Besides Dumbledore killing Harry, Harry could also walk through the veil: Harry tells Dumbledore he needs some time to say goodbye and put things in order, but actually goes to the veil. He does it to protect Dumbledore's soul in addition to protecting the world, and so would truly be greeting death as an old friend.

@@MerkhVision House elf magic is considered more powerful than wizard magic, and if wizard magic becomes more powerful when twin cores are used, imagine if all the wandless magic house elves of Hogwarts joined together. As for the ghosts and/or poltergeists, they might be able to sense the fragment of Voldemort in Harry (since Harry isn't trying to hide it, and there were no spells from Voldemort to cloak and/or protect it) possibly allowing another avenue to attack the fragment without killing Harry.

That would be interesting, because Harry would recognize him as a criminal from the muggle news, and I don't know if Sirius had his wand. And at that point Harry didn't really care about the law, because he thought he was already a criminal. Although Sirius hadn't been trying to use that encounter to talk to Harry, he just wanted to see him. Although if they did talk, Harry might go on the run with Sirius.

Harry would have no reason whatsoever to believe Sirius. There would've been no proof and nobody to back Sirius up. Remember: Sirius also has no idea what Harry knows about him. As far as Sirius is aware, Harry believes that he is responsible for betraying James and Lily, and might even recognise him from old photos. Sirius is far too clever and canny to attempt it, given the risk. He could've tried contacting Harry any number of times both before and after to explain the truth, but didn't. Bear in mind that for Sirius, it's a suicide mission. He knows that he will almost certainly die. Whether Harry knows the truth is immaterial; what matters is that Peter dies and Harry is safe. Nothing else matters. It's on!y upon meeting Harry and Remus that Sirius finally finds a reason to live rather than die.

I'd really think that Harry casts Sacrificial Love for everyone, but meets his family at Kings Cross: Sirius, Remus, James and Lily They sit there and talk for however long they want, just to have that time together, and let Harry choose his path once again. And Harry...I think comes back. He feels happy and renewed once again to live his life to the best and move on, knowing Voldemort was gone forever and he knows that his family and friends will be with him. Always.

While this would have been cool it is impossible. The whole point of Harry sacrificing him was to destroy the horcrox inside of him. Without destroying the horcrox Voldemort can’t die. So without Harry sacrificing himself Voldemort would have not died even if Harry tried to kill him.

I really love your theories. Even this one’s great! BUT you overlooked the fact that Harry decided to hide his invisibility cloak and his wand underneath his jacket so he wasn’t tempted to defend himself. I think this would have done the trick and his wand wouldn’t have acted against it’s masters will. In the battle of the 7 Potters Harry is close to unconscious so his wand protects him. But in the woods he willingly sacrifices himself to save the wizarding community

@@iRule37 I think Dumbledore sends Fawkes with Harry, "to give him the strength to do what he needs to do". But really Fawkes is there to protect Harry after the Horcrux is gone, because that bird is really capable, and can even take a killing curse if necessary.

You present two options for the unbreakable vow, but there's also a third: Snape just refuse and put Narcissa and Bellatrix out. It's not because he's a spy or anything, he's just a deatheater, he don't care about Drago and would not put his own life at risk by pronouncing a very dangerous spell that apparently even Voldemort doesn't use on his own deatheaters, as none of them died suddenly when they fail, and by intervening in a secret mission that Voldemort gave to Drago to torture him. And Bellatrix would not have found that strange, it's that Snape accepts the vow that she found strange, she was sure he would refuse the vow even before Narcissa presents the idea.

I like the idea of his parents holding onto him and guiding him from kings cross station through the platform 9 3/4 but that is what sends him back. I feel like leading your child across the platform is a big deal for wizard parents and they never got that opportunity and Harry never got that either. Well Snape could also have said no to the vow under the argument that this would undermine direct order from Voldemort to Draco. And when Bellatrix tries to pin him down on it, Snape could just ask Voldemort himself if Bellatrix was out of line - or more likely suggest to Bellatrix that he'll discuss that.

I think it would go something like this. Harry wakes up surrounded by white, he looked around and found what to be the cleanest kings cross he had ever seen. He saw Remus, Sirius, Fred, and lastly his parents. He smiled, if he could not spend his life with Hermione, Ron, and Ginny, this was the best he could hope for. He had always meant to carry them into death with him. His mother and father smile. Harry wonders for a moment if he could touch them, without another thought as if they had read his mind, they launch for him, holding there son in a tight embrace for the first time in 17 years. Next he was hugged by Sirius and Lupin with a pat on the back from Fred. “Where do we go from here? Is this the end the last place we will go?” Harry asked with a smile as he looks at his mother. “This is an in between” his mother gave a small smile back. “I’m not sure why you picked kings cross Harry, but at least it’s smells better then normal” Sirius barks. “I chose ? Is this all just happening in my head?” Harry looks at the group before him. “It feels so real” he says softly. “It could be real if you chose Harry, you have given up so much. You could choose to stay and move past this place with us.”Lupin ever the professor reply’s. “Or if you so choose Son, you could board a train and live, chose something that takes far more courage and live the life you always should have had, family and friends and no Tom Riddle, no Voldemort.” His father finishing Lupins sentiments. “But all of you-“Harry starts. “Will be with you”he mother interrupts Harry looks over at Fred to behind him where under a bench dust and red remains, rather oddly for such a clean, pure space. Harry looks back to Fred. He feels it for a moment the pant of loss. “What do you think, this is the most quite I have ever seen you” “It’s not for me to choose, you have chosen others since you were a lad Harry. But I think if I could choose to go back, to Mum and Dad, to George, Ginny, Ron and Hermione along with the rest of that crazy lot, I would. I feel peace here happiness, that would be doubled by you, that I’m sure you would feel more over then me, but life is moving and I no long move with it. You could. Isn’t that what really defeats Voldemort, really defeats death.” Fred says. Harry thinks for a long moment. He looks at his mother, her sweet face and green eyes, his eyes. She smiles “it’s okay love, we will wait for you.” His father nods and Remus and Sirius smile. Fred looks at him, thinks for a moment “tell them I love them.” “And Harry, tell Percy I don’t blame him.” Harry nods and with one last look at his parents, his family, he boards the Hogwarts express to head home one more time.

I like to think if Harry had to pick a way to kill himself he’d walk through the veil in the Department or Mysteries the way Sirius died, instead of just letting Dumbledore finish him off at Hogwarts. This would also lead to a scenario where all his friends can watch him walk on to the after life and it would still be a really emotional scene. I only say this because I don’t believe he would be able to actually come back from death this time no matter what method he picks.

That's a good idea, adding onto that, even if he could come back, I don't think it would apply to the veil. I always assumed that Harry's body needed to stay in the mortal realm and intact, or rather, the living side of the veil, to come back. So, I would assume that Harry would only be able to come back if he died via avada kedavra

Man, imagine how things would change if Dumbledore could resist temptation completely, broke the wand, never borrowed the invisibility cloak, and never put on the ring? How would his long-term plans for Harry's life have changed.

Could the wand even be broken? Yes, I know in the movie Harry breaks the wand like it's just a random twig (a scene that I've always despised), but in the book that's the Elder Wand, the wand of wands, one would think the wand might backfire or turn against its master if it senses they're trying to break it. In the wands lore presented in Pottermore it's stated that wands can become tempermental and turn against their master depending on the circumstamce.

I've seen this on another channel and I think it'd be cool to see your take on it. "What if Dudley Dursley was a Wizard"? So many aspects of it would be so interesting to explore. Dudley being woefully out of his element, how he and his parents would react to Harry's wealth and fame, the House he'd be in and how his housemates would react to him, etc.

The wand and the user share a connection, which is stated in no uncertain terms many times. If Harry had gone to Voldemort, willing to die, and knowingly, willingly, consciously not going to even try putting up a fight, I have extreme doubts the wand would have acted like it did in the battle of the seven Potters. I agree and just commented along the same lines. No reason to believe Harry doesn’t put his wand away here, and there definitely isn’t a reason to think the wand would act of it’s own accord without it at least in his hand (J even says as much in this video, that as long as it’s in his hand it would react). So I agree 100% - Harry’s wand is away, leaving the remainder of the story essentially just like the original but with Dumbledore there to party along with everyone else.

Even if the wand was capable or doing something like that which there's no precedence for in the lore, I strongly don't believe the wand would even if it could, because again in the words of Ollivander, the wand and the owner form a symbiotic relationship, they become an extension of each other, the owner learning from the want, the wand from the owner. The wand, even if it could act, almost certainly wouldn't go against it's owners conscious and willing acceptance and desire not to fight. I guess it's possible considering Holly wood is considered protective and Phoenix cores can sometimes show their own initiative or act of it's own accord. However none of the wand's characteristics show it as being remotely rebellious. I see no reason to expect the wand would completely, outright go completely against it's owners wishes, even were it in his hand. In the instance we see the wand act of it's own accord Harry was not willing to die and was just prior actively fighting, and Harry himself in that instance was unable to act for himself, the wand itself finds itself in a very different circumstance than in this video.

My favorite fan-fictions often has Dumbledore bashing (bc he deserves it) but you managed to make him sweet even in this terrible circumstance. Excellent writing, and your right really emotional ending. I personally think it would be cool if harry got a second chance afterwards. (I know he isn’t the master of death in this one but just go along with it) He woke up. He’s ten again, soon eleven, he knew this, almost like an instinct. Suddenly someone was knocking on his door, “Harry get up, you need to eat breakfast. We have a big day ahead of us, Padfoot and Moony will be here in less than half an hour.” a male voice said while continuing the rhythmic tapping. Harry had never really heard that voice but he knew who it was instantly. He got up and rushed toward the it. Could it be true? he thought. Slamming the door open, almost hitting his head in the process, he saw him. Although fuzzy without his glasses he could make out the raven black hair, glasses and loving but surprised smile on the man lips. “Dad!” He said excitedly, Harry rushed towards the 30 year old, crushing his arms around him needing to feel his realness. “I didn’t think you were this thrilled to go to the zoo, but good morning to you too.” James laughed out as someone else was approaching. Harry turn to look to at her, still holding on to his dad. He couldn’t make out her face, being so far apart, but of course it was her. Unmoving he watched she, with long red hair and a blue flowy dress, came nearer. “Oh Harry, here you go.” Muttering a spell under her breath, a pair of glasses flew into her hands. Kneeling down to his hight, she put the glasses on his face and cupped his cheeks. “Now you see me” she said with adoration. And he did, her contagious smile, the emergence of some wrinkles and her green eyes meeting his. An overwhelming feeling of relief, love and grief hit him. Was it finally over? The playful glint in her eyes changed into a look of concern when he began crying. “Aww, it’s okay, you’re safe” his parents echoed, engulfing him in a hug. His tears turned into sobs and Harry just let all of the pain flow out of him. As his tears run out the feeling of victory and exhaustion took over. His parents were probably confused or just assumed Harry had had a bad dream, which he supposed was true. A very long and terrifying nightmare. Still he was certain that it had been real. As a hand carded through his hair while another was massaging his back he remembered how ready he had been to die, how much he wanted it, what felt like just a few minutes ago. Now all he wanted was to stay here where he could live, truly live. He reached up towards his forehead, feeling around for his scar, but didn’t find it. His parents weren’t lying, he was safe,… he was free.

I love it! I think Harry would have given the chance to return just like in the original story. It was an awful mistake on Dumbledore's behalf to put it on. I was sad that Dumbledore died but also loved the irony. Think about it- All his life Voldemort wanted to kill his greatest enemy, the one he feared from the most because of his immense power and skill which was probably equal or above himself. He killed Dumbledore directly and not directly. Directly because the curse he put on the ring was killing Dumbledore anyway even if Snape didn't shorted his agony. And not directly because the curse was a general magical protection and not one that is meant purely to Albus Dumbledore.

I'd like to propose a slightly different ending on this hypothetical scenario, in which the ownership of the Deathly Hallows plays a part. It boils down to two key changes in the story of the video: 1) Harry and Dumbledore are in the process of destroying the real locket. As in the original series, it fights back with mind games. At this point, Harry is still pretty much Dumbledore's sidekick. Since the greatest Wizard is alive, Harry is not the leader of the fight against Voldemort. His willpower is not that strong. Therefore, he is an easy target with for the, that manages to convince him that Dumbledore simply uses him as a pawn and shield against his personal vendetta against the Dark Lord. Dumbledore tries to help Harry but he is in a tantrum. The horcrux has connected with the piece of Voldemort inside his soul, and in an unexpected burst of raw Dark-Lord-like power, he disarms his Headmaster. And there Harry stands, wand raised, ready to utter the spell that in his mind feels it will give him so much satisfaction. He is the Chosen One after all... It is only after Ron and Hermione, present during this event, step in and place the bodies between Harry and Dumbledore, that he snaps out of the Horecrux's spell and realizes what has happened. Afraid, ashamed, and feeling like a trator, Harry picks up Dumbledore's wand and gives it back to the stunned Professor. Unknowingly to him, the Elder Wand has now switched masters. ---- 2) We are now at the scene where Harry has chosen to be killed by Dumbledore. Dumbledore raises his wand and whispers the killing curse. The boy falls down motionless. ... At King's Cross Station, his parents await for him for the first time in his life. Or is it his death? "Is this all real? Or is it just happening inside my head?" he asks his mother after their long talk. "Of course it's happening inside your head, sweaty. Why should that mean that it's not real?" Lily replies. "Son, I think it's time you took the train" says James with a bittersweet yet firm tone. ... Next thing Harry feels is Fawkes' mourning song echoing in the background. He is still at Dumbledore's office. But how? He opens his eyes and attempts to get up. To his surprise, he hears Dumbledore's voice speaking in a calm, satisfied tone: "Now you have bested me twice, Harry. Congratulations. And this time, you succeeded where I tried for years in vein." "Professor, what do you mean? How am I alive? Again... And what is it I succeeded on?" "Do you know about the rules of wand ownership, Harry? I should think not. Very well let me explain." ... "So you see, after our little skirmish during the destruction of the locket, you became the master of my very own wand. I should have realized that. It seems, my pride and lure of this wand took the better of me once again. I could never have thought that I would lose this particular item to one of my dearest persons. Regardless, I elected to raise your wand against you today. But a wand cannot be used to harm its own true master. Certainly not this particular wand. And certainly not when this Master is the master of all three items. The curse was never enough to actually kill you. But it had an effect on you, alright: The curse may had been cast onto a single body, but in this body there was also a soul that did not belong to its Master. The killing curse fulfilled its purpose. Voldemort's soul is no more. You are free. We all are." Harry paused, trying to grasp what has happened. "But Professor, even if I am the master of your wand, how is it possible for a spell to destroy a Horcrux? Souldn't its vessel, my body, be destroyed in order to achieve that?" "You are correct. It is not possible for an ordinary wand to do that. Only... Well, I think it's time you learnt about the Deathly Hallows. This is a story linked with me for almost my entire life, and few people in this world know its full extend. But after what happened today, I think you have more than earned your right to know my secrets, my dear boy." And then Dumbledore explains the Hallows. He tells him about his youth, his relationship with Grindelvald, although he leaves out the part of how he ultimately got the Elder Wand. Then, he tells him about the resurrection stone and the clock - all three of them now belonging to Harry. "You see Harry, people, myself included, have always assumed that mere ownership of the Hallows would give one the power to win over Death. You have now proved that this is not enough. One also needs a power much more potent to greet Death as their equal. A power of which you have plenty. Like your mother, 17 years ago, today you sacrificed yourself to save everyone. And you once again cheated death. You truly are the Boy Who Lived. You truly are the Master of Death.

This would kill the vessel that holds the horcrux. in the books it is never tested if the killing curse could destroy the horcrux in Nagini but I believe it would. the main reason Voldermort has to kill Harry is so that Harry has THE CHANCE to survive. Dumbledoor doesn't know for sure until after it happens that it will work, he just has an educated guess that harry will survive.

I don’t think Dumbledore would have allowed Draco to get the upper hand on him if he wasn’t already dying. Even though weakened and without a wand I’m sure Dumbledore had plenty of magical tricks up his sleeve. But because he was dying, he just let it all happen, without trying to escape or defend himself. So that scenario would not have played out the same way. Snape wouldn’t have had to make the choice, Dumbledore would have survived. Despite wanting to save Draco, Dumbledore would have known he was more valuable alive than Draco was.

Snape doesn't have to agree to anything. Bella isn't going to dare attack him without Voldemort's orders. He can tell Bellatrix to "sod off!" And that's exactly what he WOULD have done, had Dumbledore not cursed himself with the ring, and ordered Snape to kill him. Bella has no power to demand anything from Snape. Bellatrix being suspicious means NOTHING, because Voldemort has already used Legilimens on Snape when Snape returned to him on Dumbledore's orders, within an hour of Harry returning to Dumbledore to report Voldemort's return. Of course, Voldemort was initially suspicious of how Snape became the servant of his enemy Dumbledore! But Voldy is convinced he's the world's greatest and most powerful Legilimens, so he also believes NOBODY could possibly deceive him! Snape's perfectly safe despite Bella's suspicions because of Voldemort's vanity. He could simply tell Narcissa that he refuses to help Draco, because the Dark Lord has given Draco the task alone, and that he will only kill Dumbledore IF and WHEN the Dark Lord orders it! And Voldemort won't do that because he wants to punish Lucius Malfoy for his failure to get the prophecy by arranging the death of Draco. (This also punishes Dumbledore by killing one of his students).

He doesn't care about any of them! He even helped get Lucius get sent to Azkaban by telling Dumbledore of Harry's insistence that Sirius was held captive in the Department of Mysteries. Then Dumbledore went to the Ministry himself capturing all the death eaters including Lucius. He pretends on Dumbledore's orders to befriend Draco and offers to help him with killing Dumbledore, but of course he's only trying to learn Draco's plans and tell Dumbledore of them!

I agree -- however, Bellatrix is already suspicious of Snape, and I think that J is coming from the angle of, "if Snape declines, then his cover is ruined," --- ...which may not be the case, but that assumption is honestly the most relevant one, meaning it is the assumption that they are going to go with. Reason being, is that there are certainly many different scenarios for each film theory, and if you choose the least relevant one, it opens an entire "can" for lack of better words, of potential plot holes that they may miss.

@@sparkdaudios I thought that too, and at the end it doesn't matter as this is a "what if." I think I came to this video expecting that Snape would not take the vow as Albus is not dying from the curse.

In a way, but in the scene Bellatrix is throwing immense doubt on Snape's character and when Snape says he'll be on their side Bellatrix offers the unbreakable vow as a form of proof. If Snape was truly on their side he'd not have much reason to reject the proposal other than self preservation. If Snape doesn't accept the vow it's a bit telling that his allegiance may not truly be to Voldemort, or at the very least he values his life more than his service to Voldemort. To Bellatrix, who is absurdly abscessed with serving Voldemort that would be enough to confirm her doubts, and she would likely relay her feeling that Snape isn't on their side. Voldemort doesn't like anyone, but he does respect Bellatrix for her unquestionable, unwavering loyalty, and her belief that Snape is not on their side would carry some weight. Even if Voldemort continued to believe Snape his, he would have doubts from then on. Snape's position as a spy really relied on him being very trusted. I don't think Snape would be required to fight, but rejecting the vow would have really angered Bellatrix and likely compromised his position as a spy.

Book: Deathly Hallows, Chapter: The Forest Again, "...he pulled off the Invisibility Cloak and stuffed it beneath his robes, WITH HIS WAND. He did not want to be tempted to fight" "Harry could feel his wand against his chest, but he made NO ATTEMPT TO DRAW IT" Despite their unique connection, Harry's wand could not, and would not cast the golden flames (or any other spell) from the isnide pocket of his robes. Harry dies, the Horcrux is destroyed, Harry still protected by his mother's magic survives (I also always thought Harry having 2 souls inside him, similar to cats having 9 lives) Voldemort surprisingly weakened and having only 2 small pieces of soul still surviving is on the ground. And everything else goes EXACTLY as it is in the books. Narcissa isn't there to cover for Harry, but Voldemort decides to torture Hagrid a bit earlier. Orders him to declare his dear champion dead, Hagrid flustered, does exactly that. Boom.

Another crazy idea here. What if, when Snape died from the Unbreakable Vow, he chose to become a ghost? 1. He knows his work to avenge Lily is not done, and he’d want to see it through to the end. 2. As much as he’d like to see Lily again, I really get the feeling he’s smart enough to know that the afterlife wouldn’t necessarily mean Lily would be happy to see him. If you only truly care for one person and you wronged that person past the point of forgiveness, would you really want to spend an eternity with them. 3. Aside from Lily, the only other thing be cares about is Hogwarts. His eternal reward could be that he teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts forever as a ghost (if Binns can do it, why can’t Snape?) after being denied the position for so long.

If Harry can cast a sacrificial love spell on himself then, with a little plot magic, doesn't Dumbledores spell not only kill the horecrux inside harry but also, like what happened to voldemort, doesn't the spell bounce off him and kill Dumbledore? This would make for an appropriate ending.

I like how dumbledore's restraint in not trying the resurrection stone leads to further selflessness in passing it to harry & snape's sacrifice.
