There was once a dream. A dream by a man who would come to be known as el libertador. A man who would play a part in freeing many from shackles of different forms. This man? Simon Bolivar? His dream? A united and unified Latin America. Capable of not only standing up to its Spanish overlords, but to stand as a power all its own. This Unified Latin American nation would come to be known as Gran Colombia. During his time at its head it would bring the nations of Venezuela, Columbia, and Ecuador, under one banner. It seemed for a moment his dream would come to fruition. And yet today, there is no gran Colombia, Latin America is divided, impoverished, and strife ridden. So today we ask, what if Simon Bolivar's dream had come true? What if Latin America has unified?

As a Colombian, this is my dream. Gran Colombia, on its own, would be a major power by annexing the Caribbean. Also, Spain might colonize all of Morocco if expelled earlier from the continent, and they also get to keep the Philippines, which is nice for the Spanish language to develop there.

Great scenario! I just find it a bit odd that you included Brazil in the union because of their different cultures and languages.

That is definitely not likely as I said in the video, I believe most of what I said stands true with or without Brazil but by the end their inclusion was mostly for the map painting joy.

Well it's "what if latin america united", Brazil speaks Portuguese which is a latin language. That's also why French speaking territories are included.

@@TeamJella The Spanish and Portuguese languages are completely understandable, a Spaniard and a Portuguese can speak their respective languages and end up understanding each other. Brazilians have the same character as the rest of the Spanish countries in America, the only thing is that they are a little crybaby like the Saxons... Our Brazilian brothers cry if you call them a monkey 😂😂😂

I think all of Latin America unifying is a bit of stretch. Not impossible, but like you said if the best possible outcomes happened and if everything went right. Best chance at more unified South America defined had to start with Gran Colombia.

Assuming the best case scenario, this video, happened, I could also see them pressuring the Europeans to give their American (Caribbean/South American) territories to them and perhaps they would or would be stopped by America or the USSR

An interesting story too, is if it made an alternative history of Imperial Brazil, where Brazil itself would converge with the Americans to become a global power. Like the Could Brazil be strong and successful? Simple, the abolition has to happen gradually since the country's independence, Brazil could have annexed the country through a formal annexation letter from Upper Peru (Bolivia at the time),with this Brazil would have access to the Pacific, however something fundamental for this future to become a superpower has to happen, a commercial agreement between the British and Brazil, instead of huge debt that they would leave for Brazil, and in relation to Portugal, it is very likely that Brazil would not pay them or the British, since there would be an agreement where the British would have commercial advantages, so Brazil would have money to finance the silver war against Argentina, keeping Uruguay and probably annexing Argentine Mesopotamia, why do I think that? Then I believe that Emperor Pedro I had great expansionist ambitions, making these ambitions possible in this scenario, with this, Brazil would go through a moment of economic development, technological advances (railways, industrialization etc), educational and military (both in the land army and in the navy, since the navy has always been the focus of the Empire of Brazil, since Pedro I did not want to be subjugated by foreign nations, on the question of the land army, I believe that it would be inspired by some European model, I suppose the Prussian one is the most likely) logical that it will be a gradual process, it will take years, and with popular support and with the growing industry, oligarchies would not be such a big problem for Pedro I, Pedro I will have support and advice from José Bonifácio and the Empress Leopoldina Habsburgo (two great beings with political gifts, they were admirable people, and with great political knowledge) slavery in Brazil around 1830~40 would probably be abolished (in the best case, if it does not occur in the best case it is between 1850~60). Returning to the expansion of Pedro I, at some point in this history I believe there was an invasion with the objective of annexing Peru, as this territory is very advantageous, natural defenses and a lot of ore, also because it would be part of Pedro I's desire for expansion, this will be a desired invasion, where Peru's elites will support Brazil according to negotiations years before being invaded, as I said earlier, it was planned, quite possible to have a split between republicans and monarchists in Peru, as Peru itself liked this type of government, and Peruvians in upper Peru they were being well treated and integrated into Brazilian society (obviously they were being assimilated, but gradually) probably this invasion would have a certain popular support and as Brazil is very strong in this reality, before arriving in lima the governor would accept the annexation if, Argentina, New Granada, and Paraguay It did not enter the war against Brazil, being a coalition. Paraguay would enter the war because it felt threatened by Brazilian influence in South America and also for the same reason as what happened in our timeline, Because they didn't have access to the sea, I wanted a treaty to help them, which Pedro II wouldn't care about, Argentina would enter the war for reasons of revanchism and wanted to recover territory as well, New Granada believes that it would enter the war because of Brazil's expansionism towards North From South America, which would make them very insecure, at some point this cohesion would happen and I think the perfect moment is the invasion of Peru, I also think that the invasion of Peru would be fast due to popular support and technological advances And also Brazil would be able to transport its troops quickly to Peru because of the already existing railroads in upper peru, It is logical that the logistics for the invasion of Peru would make the invasion a little difficult because of the mountain ranges, but Brazil would have the knowledge and technology to gain an advantage in recognition By area, as Brazil has the highest peru, and Pedro II along with his Father and the army would study tactics for such an invasion. Returning to the coalition, after the annexation of Peru or with the division of Peru itself, one part supporting the annexation and the other against (oligarchies and the highest economic social class, supporting Brazil) Brazil would be able to neutralize Argentina and Paraguay quickly, as that is where it has the greatest number of people and railroads, that is, logistics is not a problem, obviously Brazil would mobilize its navy to the Paraguay River and the Plata basin since Brazil in this reality is the second largest navy in the American continent, To mobilize land troops, it would be a little difficult to enter Paraguay terrain, but with support from the Navy, probably Paraguay,Incredibly, it would probably be one of the hardest for Brazil to defeat because of its relatively advanced army and the swampy terrain. However it would fall, Argentina would be a little complicated too, because people didn't start to advance their army technologically and train, since they wanted a rematch, but Argentina it had a lot of political instability, and its financial background would not be one of the best either due to the loss of Mesopotamia Argentina, a very important region at the time for agriculture and livestock and debts caused by Brazil, so it would fall, as it would not be very difficult for Brazil to reach Buenos Aires, and when it arrived, political instability would reign. Against New Granada it would be very easy to war since the troops that went to Peru would be obliged to hold back in the advance in Ecuador or simply hold back if the Peru has divided Until Brazilian reinforcements arrived, then the war in Peru divided it would walk normally and the Brazilian Navy would screw the entire coast of Venezuela and Colombia, it was a matter of time to invade Bogotá, I believe that Brazil, being a Brazilian victory, this war would happen sometime in 1840~70, with 40 and 50 being the best years to happen, due to the civil war and the war of Crimea. Peace treaty: for Argentina, would it put someone in the government who would support Brazil or would make Argentina its own monarchy with some relative of the Brazilian royalty in power, of course I would have a debt to pay. Paraguay:Annexation Peru: This treaty with Peru only occurs if the war happened during the annexation of Peru, Having said that, the part that was against Brazil would be annexed. New Granada: They would be divided into three, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador, which Ecuador would be annexed. For Colombia and Venezuela they would have debts to erase since they declared War on Brazil with all the eye drops of this war And it would be replaced by governors or the oligarchies present in these countries that were pro-Brazil. Basically it's the end of this war Brazil has a great influence in all of South America, and yes I didn't forget Chile Chile it didn't enter the war, it entered it was against Argentina becoming an ally for Brazil. I would even continue this story, but I got tired of writing, anything I write for anyone who is interested.
