It has been thought that most earth-like planets found in the habitable zone will be about half land half sea. If Earth were half land and half water, it would likely have a significant impact on the planet's climate and ecosystems. The distribution of water and land affects weather patterns and ocean currents, which play a major role in regulating temperature and precipitation. Additionally, the proportion of land and water also determines the types of plants and animals that can survive in different regions. Without land to support terrestrial life, the diversity of species would likely be greatly reduced. Additionally, it would be difficult for human civilization to sustain itself if the majority of the planet's surface was covered in water.
