I think the bigger reeds are a bit more forgiving, but it does still matter on saxophone too!

Everyone progresses differently. Some people take a long time to progress, while some players can cross the break in half a year. You should progress in a way that you think is the best for you.

Some people can play a full chromatic scale in a year of playing, and some people take 4. It doesn't really matter.

Now I playing a 1.5 year a clarinet (after 17 years sax) and actually break is not so hard. Remembering that clarinet is NOT octave instrument is a lot harder.

Yes! From playing saxophone you have a good idea of how to get and keep the reed vibrating with good support so crossing the break is no problem (as long as you are covering the holes which is a problem saxophone players sometimes struggle with). I strongly believe that clarinet is one of the hardest instruments to play scales on for that reason where the fingerings don't match from octave to octave like pretty much every other woodwind!
