If Ash woke up in Time, his starter would be a Bulbasaur as a reference to the manga. Leaf would be the very first and her choice is squirtel. Gary has a Charmander. Because Charizard fits him more and he also had one in the old Artwork. Well actually green/blue.

Hopefully Ash still gets Bulbasaur and Charmander, and hopefully Clefairy, Haunter, Eevee (the sister to Red's Eevee, later evolves into Espeon), Electabuzz, and Aerodactyl too. Shame that he didn't get Pidgeotto though, and I don't really care whether or not he gets Primeape, since he never really used him at all in canon. Hopefully Bulbasaur fully-evolves in this version. Misty could get Ash's original Squirtle and Krabby. Red could get Abra next (around the Nugget Bridge or something), Gastly (the one from Maiden's Peak), Cubone (the one in Lavender Town, whilst Ash gets Haunter), Lapras (the one in Silph Co), Eevee (the brother to Ash's Eevee, later evolves into Jolteon), and maybe Dratini in the Safari Zone (I really don't see it working as Ash's Dragon), and Kabuto whilst in the Grampa Canyon. Ash's Charizard should stay obedient in this timeline, since I can see him having a rivalry with Red's Charizard, maybe evolves into Charmeleon earlier too. I can see Ash's Charizard being about nine foot tall, and Red's being about eight foot. If you decide to have Mr. Fuji give both the twins a Keystone and Megastone, they could either be a Blastoisinite and a Charizardite X/Y, for Ash and Red respectively, or a Charizardite X for Ash and a Charizardite Y for Red (since if Red's getting a Dratini, Ash will need something to substitute for a Dragon-type. Both Ash and Red could get a pair of Eevee twins, with the female going to Ash and evolving into Espeon, and the male going to Red and evolving into Jolteon. For the Safari Zone, Ash could get a Nidoran/Nidorino, and a Rhyhorn, possibly a Scyther too if he still releases Butterfree. Red should get a Tangela, Kangaskhan (or Snorlax), and Dratini. Ash should still get his Snorlax in the Orange Islands. I think that Ash and Red should have only two Pseudo-Legends each; Red gets a Dratini in Kanto, Ash gets his canon Larvitar in Johto (since this is an AU, Larvitar can stay with Ash), Red gets a Beldum in Hoenn, and finally Ash gets his canon Gible in Sinnoh, maybe earlier than in canon. Leaving Ash with Tyranitar and Garchomp, and Red with Dragonite and Metagross. Ash should still get his canon Heracross, Chikorita, Larvitar, Treecko, Chimchar, Gible, Snivy, Krokorok, Froakie, and Rockruff, though. Maybe he could get the Aura Sphere Riolu from Sinnoh too.
