I ended up having to take bio psychology and sociology cos I couldnt take chemistry. So now if I want to get into medicine I have to take access to medicine courses, thankfully my GCSE results werent bad

If you didn’t meet the requirements then you can’t do it but it’s ok I’m going into year 13 and I’m going 2A-levels and 1Btec tbh I prefer Btec coz it’s easier to do Coursework then remembering all the content to do exam end the of two years

Well After phoning a few sixth forms my sister was allowed to do a BTEC for her first year and if she did well she would have been allowed to start a level chemistry biology and psychology a year after. It was a a very unusual but ideal situation however my friend this year asked them if the same thing would have been possible and they agreed as long as she sat gcse science again at the end of the year (which I think is still very good). So definitely try and call a few smaller colleges as soon as possible before enrolment finishes as they tend to treat you more as an individual student rather than big ones where is harder to bend the rules as they would then have do it with everyone. I feel like I've made mistakes already. I was gonna do Maths, Computer Science and Further Maths but they didn't have enough who chose Further Maths so I had to choose between Business and History. It's not great options since I've never done Business and I haven't done History in a year and my hands will die. Of course, Art is also an option but I did that for GCSE and I almost lost my will to do Art. I love drawing, I don't want to lose my will to draw even more. I ended up doing Business but I have no clue what to expect.

@@raquelanastasia I love Maths too and I was thinking along those lines when I picked Business. My school does offer Physics but I suck at science, too much memorisation involved. My memory is trash so I didn't really do well in Science in general, I didn't reach the minimum requirement to get in. Thanks for the advice though!

Business is super easy at gcse so you'll be fine. Personally I'd recommend economics since it's looked at more by unis.

thank youu I got an 8 at gcse and felt like you and maths is needed for Oxbridge but if you don't lovee maths, maybe do something different. I found it soo much worse than my other subjects but it's probably from my teacher not giving as much homework or guidance, not the maths ahh I wish I had Jen's course ealier 😭😭😭 but whatever you choose, you can get get that AAA needed!! good luck!

@@LeahRebecca Heyy, i'm going into year 12, and not that I know too much about specific entry requirements, but when looking at what is required for Oxbridge (i'm wanting to do medicine too, but not necessarily there) it said that maths isn't required as long as you're doing something that isn't general and more something like physics (I'm doing this instead of maths, as I just like it better) not entirely sure though!

Nope, there’s no requirement for physics even by Oxbridge. You don’t even need maths, I THINK that if you don’t take maths A level, you’ll need to do a maths course in the first year of Cambridge. If you’re interested in that, then make sure to look on Cambridge’s website. Nevertheless, I feel like Psychology will be a break from my other subjects because it seems like I’d genuinely have fun in it. It’s all up to you though, I hope all works out well for you. 🙂

I do psychology & a friend of mine does sociology. essays are huge in both subjects (& obvs English too haha) so make sure you have a passion for writing because you'll need it!

you can definitely achieve that. if you put that motivation and passion to your studies and prove to your teachers that you’re capable of getting the grades, then i know you can achieve those grades, (or even higher), good luck!!

Leah Rebecca I had done art for gcse and it was difficult and it took out the enjoyment of art and I wouldn’t learn that much more than I had already learnt, I wanted to do something different for a level but I still wanted to do something creative but there was nothing else at my school

the main thing ive heard making sure that you understand all of the content, and then for exam practice, write exam essay plans of what you would write an essay on!

History is a lot of content. I just finished Y13 (A*) and I only really realised by the end how important condensing the information is. Trust me, you only need the gist of each section then memorise a few specific statistics/key historical figures and what their strengths/weaknesses/ influence was. I also recommend taking a look at the wording of the actual exam questions you’ll be facing, e.g. for “change/continuity” questions it’s always worth preparing a table between what changed/stayed the same between certain periods of time, for instance. You can do it :)
