I love the sound, too, but if I'm comparing it to the version on The Black Album I wouldn't call this version "crispy". It actually sounds quite a bit warmer in the mids (especially with the guitars) whereas The Black Album has more attack and a darker drum sound.

Yeah I was a Metallica super fan most of my life, Megadeth and Metallica were the first bands that I really got into as a kid. But I was poor so I didn’t see Metallica until I was in my mid-20s, and I’m now 30. I was pretty disappointed. They put on a good SHOW but as far as the music goes it’s very watered down, rushed and novelty. They sound plonky and unenthusiastic. Nothing compared to the 80’s and 90’s stuff that I grew up obsessed with

I think if Enter Sandman would have been on Ride the Lightning, the riff would have been much more aggressive. There is not enough downstroke in it as it is!
