Wait why didn’t Mecha Sonic’s protocols reactivate like in Scrapnik Island? Wasn’t it Metal who destroyed him in this timeline?

That's a valid question. My reasoning was that those protocols were initiated by Sonic himself as the one he was designed to destroy, so Metal wouldn't trigger them as Eggman assumed he was dead while building Mecha and so did not include any instructions regarding him.
