I am a fan of the original Grimm tales, so I love that you are including them when you discuss the Disneyified versions! I enjoyed this a lot. It has a similiar feel to your Build like a Nerd videoes, which I also enjoy!

This is a funny and really informational Video. Please make more of it. Little Side-Information, today in Germany Germanists try to find out where the Source of a Fairy Tale comes from. The interesting part of Snow white is that there may have been an incident in Real Life History that happened hundreds of years before the Brothers Grimm collected Fairy Tales, possibly the Source of this Story. The Evidence is a little shady, but it goes as Follows. There was a Noble Girl who was the most beautiful in the World (that's what her Father wanted her Suitors to believe anyway), when her Father married again his Wife had a talking Mirror, that was a Mirror with a Sentence that was engraved into the Frame. When the Maiden got betrothed to another nobleman in a faraway Land beyond the Seven Mountains (a Region in Germany) she arrived, got poisoned and died, most likely on the Orders of a rival noble Family who wanted to marry their daughter to the Lord of said Lands. In the Original Notebooks from the Grimms (yes some of them still exist) the Maiden Snow white is described as having Blond hair, pale-white Skin, dark brown Eyes and Blood-Red Lips, which fits the description of said Maiden. The Description of Snow white in the Fairy Tale and All the Lyrics of the Mirror comes from one of the Brothers Grimm who put such poems into the Fairy Tales before they published them, to make them more modern and more to the Tastes of the time.

It's really cool to know where the fairy tales come from. At this point we'll probably never know how much was fact and how much was added on as the story was passed around, but I bet almost all of them started with a seed of truth.

This is a fun challenge. I definitely think that Snow white will be a Crunchy mom. I want to do a CAS challenge for easter weekend. This would be a fun challenge.

This video is awesome! First, as somebody who rarely dives deep into CAS, I was impressed by the faces you made, especially Pocahontas! Then, I really enjoyed your retelling of the original fairy tales. Even as a German, I had no idea that the whole "healing hair" thing from Tangled comes from the original Rapunzel story. Rapunzel salad (lettuce?) was a favorite dish of mine as a child, actually :D Summed up: I'm looking forward to more chaotic and/ or CAS videos from you :)

Some versions of Snow White has her actually waking up pregnant with the Prince‘s child, which raises many horrifying questions. There is also the fact that the “dwarves” are a reference to both children who would often be sought after to work in the mines (small, can fit inside tighter spaces, costs less to feed, won’t fight back as hard when mistreated), and the fact that mining was a job where the terrible working conditions often led to things like malnutrition and deformed skeletal growth etc. My father told me this when I was very young, and I can’t look at Snow White without thinking about that fact.

I’ve heard that about sleeping beauty too. She was still sleeping after giving birth and one of her babies like sucks the splinter from her finger when trying to suckle and getting her hand and then she wakes up

I knew there were versions of Sleeping Beauty that involved waking up in active labor, but I didn't know there was an ending like that for Snow White too.

I still don’t get what a soccer mom is, like, does she get too into the performance of her kids’ sports, the kind of parent who starts shouting abuse at the other team (or the referee) when watching a game? I guess it’s just cultural differences, we don’t have the same stereotypes maybe? When I was in preschool, the teachers would put on a cassette audiobook for our daily nap time. Once, they thought they’d gotten a copy of some fairytales, but it turns out it was the old Grimm edition of the stories, which was on cassette as an accessibility feature and not meant for kids. So I remember listening to this story where, well, Sleeping Beauty’s stepsisters cut off their toes one by one, and then their heels, just to fit in those glass shoes. And the evil stepmother herself gets torn apart by birds or something. That made an impression on me at age 3 or 4, I can tell you that much! I think the “cool” mom is like… she tries too hard, and her teenage kids can immediately tell that she’s not doing whatever it is correctly. I guess it’s like that “how do you do, fellow kids?” Steve Buscemi meme, but more embarrassing because it’s not just some random adult, it’s your mom trying desperately to be cool. For what it’s worth, the Frozen movies is kinda like Pocahontas for the Sámi people, who are indigenous to northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and part of Russia (basically, all these countries just started slicing up Sápmi land into pieces without any care for how the Sámi felt about it). It’s nice that they made movies with that theme, but it’s also full of stereotypes and awful stuff.

The Soccer Mom is the kind of mom who has her kids in every possible activity, drives them there, is a loud member of the... Audience? Idk what people who watch sports are called 😅 and is just generally very busy and has a Karen Lite attitude. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's a primarily USA stereotype though, since we're very much into sports and extracurricular activities as a culture.
