place but there are the bad sides of it

I was thinking the same thing as I was watching. This kid has only been there a few months. I wish him a nice vacation, but let’s hope nothing goes wrong. If something unfortunate does happen, he will miss the western standards (like the restaurant health codes he mentioned). There is a price to pay for the “ paradise” he thinks he has found. He’s in the honeymoon stage. I’m glad he’s enjoying it, but he mustn’t mistake it for really living in a developing country.

I was visiting America for a month last year (before the pandemic), and I enjoyed my visit there. I drove like 2500 kilometers (or 1600 miles?) from LA to the Antelope, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, SFO, Big Sur. I was so amazed by the landscape of America. All of that, I enjoyed all of that with a mindset of a tourist. Then, I realized, that it's so hard to work in America. I didn't say that it's easy to get money in Indonesia too, but definitely, we have a slower pace in Indonesia. And, that maybe make us happier than those people who live in Hong Kong for example. But, then again, life is also difficult here for some people, but to compare it with people in those advanced countries, we are definitely more relaxed.

Just found this video and it moved me to tears. The way you spoke about the power of words and energy really resonated with me. Western culture seems to be hurting ourselves spiritually, mentally, and physically. I often dream of the lifestyle you spoke about and I see how Bali emulates that. I haven’t been there, but I know how warm it must feel to be able to exist with so little and realize all of the peace and calmness that is just there. I think it’s so hard for Western culture to experience that contempt because it’s nonexistent. It’s not the place to make a better life for oneself, it’s a place that breeds an energy to never make you happy with what you have. The mindsets we have and the words we speak to ourselves and one another shows nothing but a lack of love. We lack love for a culture that never really came from love. Maybe that’s why it feels so impossible to be happy here. I live in the US, and I dream of so much. Bali is real, and I know one day I can move there, however there’s a part of me that hopes to change the current narrative of Western culture. It might prove impossible, but people need love. Saved even. But how do you save a group of people that doesn’t seem to want to be saved? Do you get them to understand that their current distress is by their own doing? Reveal that they live in a country and work for corporations that don’t serve them? I know I’m not the only one here bothered. I also know how addicting this lifestyle is, but you can’t have your cake and eat it too I guess. For now, I will find out if I can. If not, I hope I am welcomed by Bali natives because happiness and love is the most important thing in the world. ❤️

Before I visited Bali I was worried about how I would be received as a black person. Listen, those thoughts were stupid. I got there and was welcomed by every single person I encountered. The friendliness and vibe is no another level. By day 8 I was so relaxed that my head became completely empty and I felt as though I was walking around on clouds. It was a strange feeling and difficult to describe but was like being in a state of euphoria all day every day. EVERYONE greeted me with love in their hearts, even the street dogs. Bali is a very special place. Some of the people I met there I am still friends with today. I would live there but I’m now making plans to migrate out of the west to the motherland. The west is for zombie life and I want to LIVE.

A different observation: is it that the ability to provide more comfort in your life (due to the exchange rate) is why you are able to enjoy life more? The ability to buy comforts - low-cost housing (as compared to spending $1,000+/month for an apartment), cost of groceries, housekeeping services, coconut lady, massage services, etc. - all frees up your time to focus you self-care and what brings you joy. Just a thought. Regardless, I definitely plan on spending a month in Bali next year!

Bali, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Everyday an offering is left everywhere for the night spirits that are eaten by the dogs to prevent those spirits from harming people in the day time. The only place I've ever visit where I never heard anyone complain about anything. The artwork & incredible Ikat design fabrics where the threads are dyed & the design appears when the threads are woven. Ubud was my favorite place to visit. Thanks for sharing.

You're just euphoric because it's all new for you. Literally everyone who has been to South-East Asia experiences the exact same thing that you are explaining here. Thailand, Bali, Cambodia, Vietnam....It's all the same. These places are special because it's a new experience. And yes I agree, the people there are one of the friendliest and sweetest people on Earth. But it all get's boring after a while. The first time I went to Thailand was like I had discovered Valhalla, it was so special I didn't want to leave. Then I went home and visited Thailand again 5 years later. It was already 50% less special because it was not new for me anymore. Still enjoyable though but not heaven. For me what really happiness is that I can share beautiful places with the people I love. What is the use of laying on a beach alone and "enjoying" the beauty of it, after a while it's worth nothing. Now I am 31 years and planning to have children. Already thinking ahead to move to a good neighborhood where there are good schools. I don't care about beautiful places anymore, I just want the people around me that I care about to have a good life. And that costs MONEY. All that "western society materialistic" bla bla is so cliché. Life expectancy for males is 69.6 years in Indonesia compared to the Netherlands where it's 80.5 years. There's a good reason for that.
