This was a fun story! While I admit to being a little disappointed over the rush this story had (The Namek Saga was basically done in one part), and the story ending at this point, I commend you for managing to squeeze this What If in one month and the quality it has. Imagine if she had opened a school after the Cell Saga, finding and teaching those with Magic and Arcane potential. Like Baba, but more publicly known. Do what Goku and the others didn’t and not shy away from the spotlight, just… not relish in it. Opening a school would help bring in money, Gohan would be able to interact with others his age much sooner, and if fate allowed it, Videl could have a similar potential, allowing Hercule to meet the team on a… smaller scale, away from the majority of fans, so Mr. Satan could interact beyond his facade… and maybe come to understand Ki properly and not dismiss them as tricks. Thoughts?

I very much agree. Go the Dragonball Online route with her. Have Chi-Chi open a school to teach magic and the arcane arts. I think Videl's inner beast would be an eagle going by the names she had for some of her moves in the Budokai series like Eagle Kick. As this series has shown, magic has proven to be quite the force to combat Saiyan power.

I think there are multiple things that were glossed over here. Vegeta would still definitely be evil. Without the catalyst of future trunks dying and bringing him to the side of good and giving him an appreciation for the life he had built. Vegeta definitely would've tried to fight Chi-chi or Goku at least during the time skip. I also don't think that the dragon balls would be on Earth. The dragon team saved Namek, yes, but in this instance, the bond eith Dende didn't grow like in the original, nor did the Namekians build a relationship with the Earthlings by spending time with them on Earth. I feel like the dragon team going to namek and taking a namekian away, never to return, is not something many or any of the Namekians would agree with. Lastly, you mentioned buu in the marro saga, but why release him when the story could finally utilize Goten effectively? The story feels rushed because it's hard to balance Chi-Chi's magic with Ki. Maybe that's the case, idk, but it felt off toward the end. There was no resolution for any character other than Chi-Chi, who seemed relatively unhinged toward the end of the cell fight. Thought that unhinged feeling could be my interpretation of the voice acting.

I wasn't a fan of the extreme focus on Chi-Chi in this one. Every battle had Chi-Chi dominating it, no other character got to shine. Why was Goku always taking the back seat? Why did Piccolo even fuse with Kami, they never fought Cell. This series wasn't really "what if Chi-Chi was a Z-Fighter", it was more "what if Chi-Chi was the protagonist". It started out well but steadily devolved. I'm sorry but I don't think a human could keep up with Saiyans quite this much, magic or not.

I agree. I liked the story but it feld rushed after we got into Z. I was hoping to see what would happen to Goten because in this story, there should be nothing stoping him from training with his dad and Whis.

Tbh it sounds like this Vegeta could've been like a different interpretation of his character growth. That his obsessiveness for fighting literally stomped out the fighting spirit of someone he at least could respect from a battle sense. Or the fact that the Frieza Force is in a different state than the canon or that his own son was destroyed in an alternate timeline because of Gohan's negligence/Vegeta's past influence, that would change him. Or you'd think that because Chi-Chi is a Princess and Vegeta is a Prince, they'd bring up some royal privelege debate. But as of right now, this is unexplored. If it was just the passage of time that calmed Vegeta down, he wouldn't have gone Majin in canon. The Dragon Balls I feel could still happen, just not with Dende. Because the Dragon team left a great impression on Guru, even using Earth's Dragon Balls to restore Namek quicker. Plus Piccolo was Nail to a degree. They would probably just allow a different, more experienced Dragon Clan Namekian to go to Earth. And really after Cell, they had years to negotiate with Namek on that front even if that may come at the cost of the whole 1 year revival thing for Cell's victims. I haven't read the latest arcs of the Super manga, only heard bits and pieces. But I would imagine if Buu has a Supreme Kai's essence, Beerus and Whis would want to look into it as Buu might actually stave off Beerus' demise if Shin ever fell. I do agree with the resolution thing mostly. Masako seems to hint at some follow up or opportunities to fill in the gaps, but for now...I'm glad it's not the Goku show, but Goku doesn't really do Goku things and Chi-Chi's smarts take priority. It's kind of refreshing, but it doesn't make for a lot of conflict. So far, we didn't get to see Future Goten's endeavors trying to fix his future given his backstory. Gohan is a non entity after Cell it seems, and that's weird because I think a good chunk of viewers really wanted to know how Adult Gohan would be as a fighter if both his parents were supportive of that aspect. We didn't see any consequences from the Frieza Force's new arrangement, we just kind of assume Ressurection F/Broly happened and the Ginyu Force/Sorbet/Berryblue/Raditz/Whoever tried to bring Frieza back. I could not tell you the state of Androids 16, 17, and 18 in this story. Krillin literally went in the Time Chamber with Chi-Chi for 6 months as kids, and doesn't even factor as a surrogate uncle or something for Gohan/Goten. You'd think after everything, there would be more of a magic vs. ki dilema with Chi-Chi or at least Roshi and Baba having a conversation, but nope. Fire Mountain and it's safety, isn't brought up past OG Dragon Ball. You'd think maybe on some level Chi-Chi would compare a relatively-young Cell to her first meeting with Piccolo Jr. if only to show that Cell is a different beast entirely. The cameras were rolling, did everyone just see Chi-Chi and them wipe out Cell while Hercule unwillingly did nothing? How did that affect their peace time? Would Videl, the person who liked fighting and those who defeated Cell, not want to learn from Chi-Chi? It's weird how Goku got to train with his adopted father in the afterlife, but Chi-Chi literally befriended King Kai and is friends with Baba, but never got to meet her mother again. That last part probably could've fit into the Cell thing honestly. Chi-Chi brings up that Gero probably gave up on Cell's magic because he felt the biological aspects far outweigh the magical ones. That the only reason Cell would probably use magic is to nullify another magic user. And that's where Baba's idea comes into play. But it's not an easy task. Baba sends her to King Yemma. There, she finds some spiritual/emotional awakening thing and gets to have a talk with her mother, the motivation for trying to protect her home originally. In that conversation, she can find new resolve there and more confidence that she can definitely make sure Gohan, Goku, and Goten won't end up like their future counterparts. Her mother giving her advice on family that she wasn't able to give her in life, and that eventually passes down to Gohan, Videl, Pan, and whoever Goten ends up with. But for a story planned to just be covered within a month, it definitely has a Chi-Chi that works and could've been cool and it doesn't just repeat Videl from last December. It's just that I get why some of these What-Ifs take massive breaks in between episodes. There's a lot to consider.

@@dscyrux yea unfortunately i agree, chi-chi had way too many W's and felt very mary-sue esque in some instances here. not to mention the whole scenario with cell in the last video with everyone agreeing to shoot at cell just didn't seem plausible for DB. theoretically the z-fighters could do that in *just about* any fight, end it with a mass of beams etc, be scummy fighters, but it's just not really in their character to do so. didn't really like the last couple episodes, everything else was nice though.

Yeah, I think a lot more could have been done with this one. At the very least, there should have been a lot more to say about Gohan and Goten getting a considerable power boost. I also think Masako could have done an interesting story with Zamasu, especially given their connection with Future Goten in this story. It would have been cool to see Future Gotenks taking on Zamasu. I think he really just wants to be able to tell more self-contained stories, rather than constantly having them branch out and spiral out of control. Having to go back and figure out what happened in your other other other 15-part story so that you can make part 16 must get tiring after awhile.

Okay, but I do have some questions though: 1. What ever happened to Raditz in this story? Wasn’t he still alive this whole time? What has he been doing? 2. What about Zarbon and Dodoria? Weren’t they alive too? Were they the catalyst for Golden Frieza instead of Tagoma and Sorbet? And how about the Ginyu Force, what have they been up to? 3. What about Goku Black? I can see how that would be mostly unchanged, but I’d like to at least touch on how Future Goten managed and if he hooked up with Mai or not.

Eh, well, I feel like it’s a bit of a waste not to delve deeper into Super. I mean, she needn’t be the focus, but certainly her timeline is different enough that it would have to change things. For instance, Gohan would probably be more poised to become the lead, and his potential ability to become a warlock, himself, would be interesting. He might even have been able to take Moro on in a magic battle, himself. Not to mention what the Goku Black arc could have in store. Methinks it could end up being a Gohan Black arc. Ah, well, we can only hope that we get something like what happened with the What If Broly & Android 16 Met where it gets retooled once the original concept is concluded.

Yeah, Gohan would definitely become a more interesting character with Chi-Chi's Inner Beast training, paired with his more confident personality, adding to his hybrid Saiyan potential. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not Zamasu would even want Gohan's body for his magical abilities. He might have the mindset that the kind of magic that Chi-Chi and Baba employ is no different than the kind the likes of Babadi uses: Products of the demon realm, despite the former using it for the side of good. In his mind, it would all the more reason to purge mortals; for not only do they mock the gods by trying to copy their divine powers (Goku), but they contaminate the beautiful universe they (the gods) have created, with detestable demonic powers. In short, Zamasu would never dream of contaminating his divinity by even using a body sullied by arcane magic.

It's an ok what if. It has a lot of potential. I even love the outfit Baba gives Chi Chi throughout this what if series. Gohan being a lot more aggressive is a nice touch considering that this version of Chi Chi is a lot more calm than her main counterpart. It's a great switch up imo Goten coming from the Future instead of Trunks is a nice touch. But I feel like this is more of a "What if Chi Chi was the main character of Z" than a "What if she was a Z fighter." When I say the former. I don't mean like Chi Chi being Goku, she still plays the same role and later becomes a lot more useful, I feel that Goku got the short end of the Power Pole *wink* Don't take what I say the wrong way, You have a lot of great what ifs, a lot have takes I might and might not agree with, but that's the point of a what if right?

I disagree about Moro because that guy is a one trick pony. His lack of imagination thoroughly outmatched by Chichi's ingenuity and knowledge,, and once the severing bull hits Moro the guy would be much easier to deal with for the likes of Buu. No uninspired magic tricks to mimic Cell further here.

What if suggestions: 1. What if Katas went to earth with his son? 2. What if Chi Chi was evil? Reason for that would be either her father's tyranny influencing her too much or Goku's behaviour driving her insane to the point of joining forces with Freeza, Gero, etc. 3. What if Yamcha and Chiaotzu were in the TOP? They could get as far as Roshi and 18 did, maybe even Piccolo. 4. What if King Cold was revived instead of Freeza? Due to his pragmatic nature, he would decide to rebuild his empire, train for at least 5 years and invade during End of Z. 5. What if Kami had spawned during the first King Piccolo wars? 6. What if Shin and Kibitio were like Zamasu?

What if Goku regained his Saiyan nature. Set up would be during the Cell arc. When Goku and Gohan were in the Time Chamber. Gohan hit Goku in the back of his head extremely hard. What if this triggered his lost memories and Saiyan attitude. Imagine the internal struggle. Not knowing if he is Goku or Kakkarot. Sometimes being overly cruel or sadistic. It would be like a split personality. This could really change the Cell arc and several arcs after, especially the Goku black Arc.

OK, I get it now. Chi-Chi's story is pretty much done but there's tons of potential for how Goten and Gohan turn out as a result of this with the extra training with their mother. If you do an epilogue for this series, I hope some of those other lose ends can get tied up. Idea for another What if... series: What if Ox King was a Z Fighter? Or at least more relevant to the story in some way. He has a lot of power and potential for how he could influence things if he had a more active role in the story, even if its just grandpa teaching his grandsons life lessons or if Gohan or Goten were to follow more in their grandfather's footsteps instead of going their own way.

I tried making a comment about this story. All of the things I loved, but also a lot of missed opportunites to explore with it. It was too long to fit. I kept getting errors. I doubt anyone was going to read that essay anyways, but I wanted to say this story would've much better if Chichi was treated as a strong SUPPORTING character, rather than pushing both Goku and Gohan out of the main character slots. There really were so many great things that could've come out of this AMAZING concept MasakoX started here. And there were great creativity here that I loved. I just can't get into the details because it can't fit in the KZbin comment section lol

I must admit, I haven’t listened to many of these MasakoX what if series all the way through, so I’m not sure if many of the others had a similar tone to their endings. There’s something about this ending that hangs a weight on my heart. Over the course of one month, we’ve heard the story of this woman’s whole life from a young, energetic girl, to a peaceful, old lady. Even though Chi-Chi’s living a much happier life in this timeline, hearing of it all in a month… is like a cutthroat reminder that life is precious, and it can whiz right past you. If you’re reading this, please, please, please do what you can to live your best life.

Really looking forward to this,and the thing i always liked about Masako is that he can give time to shine to a side character in a good what if and has good story telling. It makes sense for her to step down after the cell fight in the story,and the turn of event in this what if story makes sense the relation between gohan and goten in this timeline.

It was a great what if even though it was rushed and I expected more magic tricks, I just ponder how much of a boost it gives you when you fuse that magic with ki. Is this really the end? It feels like such a waste to not want to empower all this magic, but at least she gave her best all this time, its ok to retire.

Damn. O.o Chi-chi went full savage on Babadi. Good for her! While I'm mildly disappointed that this one is entirely done, that we won't get any further ripple effects from Chi-chi learning magic, I'm always glad when stories don't drag on too long.
