I used to think about this a lot, but then I realized this concept is kind of just College Football. Every state has a team, bigger states have multiple teams in different major cities, with various regions grouped together. Teams are more about the location as opposed to the team itself (Ohio State will always be Ohio, the Dolphins are only Miami because they play in Miami and nothing is stopping them from just going somewhere else). Teams represent state pride and form rivalries with neighboring states. Etc.

I did the same thing a few months ago. This is what I came up with. Arizona- Keeping the Cardinals California- Keeping the 49ers Colorado- Keeping the Broncos Florida- Keeping the Buccaneers Georgia- Keeping the Falcons Hawaii- Getting the Dolphins Illinois- Keeping the Bears Indiana- Keeping the Colts Iowa- Getting the Bangles Kansas- Getting the Chiefs (They currently plan on the MO Side of KC) Louisiana-Keeping the Saints Maryland- Keeping the Ravens Massachusetts- Keeping the Patriots Michigan- Keeping the Lions Minnesota- Keeping the Vikings Mississippi- Getting the Jaguars Missouri- Getting the Rams back New Jersey- Keeping/Getting Jets (They are now the NJ Jets like they already should be) New Mexico- Getting the Cowboys New York- Getting/Keeping the Giants (The Giants now ACTUALLY play in NY) North Carolina- Keeping the Panthers North Dakota- Getting the Chargers Ohio- Keeping the Browns Oklahoma- Getting the Bills Pennsylvania- Keeping the Eagles Tennessee- Keeping the Titans Texas- Keeping the Texans Virginia- Keeping the Commanders Washington- Keeping the Seahawks West Virginia- Getting the Steelers Wisconsin- Keeping the Packers Now let's make new teams to give to each remaining State Alabama- Huntsville Rocketeers (Named from the city's nickname of rocket city do to its history of aerospace technology) Alaska- Alaska Malamutes (A reference to the Alaska state dog and the state's history of dog sledding) Arkansas- Arkansas Diamond Heads (Not the best, but it references Arkansas having the world's only public diamond mine) Connecticut- Connecticut Colonials (Referencing the states rich history) Delaware- Wilmington Crabbers (Referencing that the state has the largest population of Horseshoe crabs in the world. Yes I know Horseshoe Crabs aren't true crabs, just roll with it) Idaho- Boise Bluebirds (A reference to the state bird) Kentucky- Louisville Mustangs (A type of horse because of the Kentucky Derby) Maine- Lewiston Lobsters (this should be obvious) Montana- Billings Grizzlies (Montana's State Animal) Nebraska- Nebraska Prairie Hawks (Not technically right, but it sounds better than prairie falcons) New Hampshire- Manchester Maple Trees (State is known for maple syrup) Oregon- Portland Pioneers (Both a reference to the Oregon Trail and Madden 24) Rhode Island- Providence Clams (State is known for its clams) South Carolina- Charleston Cheetahs (I wanted to keep the big cat theme to have some parallel with NC) South Dakota- Sioux Falls Pheasants (State bird and I couldn't think of anything better that rolled off the tongue well.) Utah- Salt Lake City Prophets (Was going for a reference to the states large LDS [Mormon] Population) Vermont- Burlington Brewers (State known for craft beer) Wyoming- Wyoming Bullfighters ( A reference to the states propensity for rodeos) Some of these aren't the best, but they're what I could come up with.

I made a comment similar to yours and now that I think of it, I think I like moving the Dolphins to Hawaii and keeping the Eagles in Pennsylvania. I remember asking my coworkers would they rather have a true "National" Football League where each named US state/territory gets a team (potentially with a restructuring of divisions), OR a developed "International" Football League where 32 out-of-country teams are made with the same division structure that the NFL has today and after each has had their Superbowl there would be one more game that would be the ultimate world championship. The answer was harder for them to choose than they thought, so I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about stuff like this. xD Edit: Maine's should have been Moose or Lobster related. Hell, if you wanted alliteration, the Portland Pines would've worked too

Not how I would have done it. This is how I would have done it: (Updated with scratches) AFC East: Dolphins - -Florida- Hawaii Patriots - Massachusetts Bills - Wyoming (state that you think of when it comes to buffaloes) Jets - New Jersey AFC South: Colts - Indiana (would move back to the AFC East) Jaguars - South Carolina Titans - Tennessee Texans - Texas (hesitant but I get it) AFC North: Steelers - Pennsylvania Browns - Ohio Bengals - -Kentucky- Iowa Ravens - Maryland AFC West: Chiefs - Kansas Chargers - Alabama (would move to the South after Colts go to the East and Bills to the West, also renamed to Birmingham Bolts) Broncos - Colorado Raiders - Nevada NFC East: Cowboys - Oklahoma (missed Cowboys name for the COWBOY STATE!) Eagles - Delaware (They're LOVED In the beltway and I can't move them from there) Giants - New York (makes the best sense) Redskins - Virginia NFC South: Buccaneers - -Mississippi- Florida Saints - Louisiana Falcons - Georgia Panthers - North Carolina (they play there and it's the right Carolina for them) NFC North: Lions - Michigan Packers - Wisconsin Bears - Illinois Vikings - Minnesota NFC West: 49ers - California (agreed that they are the keystone team of California) Rams - Missouri (they'd be the St Louis Rams again!) Seahawks - Washington Cardinals - Arizona The rest you can fill in with new teams like Anchorage Yetis, Bismarck Barons, Sioux Falls Rushmores, Dover Ducks, etc...

The Steelers could be WV and then Eagles can stay in PA, though DE is a fine fit for the Eagles considering that's what people there support, largely, and their biggest city (Wilmington) is just urban sprawl of Philly anyways. I also feel like it could have taken some teams from college in the states that are crazy for those teams or are just prolific, like Alabama or Iowa.
@Dj0287Ай бұрын
Ok so I need an explanation being from Mississippi....I noticed on some teams you moved to other states you put them in actual cities in those states like Sioux City, Iowa for the Eagles and Santa Fe, New Mexico for the Cowboys. Why did the Bills who you had move to Mississippi get call "Buffalo City"? There is no such city in Mississippi called Buffalo City...so either 1. You don't know any cities in Mississippi, and didn't bother to look them up (Biloxi being the obvious choice....**Biloxi Bills**) or 2. You wanted to keep the name "Buffalo" in the title. Which in that case makes no sense, because you took the only ACTUAL team that is in New York out of New York.

A lot of it is that college sports is part of the school, which many are part of that state education system, so they can't relocate because of wanting citizens to pay for a new stadium as opposed to pro sports. I would also use knights, fire, cougars, rush (flowing water), wolves, ducks, horned frogs, and dragons (Komodo dragon).

Whole list of problems. FAR too many to list. Not going to bother. We dont need 50 teams However, the next logical step is an 8 team expansion to bring it to 40. However, If they do it, the NFL is infinitely more likely to give 4 of those teams across Europe, 2 for Canada (1 AFC/1NFC) and 2 for Mexico (same). This satisfies their push into foreign markets and making NFL football an international game which is also the next most logical step. But there are a lot of other variables that go into NFL teams and there are clearly consistent rules internally. The NFL strives for things like parity and symmetry. For example the AFC Raiders vs NFC Buccaneers, 2 pirate themed teams. Then there are an even number of "flying" teams between Cards, Falcons, Ravens, Jets, Eagles, Seahawks. Pairings like Saints Vs Vikings, which are for the humanoid wing which is too many to list. Youl see other similar groupings like Cats with Jags and Bengals in AFC and Lions and Panthers in NFC. So the NFL Likes to utilize these connections. They will continue to make them. For example, the NFL WANTS a team named Sharks or Whales so it pairs/contrasts with Dolphins as they are the only aquatic team so far. So for example you could see an Oregon team named the whales and if you dont know the history its definitely worth learning the connections between Florence Oregon and whales. Its well known the NFL wants to push into Europe now and its almost as well known that they want that strong instant partnership with Jaguar automotive, So they will likely find a way to relocate the Jaguars to England (Sometimes they will go against their own patterns if they find something else more important, Like realigning the entire league after expansion but still leaving the cowboys in the NFC east)
