I lived in Xi'an for 10 years, fun fact: it is the only one Chinese city where foreigners in Chinese ancient costume would make a lot of sense😊 Because a thousand years ago, Chang'an which is today's Xi'an had so many foreigners from middle Asian, middle East as well as Europe. I've to say both you and your mum look fabulous in those ancient Tang costumes. Tang Dynasty was very cosmopolitan and rich, with merchants coming from as far as Persia and possibly beyond. Some of these Indo-european and Turkic travellers ended up as officials in the courts.

The Avatar movie wasn't actually filmed there. James Cameron went there in 2004 for 3 years to take approximately 25,000 photos & videos of the landscape to study them. There is no other place like Zhangjiajie in the world.
