This was still pretty good, but remember this wasn't just a Mike Flanagan project. Out of his previous 4 horror series, this is the first of his to have a co-creator, so maybe that's why it feels a bit disjointed to some .

I absolutely hated the first season of Stranger Things, so I dropped it, but this year I kept hearing really good things about the new season, so I watched it and loved it. I went back to watch previous seasons, I still don’t like the first season though. I think I just care more about the characters than the story, honestly.

Yeah the midnight club felt more like a YA type of series (which tracks because the books it’s based on are YA I’m pretty sure), I watched it with my 17 year old brother and really enjoyed talking about it with him, it made us both super emotional together, but if I had put it on just for myself to be scared I can see it letting me down. Especially given mr flanagan’s previous track record of absolute bangers. I also got my bro to watch midnight mass and hill house, and my mom who absolutely hates horror got super into hill house lol.

I think adults forget the midnight club is in the young adult genre. I thought it was beautiful like Hill House from a story perspective, I thought the last few episodes were wonderful. And a very nom-Flanagan open ending was an intriguing first! 🎃

I will say you're not alone with Midnight Club. I couldn't get into it either. Even though Midnight Club wasn't my favorite thing, I think to call it "bad" it's a whole different thing. To me, I appreciate the approach Flanagan took with the series giving it a more teen and Are you afraid of the dark vibe. Having said that, I'm hoping that season 2 will have a more horror centered story.

Hey Sarah! First of all I’m a huge fan of yours and I love your content. I was really excited to see Fall because of the heights thing, so I was super curious to hear your thoughts on it. Your comment on how the plot was *exactly* the same as 47 metres down was accurate… disappointingly so. As I’ve seen that movie, I knew the big twist at the end of Fall before I even started it. It was a bummer. I know this wasn’t intentional, I just wanted to mention it for the future. All the best.

I don't really agree with you about The Midnight Club being bad but I think why you may not be getting a Flanagan feel from this one is because this is not his own show. He is a co-writer as well as co-director in this one so he did not make all of the episodes here, unlike Hill House and Midnight Mass. That's why it might be feeling off to you. Just letting you know so you're aware this is not on Mike whatsoever. I think it being a young adult show also gets on the feel of this show not being similar to his other work.

I love that you stated that it's okay to stop watching something if you aren't enjoying it, that is 100% valid and allowed and not all media was meant to be enjoyed by everyone. That being said, as someone who lost a friend to cancer when I was about these characters age, watching Midnight Club had been such a cathartic viewing, ESPECIALLY episode 7. That one hit me so hard. I feel like it is more of a drama but I understand the horror aspect (they do explain this in the series as well). The kids are making up fake horror to deal with the rl horror they are currently enduring to get a sense of control of their lives again. I have two episodes left but I've loved every minute so far. Also, absolutely stoked to watch W&W!

I don't enjoy found footage movies for the most part but I don't even really consider them to be a subgenre in the first place. It's really just a technique used the same way animation or shooting on 8mm or 16 mm is a technique and not a subgenre. But I did really like Deadstream, I almost could even say I loved it, which would be the first ever "found footage horror" that I felt that strongly about. On a side note I liked that the main characters personality was grading because I personally find a lot of live streamers and social media "influencers" equally annoying so seeing a movie satirize that was great.

I quit Midnight Club after 4 episodes too. And I’m not excited that some of this cast will be in his next one. Hopefully it’s a totally different vibe.

I loved The Munsters, Halloween Ends, and Fall. I hated My Best Friend’s Exorcism and Deadstream.

I have a burned copy of Boo in an old CD Binder and I think about it often. Excited to hear it's alive and well on Peacock !! Also Rings was a good movie, people just like to be contrary.

Major spoiler alert for Fall: I loved it but have a major issue with the very end: when the dad realizes it's his daughter that survived and he says to her "Let's go home." Ummm...I think the hospital might be a better idea?? To treat her bad sunburn, get some strong antibiotics for her leg wound that is smelling, and to hook her up to an I.V.?? It's minor but this really annoys me.

I'm pretty down on Rob Zombie movies in general now. Other than 3 From Hell, his last GOOD one was Halloween. So I can appreciate the DNF on The Munsters. Deadstream was fun! Not great, but entertaining enough for me. As for Dashcam, I only hated the end. Annie should've died. Given your aversion to horror (TV) series, I'm surprised you even bothered with Midnight Club. I didn't hate it, but didn't like how they swept all the supernatural elements under the rug at the end. I'm also not a huge fan of the young adult plague that we've had since The Hunger Games, but since these young'uns were terminal, it made it interesting. Morbidity is always appreciated in my house.

I ditched Midnight Club after the first episode. Ain't nobody got time for watching stuff that is not satisfying or entertaining. I give it a go and if it doesn't vibe, I switch to something else. It took me years not to feel guilty about it, so I'm happy I've reached that conclusion now, as a 40 year old with a full time job and other commitments

I'd highly recommend watching Tumbbad, Manichitrathazu and Bhool Bhulaiyya and Pizza-all Indian horror/thriller movies.

Whenever I start to watch something and I feel like I have to finish it even though I don't like it, I swear I hear your voice in my head. It's such a common sense advice, but I can't even tell you how many times I've done that. It became a habit and I'm ready to ditch it, so thanks for saying that!
