Thank you!!! Someone finally realised that Ash wouldn't get a Squirtle as his starter! It makes sense that Professor Oak would save Squirtle for Gary. I was looking into this a couple of weeks ago and noticed the videos would show him getting Squirtle.

@@leonardofarias8843 I do. I don't think Professor Oak really cares about their rivalry and despite what Pokemon Gary chose, there would be someone starting from Pallet that would have a type advantage over him. Just happened to be Ash.

@leonardofarias8843 Pikachu Ash's cannon starter has a type advantage against Squirtle. That did not bother Proffessor Oak or make him think Gary was at a disadvantage. Just like he did not did not think Ash was at a disadvantage because he gave an unamed trainer a charmander which has a type advantage against a Pikachu. Also let us not forget that Gary once beat Ash and Pikachu using a normal type eevee. Type advantages are not everything.

Ash having 2 Bulbasaur and 2 members of the Rattata line. I don't really like this. It would have made more sense if Brock got the Bulbasaur (And the Charmander for that matter), while Ash traded back Raticate for Kingler, because he realized he himself already had a Rattata. However, the rest i don't have issues with. You could for example have used Rattata against the 8th gyms Kingler and let it evolve, losing to the next mon.

I did the second bulbasaur because it was the only one of the 3 starter Pokemon that Ash could actually get based on the anime and I didn't want Ash to trade back because I wanted to show Ash as someone who didn't care about his Pokemon as much as in the anime. Also because Ash is pretty dumb near the beginning

Ash lost to Ritchie due to bad referee + exhaustion after the TR battle. With the team you gave him here he would have destroyed Ritchie. Also, Jessie and James were jailed in the actual anime (the Butch and Cassidy debut episode). They escaped easily. So they'd probably be around to lead the grunts on the SS Anne mission (if not, there should have been some other agents present)... Which means that they may have died on the sinking SS Anne in this timeline.

I don't think that not having Pokemon that stay out of their pokeballs or ones that don't respect him initialy would make him view them as tools. It's not like every trainer that treats their pokemon as friends had those experiences.

*Great video but some things I think that would've been different in my opinion:* - Ash wouldn't likely have caught a second Bulbasaur but instead Damien's Charmander. - Ash wouldn't have caught any Horsea. He instead would've used his Krabby/Kingler as his main Water type pokémon. - Ash would still catch his Muk but only used it in Kanto to defeat Jeanette. 1:14 minutes in I was excited to watch this but the fact that you say that this shapes Ash's interactions with pokemon already has me off. The fact is Ash has had his interactions with pokemon and his love of pokemon shaped before then. When his life was saved by them cuddling up to him for warmth. This disregards his backstory and has me under the impression that this will be a 'more evil/edgy' Ash, which I'm simply not interested in. Well I appreciate the comment a lot. I did say it shapes the way ash looks at Pokemon, but it doesn't come up again much. It essentially just makes ash a little more like someone would play a Pokemon game, choosing his strongest Pokemon to be on his team as opposed to who he's had the longest. I agree he has love for Pokemon long before he turned 10, but he learned and absorbed so much information during his first few days as a trainer (mostly so the audience could learn about Pokemon) that I feel like that Pikachu bond really held a lot of weight. Hence my decision.

@@Dwalks710 All I need to do is say, look at how he interacted with the Spearow in an attempt to save Pikachu. He learned a lot but Pikachu was shaped and changed by him, not vice versa. (We see this ESPECIALLY in Journeys) Your word choice, tools, also is like a serious Team Rocket vibe, not a video game vibe. Rotating pokemon and choosing the best ones for the battle is different than seeing them as closer to tools and not friends, like completely different. Ultimately I understand why you made that decision, but in my mind it is completely wrong. Hence why I still have yet to watch the video and to be honest won't.

What i dont understand is why would proffessor oak just have 1 squirtle. 1 charmander and 1 bulbasaur. If loads if young pokemon trainers start their journeys probably every week .
