He would have evolved into gabite after the sinnoh league and stayed at proffesor oaks lab. After the unova league he would have used to battle against noivern (cant remember whose) and lost. After that he realised how weak it actually is so with the help from bulbasaur he snuck into ashes backpack in his pokeball. After he came to calos team rocket would attack ash asd steal pikachu after that gabite would have came out of his pokeball and saved pikachu. Ash remembers how little he actually was with gibble/gabite and remembers how fun it was to have aipom around in sinnoh and he realised gabite could achive great things like aipom in sinnoh (evolution). After that gabite helps ash stop the garchomp and was again easily defeated despite doing massive damage with draco meteor. After that we have an entire episode about gabite in which he evolves into garchomp. After ash returned to professor sycamores lab team rocket steals the garchompite and ashes garchomp and ashes garchomp was saved by mega evolving with ashes key stone. After the mega garchomp defeated team rocket proffesor sycamore offers ash the garchompite but he doesnt take it. He tells the proffesor that mega evolution causes the pokemon pain if the bonds arent strong enough. So he rejects the stone but proffesor sycamore promises ash that he can borrow it in the kalos league. Now you have 2 choices: 1. Ash keeps garchomp, mega evolves it, and doesnt catch goomy and ash greninja nver happens because ash already has an ace orrrrr... 2. He Ditches garchomp for goomy and forgets about it at the league. Sorry for my poor spelling and tnx for reading.

3rd year* Ash officially had a SECOND Christmas celebration at one point. And there have been around 150 days/nights in the series so far, ontop of the 3 times he took a 1 month long boat trip. That's approximately 8 months, and the 1st generation ended after 4 months. Meaning Ash has to be late 2nd year as of Alola, or a full 3 years by now. Which means Ash has his resume in 2.5-3 years. The pidgeotto twist would only work effectively if we do a sorta "taking of the mantle" story with it and pidgeot. Have 2 more battles between ash and farrow, with the second involving the pidgeotto challenging the fearrow and losing. Then the third match happens and pidgeotto and pidgeot team up and do a tag-team sky attack, like a tagteam lariat. The fearow falls, maybe have a gag with team rocket where its giant beak falls onto them like a missile.

What I love about the Pidgeot and its evolution line is that they most resemble cockatiels. Just look at them! The crest on the head, the long tail feathers, the kissable fluffy feathery plumage on the belly, only thing that's missing are the red cheeks. Taillow and Swellow are pretty cute too. Talonflame and its evolution line are adorable too.

Changes from canon begin at 3:43. Personally, I'd have the reunion kept as it was (with the number two Pidgeotto saving Pikachu while Pidgeot saves Ash), but have Pidgeot stay and train the number two until the Battle Frontier. Then, when he returns he uses Pidgeot in the Frontier, while No. 2 has since become a Pidgeot. Just in case, Ash's stays behind to make sure No. 2 can handle the pack, then it rejoins Ash's team officially when Ash returns in Alola, either coming back with him or staying at Oak's.

I'm the only one who noticed Ash didn't bring out his Pidgeotto in the first movie. It was still in its Pokeball and when Ash turned into stone, the Pokeball with Pidgeotto was stone as well.
