To be fair, if it weren't for the British we would have Washington, Oregon and Idaho. They belonged to the Hudson's Bay Company and would have become part of Canada but Britain decided to just give them to the US. Same with the British Columbia coastline being fucked up, Canada had that coast with the river full of gold, but Britain gave it to America to improve relations.
