I think the "Claytallica" situation is a perfect example of how talent doesn't automatically fit anywhere. In the same way Lars wouldn't fit in any other band, Claypool would not have fit in well with Metallica. He's probably the most gifted bass player of all time, but his style was just too funky. He might have fit in the Red Hot Chili Peppers or even Rage Against the Machine, but Metallica was on a whole other spectrum. That being said, I'd love to hear Metallica cover "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver."

I agree with with you (and also with Les Claypool himself) as to why this wouldn't work, as cool as is on paper. When people wonder "what if [person] played for [band] instead of [other person]?", they tend to think of how those artists are now and what that fusion would be, but earlier in their careers, they'd be at different points artistically and personality-wise. So when we wonder what it would be like if Les played for Metallica instead of Jason, we imagine a Primus/Metallica hybrid, when that probably wouldn't have been the case as you said. Still, I'd love to see them collaborate now. Maybe not a whole album because that might backfire (see Lulu), but maybe something like bringing Les on live and have him play the bass part for "Master of Puppets" in his style or something like that.

Oh! & Andriy my friend.. Quick question.. I know it's a random question but I noticed the length of your nails on your right hand.. A bit longer then the left/fretboard hand.. Is that helpful to you? I personally keep my nails short on both hands.. If anything a tad bit longer on my right hand if playing guitar/acoustic. Anyhow! Stay well frieend 😎 - edit I just looked back & I think I got it wrong.. It appears you/we both & possibly many other players tend to have our (RIGHT) hand fingernails a bit longer for finger picking and so on 😁 Anyhow! I still keep my right hand fingernails relatively short.. Specially when full on playing Bass

Nails give a fuller ringing tone, almost like a pick :)

@@AndriyVasylenko cool-cool sounds right😎 Even when I play guitar acoustic or electric I don't typically Rock a pick... Never really got use to a pick.. But I get by 😁 Thanks for the reply friend spaseeba.. Although I'm sure my spelling in off 😎

Honestly with Les on bass Metallica would’ve sounded a lot more like Pantera, driving riffs and intensity with a lot more of a comedy element, I’d dip into that universe to watch for sure lol

But, But, on Rhinoplasty has a Metallica cover and it sounds awesome! You might wanna rethink this

Primus covered The Thing That Should Not Be, and it's definitely Primus covering Metallica

I think it's time for a new "garage days revisited/garage inc." type album... Would love to hear 'tallica take on some of the greatest tunes of the last 20+ years and work their magic on them.

Should hear Primus cover of The Thing That Should Not Be......on their Rhinoplasty album. It's MUCH heavier than the Metallica version in my opinion
