You can never go wrong with an Omega. I worked at a watch/clock repair shop in the 80's, and the master watchmaker always recommended the mechanical movement of Omega (over any other watch).
@miketindol16795 жыл бұрын
I would keep my pre ceramic 1999 Omega Seamaster. When my wife gave me this watch (because it was like James Bond’s) I really didn’t know much about luxury watches. I wore it everyday whether working on aircraft or working out. 12 years later the band was scratched up and it started to loose time. After some research I sent it in for servicing. It came back looking brand new and calibrated to amazing accuracy. One day my son will inherit the watch and it could be his one watch also.

I am amazed - I had it in completely the reverse order! I only have one watch - the Lorus Titanium RXD425L8 which gains six seconds per month and has a 100m depth rating. It cost £45 from Amazon. After the canvas strap got tatty I replaced it with an excellent black mesh strap which cost me £6.99, also from Amazon. The strap can be adjusted in about fifteen seconds with not too much effort. If I won the lottery I don't think I would change anything - it is the best watch I ever owned and probably the cheapest! By the way, I also only carry an Opinel knife. All pure simplicity, economy and functionality.

I have one too. I put it on a brown leather strap. It's a good watch.
@GenWivern25 жыл бұрын
Thank you Nick. For the little that it's worth I came to the same conclusion for the simple reason that if you have screwdrivers, solvent and oil you've got a working watch for life. Had the other Omega been mechanical that would have got the nod. The only point of divergence is that the Breitling would've been tossed off the cliff with no hesitation whatsoever at the outset. Omega seems to me one of the best options available for long term service because of the well-established reputation for durability and ease of maintenance.

I had the urge to buy Seamasters in early 2000s. Ended up getting a good deal on a rare Oris diving watch. Bought another one in black. I always got tired of having to set the correct time. One day my watch band came loose unexpectedly while I was wearing it, and fell to the ground at work. I had enough and sold all my manual watches and ended up getting a rare $600 Casio Protrek, and it's been the best decision in my whole watch career. Never an issue. Time is crazy accurate. Have temp, barometer, altimeter, timers, stopwatch, etc.. it looks like a regular watch and the digital part is on the low j which is what I was looking for). It's an excellent excellent watch unlike the junk watches I've owned in the past (ie Bulavas lol) If I ever do decide to try another high end diver - it would be Seamaster Planet Ocean 👍

My cheap G-SHOCK GA100 camo has been through a lot of crap over the last 3 years... Best watch I've ever owned... The thing is bullet proof and still looks relatively unscathed... Which is pretty impressive when you consider all the plates, glasses (face and drinking), bones, cars, etc. that I have broken since I bought it... As for my Timex keeping accurate time, well the trick is about every 6 months I undergo a procedure to correct it. @hurricaneheli794 жыл бұрын
Well this is a long comment. If I had to choose it would be between the G-Shock & Rolex. G-Shock 1) My 1st watch & got me into them. 2) Was a gift by someone I'm close with. 3) This is my everyday watch. Sorry Swatch you used to be for a time. This G-Shock had literally been through hell & back. I've replaced the strap too many times & eventually got a Jay's and Kay's adapter. Which I've had over a year & it's held up unlike the others. 4) My only grip about the watch is the calendar is good for 2000-2039. We don't know how long we have but I could very well see 2039. Rolex 1) My 3rd watch. The watch I claimed that got me into them. 2) This was past down from someone who past away before they could give it to me personally & made it clear it was to be given to me if anything happened. Which was the case. 3) This watch I barely have on because of some reasons. But it's got the most sentimental value. 4) This would be serviceable for my lifetime because it's a long running model. The Datejust. With all that being said it's a tough choice. Because I will get the same G-Shock but updated version with the calendar that goes to 2099 at some point. Both watches are worth the same to me. I need to put that out there. If I had a gun to my head, I'd say the Rolex. But a free choice I cannot make.
