I actually remember from one of DO's videos, I can't quite remember which one I think it was the 1,000 stages video, that Bhaos is the most likely item to crash your game when stacked too high because of the fact it loops back around on itself. At a certain point the amount of processing to make everything go off at once it just too much.

my defense of DS2 is that you should be able to push through a game regardless of how bad it is, I not only did DS2, but I 100% it, same as DMC2, it may be awful, but if I want to play the whole series, I'm sure as hell not gonna skip any, regardless of how bad they are, just so I can see how they improved since then. Most series that have a black sheep (Dark Souls 2, DMC2, Dynasty Warriors 6) I'll still play all the way through, just so Ican form my own opinions on why I think it's bad, what I think it did good, and how its improved since then, and what they kept that was good, and got rid of that was bad, in future games.

DARK SOULS 2 IS THE BEST SOULS GAME FIGHT ME Ahem: Dark Souls 2 is, in my opinion, objectively the greatest Soulsbornekiroring game of all time. Dark Souls 2 offers unique experiences when compared to the other souls games, with large amounts of experimental additions and gameplay, overseen by the great Hidetaka Miyazaki himself (but not made by him, as this would make the game *too* good). Dark Souls 2's map and area design are varied and creative, with many extremely recognisable and unique locations. These areas are often criticised due to their connections being wildly illogical, however this can also be interpreted as the main theme of the game in action: the hollowing of the player character. Hollowing leads to loss of memory, and so the player character forgets large chunks of time, including the traversal of the land between locales, expressed in game as jarring area transitions. Dark souls 2 is also host to a variety of unique items, such as elemental firebombs, allowing for increased item diversity, lifegems, which provide extra healing and can make up for slow estus use. Bonfire Aescetics allow for areas to be leveled up to NG+ without beating the entire game, which opens many doors for interesting strategies regarding grinding and loot, and allowing for infinite dragon bone shards (thank fucking god). Weapon variety is increased significantly with the addition of powerstancing, which allows for dual wielding of weapons even of different weapon types, with new movesets. This makes the game significantly more enjoyable and is just cool like come on who doesn't like powerstancing even Elden Ring has it. In conclusion, Dark Souls 2 is clearly the best Soulsbournekiroring game because every comment I made on it is good and therefore the game is good.

Here's some viewer engagement for you! Dark Souls 2 is absolutely the worst of the Souls games, though some of the ways it's shit make it a fun experience to me in all the wrong ways. Like combat encounters that are really shoddily made and/or just throw a bunch of enemies at you, some real wack bosses, the overall weird look of the game, and other very little things like when you die to fall damage, your character doesn't scream or anything, they just thud on the ground. They're almost funny, and to me it seems like a rare glimpse into what a first-time indie developer would do in a game if they had a sizeable budget and team (though a team that wasn't allowed to suggest anything to the director). Been really enjoying these single-item runs, we do enjoy a little chaos. Have a good 2024 everyone

My DS2 take: It sucks unless you play a caster/hybrid caster build. Then it becomes a genuinely great experience and a whole lot of fun. It feels like the game was designed for players to use ranged options, which is super weird for a Souls game and it confuses me as to what the devs were thinking when they did that. Aside from that, the writing in that game is, in my opinion, the best in all of Fromsoft's games. But yeah, the fact that the game can vary from miserable to awesome depending on playstyle makes it mid, and objectively the worst souls game.

Ds2 is the worst souls game BUT it still has soul memory which is a great mechanic and a metric fuckload of butterflies hidden throughout all non dlc areas and bonfire ascetics are actually genuinely terrible All things considered it still did a lot well, being able to see your damage scaling is very helpful, strength functioning the way it does 2h is lovely, it has my favorite implementation of pyromancy, bow jump attacks 4/10 don't make me play again
