I’m a data person too! I think it’s fun/interesting to see what I wore, how often I switched and what colors/finishes I reach for a different times of the year. This was a fun video- thanks for sharing!

I agree, fun video! I'm going to try to keep this type of data, like you two. I only write the name of the polish I wore, the manicure combos and pedicures. I keep a small notebook for it. I have a full on excel spreadsheet with my polishes broken down by brand and finish (then by color and LE status). When I wear one, the total number of polishes worn out of my total collection will go up, and I also track how many polishes from each brand I have worn in total. I'm currently trying to use all my polishes for a full manicure once before repeating any! I also track favorites, add notes, and have a "potential destash" column. It has been SO fun- love my data!!

This was my second year tracking what I wore. It feeds my math and data loving soul. Let’s wear nail polish, but make it STEM 😂 My two surprises: 1) I had 3 toppers that I wore 5 times during the year. One of the three was unexpected and that was Cirque Colors Tiny Dancer, a pink reflective topper. I never considered myself to be drawn to reflective polishes. 2) There was a regular polish that I wore 3 times, Holo Taco Sunshine Crush. I do love the color of that polish on me, but I only had remembered wearing it twice. It is amazing how adding a topper can change the look of a polish.

I love data too! I used to write what I wore in a notebook because I couldn’t figure out an easy way to track with a spreadsheet. It was easy when I just wore a polish or two but when I got into nail art, it got too complicated. I haven’t been wearing polish much lately due to health issues so my 2024 numbers were pretty sad. 😢 I actually went three months without wearing polish at all. My total number for the year was actually less than your lowest month. 😢Wildflower was my most worn. I think tracking toppers separately would be interesting. Also nail art, untrieds and seasonal racks. I like seeing what people actually wore from their racks! 😊

Yellow is not my favorite polish, and I may only own or wear a few, but one of my top favorite manicures of 2024 was EDM Yelllow Smelt Quartz! 💛

I'm not that organized to do a full on tracking of my polishes, but I think I am getting there and probably will be doing something like that in the future. For the last couple of years, when I would fall in love with using a polish, how it looks, or how long it lasts (if I keep it on for that long), I'd put it in my 'favorites' box. So, I started getting into nail polish at the tailend of 2022, but didn't start really cultivating my collection until 2023. In 2023, I would write down my manis and how I felt about them in journals until I had something in my life come up and for a few months I didn't do any nail polish. Just this past month though, I have been going through my favorites and I swatched them out on a piece of cardboard before I organized them into my 'put away' box, my now creme drawers, speciality+shimmer box, neons/summer drawer, glitter drawer, or toppers box. Since 2023 to 2024, I had over 100 polishes in my favorites and that wasn't even counting 90% of my neons since after I would use them, I would put them in a box in their drawer so I know 100% they weren't getting bleached by the sun.

I’ve never tracked my wearing. I barely track what polishes I own! 😂 but I have to because my collection is too big (2200+) not too. I would see a polish I liked, buy it, only to figure out later that I already own it. lol😂. Watching your video has made me want to start tracking what and who I wear. Also, I remember all the times you used to say that you didn’t like green polishes. And when you begrudgingly said a green was your favorite from a collection! 😂 Glad you’re finally on the green polish train with me! 💚

I love this idea!! I track what I wear but just brand, color and date. I am an excel spreadsheet/data loving person myself (I’m an accountant so it’s a given 😂). I need to try this for 2025 🎉

I also kept track of my manicures last year! Loved it, I mostly wanted to see how many polishes end up being unused in a year. I ended up using 197 polishes at least once, leaving out about 50... not too bad I think! Definitely doing it again this year 😊

So far, my extent of tracking is that I take a picture of most of my manis when I remember to, which is not every single one, unfortunately. I am definitely trying to incorporate more than one polish into most of my manis so I can get all those untrieds tried by the end of the year. I will say, regarding the greens, that 2024 has been a year of the resurgence of green in polish. I think now that makers are making more variation in the shades and finishes, more of us are realizing that green is actually really pretty. Not that many years ago, all you could find of a green polish was a bright, primary creme at Hot Topic, or maybe a very dark teal creme. Nothing shimmery or multidimensional. So it’s not the color’s fault or our fault either. I just haven’t seen many pretty green polishes until recently.

I should try to do this will my collection too. I own a boatload of reds and am wearing them more. I made a list of reds I want to wear as I went through each helmer. I track my usage too. It's so fun! I rate all my manis out of 5 stars and at the end I average it out to see how my year went.

Two things: #1. How do you go about tracking? I have a VERY extensive polish collection and I'm also curious to know what I wear most and when. #2. I'm THRILLED to hear the update about the green polishes!! They are also my favorite!!

This is an interesting idea! I just went through my 2024 and definitely greens, then blues, are most worn, and LynnBDesigns came out on top. It looks like I did approx 60 altogether (not counting toes) and that's about right, as one mani a week is usually my things. Thank you!😊

I love it! I wouldn’t judge a fast or slow season until I see it in the numbers several years in a row. Sometimes we just have busy or slow months and it’s not the same next year. I’d be curious to track the recency bias - so how many of the polishes you wear are new to you this year (similar to untrieds but more around shopping behaviour - do you wear what you buy or does it sit in a drawer). To me, if a polish is sitting in a drawer unused it’s a sign of overconsumption and I’m not getting value from it - the money I spent could be spent better.

Yey green is getting the love it deserves hehe. Oh wow 51 cremes! That surprises me the most tbh. I say the Morgan Taylor still counts as you still chose to wear them. I think it would be really interesting to see what kind of polishes you destash. This was so interesting!

So intereting! I may have to join you in tracking in 2025. I'd be interested to see which of the brands/colors etc I ended up loving. Sometimes what I reach for and what I end up loving on my nails are different. I am thinking maybe I'll rank each wear with stars or something, and then track total number of stars for the different brands/colors/categories. Fun if I can keep it up!

This is a great project. I love data tracking too, I keep track of all my nail polish purchases. But I’ve never thought to do this with what I wear, besides having an album of mani photos. I’d be curious as to how you are tracking this, in a spreadsheet? I’m off work sick today so I may try to put one together for 2025 lol.
