@@Videntis.History Yes of course. I'm not sure how much help I could be, lacking experience. I just think the internal politics of the briefly lived Mexican empire could be an interesting subject. You had of course the Habsburg legacy of Maximilien, the french influence of Napoleon III but also a contingent of belgian civil servant that came with Charlotte and had influence in the state affairs. There are many conflicting interests to balance in the empire. Basically you could have Maximilian winning the war before 1870 with the Republicans exiling in the U.S. but when Napoleon III falls, Maximilian is without a backer with a menacing United States to the north. I don't know how much diplomacy would be by him giving how much of a dillettante he was and how much would be from his wife. Essentially they would need a strong european ally/patron. Depending on who that ends up being it could alter the balance in Europe as it could force the U.S. to align with the enemies of the power that seeks influence in America. WW1 could even start not even because of some foolish thing in the Balkans but some foolish thing on the Rio Grande and spread to Europe from there. Also a comment about the Bavaria video. It's a great scenario but given how advantageous the Peace treaties are to France, don't you think the UK would protest and maybe try to sabotage things, or get some additionnal concessions elsewhere?

Would Persia still fall in this timeline? If you don't have the Byzantines be exhausted by decades of war at the time, the persians wouldn't be so weak either. You could have an interesting state of affairs where an arabian empire extending through southern mesopotamia is essentially a buffer state between Byzantium and the Sassanids. And the region becomes tri-polar with a balance of power.
