I don't have the space for a physical collection, but I absolutely have a collection and I love it. The joy of reading reviews and browsing albums never went away for me, and doing research and finding things out for myself is something that the algorithmic content delivery machine (tm) has failed to replicate. And, of course, I hate landlords and the idea of renting music, and the idea of losing access to a piece of music that I've formed a strong emotional connection to is not a nice one (though I'm not sure I could form that strong a connection with something I don't have my own copy of). Video games are starting to see the same thing, with console stores being shut down, games disappearing, and servers being shut down, preventing some from working entirely. It's a really bad model.

I hope the artists will get some independent collaborative stuff made, even if I doubt so given the labels hold so much. A free platform (in the open source sense, not 0$) would be great too. Don't know how feasible it is with all the judicial and big money. But back to physical makes sense. I don't know the amount of gigabytes of storage and bandwidth you need to host thousands of tracks and stream them, but it has to be enormous. So, makes sense ecologically. Seems to make sense economically too with what you said. And for the final users, physical means you don't have to worry about a platform shutting down, or you not having the money to pay premium.

this wont happen because its been proven the streaming model does not work. spotify has been struggling to make money, and these labels will lose even more money trying to start their own streaming service

I would pay for music if it went straight to the artist

Beyoncé and Jay Z had a site platform to view their music but I think it flopped 😂😂😂
