I started y12 on Thursday and our school is putting us in year group bubbles so when were around other yr12's theres no masks and no social distancing but when were walking around the school we have to wear masks and somewhat stay socially distanced.

Yeah except at my school the sixth formers are grouped together because of the common rooms and study rooms. All the other years are separated. We have our own walkways aswell so we don’t bump into the other year groups

Basically I didn’t get the grades I need for science Alevels,can I convince my school to let me take Alevel chemistry alongside resitting my science gcse i would also do bio but the class is full but I’m willing to self teach bio at home. Hi! I also did not get the grade for biology, however I emailed the school as I felt the grade I got was unfair and I showed some evidence, and though they were reluctant at first, they have decided to allow me to do bio now, however I have to sit the autumn exam and if I don’t get a 7, then I will have to drop it (im taking 4 subjects because if I dont get the grade and have to drop bio, then I still need to be doing 3 subjects so it would be the same for u as well). So maybe they will let u do the same for chemistry?? U could fight ur case and tell them why it’s important that u take chemistry (e.g u need it for uni or such), and u could suggest doing what I’m doing and maybe they will allow it? Also maybe u should ask them if they would allow u to do an a level privately but sit it at school? U still definitely can get into unis for science degrees with btec applied science however the uni choices may be a bit limited (if u are looking at top unis). I hope this works out for u!

flower 123 I got a 6/6 in synergy science and I needed a 7/7 I talked to my science teacher that I had since year 9 and asked her to talk to the other teachers about it as she knew me well but I’m pretty sure any of your teachers that know you well enough would vouch for you even if it’s from a different subject x

I'm going into year 12 and we aren't even in every week. We are in one week of the other which to me is just madness. Also they are saying when we dont have lessons we are supposed to come home and not do any work at the college, which is also just stupid. For a virus, which yes is deadly but to the VAST MAJORITY of people dont have major symptoms, I honestly think my college is being extremely over dramatic. Oh yeah when I am in the teacher isnt even allowed to come anywhere near us. All these rules will do, is punish the students as we will not learn as much. Also none of these rules will actual dramatically improve the safety of the school either.

you can definitely do biology and chemistry without maths. if you didn’t enjoy it at gcse, probably don’t take it at a level as you will likely not enjoy it then either, not to mention it gets a lot harder but it’s completely up to you.
