1st, they do NOT neglect Bart. Even as a baby, Bart was more destructive. That's just his personality. He causes more problems, they are more mad at him. Lisa causes less problems and does well, they are proud of her. It's not neglect, it's literally a consequence of their own actions And frankly, they actually have a lot of pride in Bart when he does the minimum (Bart gets a D and his parents put it on the fridge in pride)

Bart does chaotic things because his Family completely neglects him. Despite the yelling, the fighting and the strangling, Homer and Bart are actually close, but since Homer is either drunk or at work, Bart has no one. Marge, Lisa and Maggy have each other cause their all women. The only people Bart ever has is Millhouse or Flanders. Bart mostly get's in trouble cause of peer pressure from Jimbo and his friends. Bart has a big heart, such as the time when he tried adopting a 10-year-old kid cause he felt sorry for him.
@daniapfel28252 ай бұрын

@@Boldorx That's not Bart's fault. Bart was a surprise baby so Marge and Homer had to get married early which put them into debt, in this scenario they waited an additional two years before having their first child, Lisa. While, yes, that two year gap meant Homer was able to focus on working at the plant and making a name for himself and Marge was able to start medical school, that was THEIR decision as parents, not Bart's fault, he didn't ask to be born.
@homersimpson65855 ай бұрын

So, it was revealed to be a dream. I don’t know why anyone else has said it but I think the Principal and the Pauper was a dream sequence dreamt up by Bart and Seymour was never an imposter, he is the real one all along. I too dismiss its canonity (or whatever that word is) to protect its legacy like with that Foster cartoon (I never watched it) with that episode with Bendy in it which was dismissed by everyone calling it non-canon. I like to think it’s to protect the legacy of the show.

There is one what if scenario I have pondered over a lot. What if Homer and Barney never met, and Barney never touched a drop of alcohol in his life? I think that Barney Gumble would be successful, wealthy, and maybe even be the one who married Marge instead if Homer and alcohol weren't in the picture. Barney might even be a genius entrepreneur more than Homer's brother was as well. But having met Homer and being influenced by alcohol seems to have taken away his true potential.
